V. LOCAL PERSONNEL<br />

(1) The Government shall assign an Administrative and Liaison Officer to<br />

assist the ECA secretariat in its local relations arising out of this agreement.<br />

(2) The Government shall also engage and provide at its expense an adequate<br />

number of typists, secretaries, clerks, etc. required for the proper<br />

functioning of the Meeting. An exact list of requirements will be provided<br />

by the ECA. This staff is to be available from approximately 25 April 1967<br />

as requested by the ECA secretariat.<br />

(3) The Government shall also engage and provide at its expense the drivers<br />

of the cars and buses referred to in Section III above.<br />

(4) The Government agrees to indemnify and save harmless the <strong>United</strong><br />

<strong>Nations</strong> from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims or other demands<br />

arising out of the employment for the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> of the personnel referred<br />

to in this section.<br />

VI. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS<br />

The Government shall contribute to the defraying of the extra costs<br />

to the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong>, estimated at US$ 7,000, resulting from the convening<br />

of the Meeting in Accra rather than at the headquarters of the Economic<br />

Commission for Africa at Addis Ababa. It is understood that the Government<br />

will provide air tickets, economy class with 10 kgs. excess baggage, for not<br />

more than 10 members of the ECA secretariat from Addis Ababa and other<br />

points to Accra and return. The balance of these funds, which may be provided<br />

in local currency, shall be utilized by the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> to meet subsistence<br />

and other costs at established <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> rates for the staff provided<br />

by the ECA. All other local expenses required for the servicing of the Meeting<br />

will be met by the Ghana Government.<br />

VII. PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITIES<br />

(1) The Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong>'<br />

shall be fully applicable with respect to the Meeting. Accordingly, officials<br />

of the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> performing functions in connexion with the Meeting<br />

shall enjoy the privileges and immunities provided in Articles V and VII of<br />

the said Convention.<br />
