14. Faubourg et Porte de France (à l’est)
PORRENTRUY
Deux tours rondes flanquent l’ouverture de la porte. Construite au 14 e siècle, transformée en 1563
et restaurée en 1764 et 1934.

Zwei stämmige Rundtürme flankieren den Torbau.
The city gate was built in the fourteenth century, rebuilt in1563 and then restored in 1764 and in
1934. The gate is flanked by a sturdy round tower on each side.
F. Tour du Coq
Accolée à l’angle nord-est, bâtisse ronde massive, à quatre niveaux, pourvue d’un pilier central supportant
des voûtes circulaires; ouvertures des fenêtres en 1756. Elle a abrité les archives de l’ancien Evêché
de Bâle jusqu’en 1898. Armes des Blarer de Wartensee peintes du côté ville; rénovation en 1960.
Der an die Nordost-Ecke des Schlosses angefügte Hahnenturm ist ein massiger Rundturm von 4 Geschossen
mit Mittelpfeiler und Kreisgewölben; Fensteröffnungen von 1756. Bis 1898 waren im Turm
die fürstbischöflichen Archive untergebracht. Stadtseitig Wappen des Bistums und von Blarer. Der Turm
wurde 1960 renoviert.
The Rooster Tower, which was added onto the north east corner of the castle, is a massive round tower
four stories high with a central pillar and circular vaulting. The window openings date from 1756. The
tower served as the repository for the prince-bishop’s archives until 1898. It features the coats of arms
of von Blarer and of the bishopric. The tower was renovated in 1960.
G. Château
Aujourd’hui, restauré et occupé par les autorités judiciaires du canton, le premier château de pierre
a été construit au 13 e siècle. Imposant édifice, il s’est agrandi au cours des siècles de remarquables
constructions Renaissance, jusqu’au pavillon de la princesse Christine de Saxe, au début du 18 e
siècle, de style Régence.
Das Schloss, heute ein kantonales Verwaltungsgebäude (Gerichtsgebäude), geht auf das 13. Jahrhundert
zurück. Umfangreiche Schlossanlage mit beachtlichen Bauten von der Renaissance bis zum Pavillon
der Prinzessin Christine von Saxen, der anfangs 18. Jah-rhundert im Régence-Stil erbaut wurde.
The castle which dates back to the thirteenth century today serves as an administration building
for the canton – it is the court house. There are impressive Renaissance buildings on the expansive
grounds around the castle. The Princess Christine of Saxony Pavilion was built in the Regency Style at
the beginning of the eighteenth century.
