verbessern, lücken im angebot entdecken, sie

than what we need to live comfortably. on closer 

inspection, demanding customers quickly notice

auf bio-ethanolbasis für jeden anspruch 

und geldbeutel. die brennkammer mit ihrem keramikschwamm 

im inneren garantiert ein besonders 

schönes, gleichmäßiges flammenspiel und einfache 

betriebsbereitschaft bis zum letzten tropfen. die 

durchdachte konstruktion erlaubt eine unabhängige 

und freie platzierung.

time was nothing out of the ordinary 

and tended to be a poor source of heat is nowadays 

a luxury. 

the »HOME FLAME COLLECTION« offers the romanticism 

of flames on a bio-ethanol basis for every use 

and budget. the combustion chamber with its ceramic 

foam inside guarantees an especially attractive, 

even set of flames and simple operation down to 

the last drop. its sophisticated design allows freestanding 

operation wherever it is desired. 

the combustion chamber in overview:

as is necessary for gels and pastes. as such it allows 

clean residue-free burning.

NACHWORT 

das wirken von michael rösing (jg. 62) ist gekennzeichnet 

von einer großen liebe zur technik sowie 

einem ausgeprägten sinn für funktionale und formale 

vollkommenheit. 

schon in der schulzeit erforscht rösing seine talente 

in vielen verschiedenen gewerken. die dabei 

entdeckte leidenschaft für die produktgestaltung 

wird früh zum berufswunsch. nach einer schreinerlehre 

beginnt er, einem elterlichen rat folgend, ein 

architekturstudium. die freiheit der kreativität im 

design, motivieren ihn 1985 in die selbständigkeit 

als produktentwickler zu gehen. schließlich wurde 

er auch mitglied im rat für formgebung - german 

design council. 

michael rösing ist perfektionist. etwas dem zufall zu 

überlassen, kommt für ihn nicht in frage. gedanke, 

entwicklung und umsetzung bilden eine untrennbare 

einheit. eine produktidee ist erst dann gut, wenn 

sie sich auch fertigungstechnisch und ästhetisch 

realisieren lässt. dies gilt sowohl für seine eigenen 

entwürfe, als auch für die anderer kreativer, welche 

er nach eingehender prüfung als verleger produziert. 

das konzept funktioniert von anfang an. 

als mitte der 90iger die nachfrage die produktionskapazitäten 

überrollt, ist die zeit reif für ein größeres 

firmengebäude. rösing baut getreu seiner devise: 

gute architektur lässt sich mit einfachen mitteln 

realisieren. auf der basis von normbauteilen für eine 

simple industrielagerhalle entsteht ein repräsentativer 

unternehmenssitz. 1998 bezieht die komplette 

belegschaft das neue gebäude, in dem entwicklung, 

produktion, lagerhaltung, versand und administration 

in angenehmer atmosphäre unter einem dach 

kooperieren. 

nachdem die räumlichen voraussetzungen für die 

zukunft des unternehmens geschaffen sind, wächst 

das unternehmen und das produktportfolio weiter. 

designklassiker entwickeln sich - die qualität der 

produkte überzeugt. 

michael rösing konzentriert sich vorrangig auf 

das entwerfen und verlegen von produkten rund 

um schöneres wohnen und leben. sein faible für 

licht hat er unter dem dach der marke: ABSOLUT 

LIGHTING gebündelt. kleinmöbel und outdoorprodukte 

werden unter dem label: RADIUS DESIGN produziert 

und vermarktet. 

was rösing immer weiter treibt und zuversichtlich 

nach vorne schauen lässt, ist seine leidenschaft für 

eine anspruchsvolle kultur des alltags. er vertraut 

auf seinen instinkt, und auf den allgemeinen lerneffekt 

der konsumenten aus deren erfahrungen mit 

billigwaren. ABSOLUT LIGHTING und RADIUS DESIGN 

produkte zeichnen sich durch ihre hohe qualität in 

der verarbeitung, funktion und form aus, ohne beim 

preis in der luxusklasse zu landen. 

