From <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> above comparis<strong>on</strong>s it resulted that from a phytogeographic point <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> view <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Mediterranean</str<strong>on</strong>g> areas here c<strong>on</strong>sidered have a higher degree <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> similarity than that shown<br />

from a floristic point <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> view. No marked disc<strong>on</strong>tinuities, at least at large scale, resulted even<br />

though in limited areas chorological spectra can show peculiar characteristics [e.g. <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Straits<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Messina with marked Atlantic characteristics (Giacc<strong>on</strong>e & Rizzi L<strong>on</strong>go 1976); <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> banks<br />
