degree and, as the case may be, by other persons holding the appropriate<br />

degrees for the care of children of that age. In any event, the creation and<br />

implementation of the teaching plan referred to in paragraph 2 of section<br />

14 of the Act will be supervised by a professional in possession of a Teacher’s<br />

degree in early childhood education or an equivalent graduate degree. The<br />

second cycle of early childhood education will be taught by professionals<br />

in possession of a Teacher’s degree in early childhood education or an<br />

equivalent graduate degree and may be assisted by teachers with other<br />

specialities if the subject being taught so requires.<br />

Primary education (Section 93): A Teacher’s degree in primary education or<br />

equivalent graduate degree will be required to teach primary education,<br />

notwithstanding any other university degrees the Government, in<br />

consultation with the Autonomous Regions, may require for specifi c areas.<br />

Primary education will be taught by teachers who are qualifi ed in all areas at<br />

this level. Music, physical education, foreign languages and any other subject<br />

d<strong>et</strong>ermined by the Government, in consultation with the Autonomous<br />

Regions, will be taught by teachers with the corresponding specialization<br />

or qualifi cation.<br />

Compulsory secondary education and baccalaureate (Section 94): „The<br />

university graduate degree of Licenciado, Engineer or Architect, or an<br />

equivalent graduate degree, and a post-graduate pedagogical and didactic<br />

training will be required to teach compulsory secondary education<br />

and baccalaureate as provided in section 100 of the Act on Education,<br />

notwithstanding any other degrees the Government, in consultation with<br />

the Autonomous Regions, may require to teach specifi c areas”.<br />

Vocational training (Section 95). The same degrees and training required to<br />

teach compulsory secondary education and baccalaureate will be required<br />

to teach vocational training, notwithstanding any other degrees the<br />

Government, in consultation with the Autonomous Regions, may require<br />

to teach specifi c modules. Exceptionally, qualifi ed individuals who work in<br />

their profession and who may not hold degrees may be hired as specialists,<br />

according to their qualifi cations and the needs of the educational system, to<br />

teach specifi c modules. Such hiring will be done under the administrative or<br />

labour regime and in accordance with the applicable regulations.<br />

– Arts education (Section 96). The university graduate degree of Licenciado,<br />

Engineer or Architect, or an equivalent graduate degree for teaching purposes<br />

will be required to teach arts education, notwithstanding the educational<br />

contribution of other professionals in teaching 1st level and upper level<br />

visual arts and design subjects and other degree requirements for teaching<br />

purposes that the government, in consultation with the Autonomous<br />

Regions, may d<strong>et</strong>ermine for specifi c modules. The pedagogical and didactic<br />
