soit en caractères romains, soit en oghams. Cette tâche est plus difficile qu'on
ne pense peut-être; car la plupart de ces pierres sont restées en pleins champs.
M. Rhys donne ses lectures de ces inscriptions, et elles diiïèrent par endroits des
lectures déjà publiées. Il les accompagne en même temps de réflexions sur les
inscriptions ou sur les monuments qui les conservent. Il est malheureux que ces
vénérables débris de l'antiquité britannique restent dispersés au hasard, et sans
que rien les garantisse de la ruine ou de la destruction, quand leur ensemble
constituerait une si riche collection. La principauté de Galles n'aura-t-elle donc
pas un musée d'antiquités nationales? Il semble que l'Université d'Aberystwyth
en serait naturellement le siège.

which appears to be the first thing published on that subject, and it is to be
continued in future numbers. In January 1874 there is an article on LIoffion
laith (Gleanings of Philology) in which the principles of Philology are explained
and illustra ted.
a third article on Hen Lyfrau y Cymry (Old Welsh Books)ap-
peared in the number for January 1874. In it are registered and described a
'considérable number of pamphlets, such as Ballads and Almanacs which had not
;been previously noticed. It describes aiso a very early édition, if not the first in
'Welsh, of Thomas a'ICempis, and gives a full account of the old catholic work
!of Cardinal Bellarmin « Eglurhad Hdacth-Lawn i'r Athrarviaeth Gristnogawl « the
translation of which is ascribed, by the writer of the article, to GruiTydd Ro-
berts the grammarian.
Dysgedydd. a second article on Do (yes) has appeared in the April (1873)
number of this periodical, in which the author attempts to explain the meaning
!of the several particles used in Welsh as answers to différent forms of questions.
