308 FRUIT ET GRAINE. tain nombre de cas, cependant, la résorption du nucelle n'est que partielle, et tout autour du sac subsiste une couche plus ou moins épaisse de parenchyme. Ordinairement la croissance de l'embryon et la formation de l'albumen détruisent cette couche, etle sac embryonnaire vient encore s'appuyer directement sur le tégument (fig. 429) ; mais, exceptionnellement, le nucelle, loin de se résorber, muliplie ses cellules, s'accroît et produit un tissu, périsperme, rempli de matières nutritives. Le sort ultérieur de ce périsperme est variable : tantôt la croissance'finale du sac embryonnaire le détruit, tantôt il persiste entre le tégument et le sac embryonnaire ; s'il y a un albumen, l'embryon possède deux réserves nutritives (Nymphaea, Piper, lingibcr) ; lorsqu'il n'y a pas d'albumen, le périsperme seul constitue la réserve (fig. 430). Quand l'ovule possède deux téguments, l'interne est quelquefois résorbé ; mais il subsiste le plus souvent, alors il double le tégument externe et s'accroît en même temps que le sac embryonnaire.
