17. Hôtel des Halles
PORRENTRUY
De 1766 à 1769, le prince-évêque Simon-Nicolas de Montjoie fit rebâtir l’édifice sur l’emplacement
d’un ancien hôtel. Il y fit aménager, au deuxième étage, un appartement pour les hôtes étrangers.
Préfecture du Département du Mont-Terrible de 1794 à 1800; aujourd’hui Office de la Culture et
Bibliothèque cantonale. Rénové de 1994 à 1997.
Im Jahre 1766 liess der Fürstbischof Simon-Nicolas de Montjoie das Gebäude neu erbauen. Im
zweiten Stock wurden auch Gäste untergebracht, die im Schloss keinen Platz fanden. Das ehemalige
Markt- und Kaufhaus war zwischen 1794 und 1800 die Präfektur des französischen Departements
du Mont-Terrible. Heute sind darin das Office de la Culture und die Kantonsbibliothek untergebracht.
Der Bau wurde von 1994 bis 1997 renoviert.
This structure was built on the initiative of the Prince-Bishop Simon-Nicolas de Montjoie in 1766.
When there was an overflow of guests at the castle, there was accommodation for them in the
second story of this building. From 1794 to 1800 this building served as the location of the prefecture
of the French department of Mont-Terrible. Today, it houses the cultural office and the canton’s
library. It was renovated from 1994 to 1997.
18. Hôtel de Ville
Elégant bâtiment baroque, situé au centre de la cité. Oeuvre de Pierre-François Paris de 1761 à 1764,
alliant des influences française et allemande du sud.
Das Rathaus, ein elegantes barockes Gebäude im Stadtzentrum, ist das Werk von Pierre-François
Paris, der es 1761-64 auf alten Fundamenten neu erbaute. Es weist französische und süddeutsche
Einflüsse auf.
The City hall is an elegant Baroque building designed by Pierre-François Paris and located in the
middle of the city. It was built on older structures from 1761 to 1764, and features both French and
South German influences.
