Finally, for each site, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mercury c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s, all years mingled, are higher in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

rhizomes than in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> scales, but this difference is significant <strong>on</strong>ly for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sites <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Lumio<br />

and Macinaggio (ANOVA, p = 0.0002 and p = 0.0001 respectively, Fig 2). Regarding<br />

<strong>on</strong>ly <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> scales, all years mingled, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s are<br />

significantly higher in Bastia (ANOVA, p = 0.00001) than in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> two o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs sites (Fig. 2).<br />

For <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> rhizomes, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> tendency is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> differences between sites are not<br />

significant (ANOVA, p = 0.0636; Fig. 2).<br />

• Influence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> site<br />

The average mercury c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong> in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> belowground part is determined taking into<br />

account <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> relative c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> each tissue. The previously observed tendencies stay<br />

valid. All years mingled, Bastia presents <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> highest c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s compared to Lumio<br />

and Macinaggio, which are little different <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r (Table 1).<br />

• Influence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> year<br />

Annual differences <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mercury c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s are recorded all sites and tissues<br />

mingled (Table 1). The 1998 year presents <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> weakest c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s, whereas <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

maximal c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s are observed for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> year 1999.<br />