der privatmann michael rösing schwärmt für oldtimer 

und wünscht sich auch für seine eigenen fabrikate: 

»viel spirit neben der funktionalität.« 

EPILOG 

the work of michael rösing (born in 62) is characterized 

by a great love of technology and a marked 

sense of formal and functional perfection. 

even back in his schooldays rösing tried his hand at 

many different enterprises. the passion for product 

design he then discovered soon transformed itself 

into a career aspiration. after an apprenticeship as 

a carpenter and joiner he followed his parents‘ advice 

and embarked upon the study of architecture. 

however, in 1985, he 

was motivated by the freedom of creativity in design, 

to try his luck as a freelance product developer. 

also he became a member of the german design 

council. 

michael rösing is a perfectionist. for him, leaving 

anything up to chance is out of the question. idea, 

development and implementation form an inseparable 

entity. and a product idea is no good unless it 

can be realized in terms of production technology 

and aesthetics. this applies both to his own designs 

and to those of other creatives, ideas that he only 

produces as a publisher after exhaustive tests. the 

concept functions from the word go. 

when, in the mid-1990s, demand suddenly outstripped 

his production capacities, the time had come 

for larger company premises. rösing built true to 

his motto: good architecture can be realized using 

simple means. a very presentable company headquarters 

was built on the basis of standard parts for 

a simple industrial warehouse. in 1998 the entire 

workforce moved into the new building which allowed 

development, production, warehousing, dispatch 

and administration to cooperate in a pleasant 

atmosphere under one roof. 

once the spatial prerequisites for the company‘s future 

had been put in place, the company and the 

portfoilio of products grows. design classics evolve 

- the quality of the products convinces. 

today, michael rösing is once again concentrating 

primarily on designing and putting out all 

kinds of products connected with a more beautiful 

living environment. and whereas the ABSOLUT 

LIGHTING brand provides an umbrella for his weakness 

for light, occasional furniture and outdoor products 

are produced and marketed under the label of 

RADIUS DESIGN. 

the thing that continues to drive rösing and keeps 

him looking confidently forwards is his passion for a 

sophisticated culture of the everyday. he trusts his 

instincts and the fact that consumers have learnt 

from their experiences with cheap goods. ABSOLUT 

LIGHTING and RADIUS DESIGN products are distinguished 

by the high quality of their workmanship, 

their functionality and design and yet, in terms of 

price, are located outside the confines of the luxury 

class. they quickly redeem themselves through the 

satisfaction experienced by their owners. 

in private, michael rösing is an old-timer enthusiast. 

for his own production, too, he is looking for: 

»not only functionality but also a great deal of spirit.«

EPILOGUE 

les créations de michael roesing (né en 1962) se 

caractérisent par un grand amour de la technique 

et un sens marqué de la perfection fonctionnelle et 

formelle. 

dès l’école, roesing explore ses talents dans diverses 

domaines. c’est ainsi qu’il découvre sa passion pour 

la conception de produits, à laquelle il décide très 

tôt de se consacrer. après un apprentissage de menuiserie, 

il commence, en suivant les conseils de ses 

parents, des études d’architecture. la liberté qu’offre 

le design en matière de créativité le motive en 1985 

à devenir développeur de produits indépendant. il 

est également devenu membre du german design 

council. 

michael roesing est un perfectionniste. pas question 

pour lui de laisser quoi que ce soit au hasard. réflexion, 

développement et mise en oeuvre forment une 

unité indissociable. l’idée d’un produit n’est bonne 

que si elle est techniquement réalisable et présente 

des qualités esthétiques. ceci vaut à la fois pour ses 

propres créations et pour celles des autres créatifs 

qu’il produit en tant qu’éditeur après un contrôle 

approfondi. le concept doit fonctionner dès le départ. 

lorsqu’au milieu des années 90, la demande dépasse 

les capacités de production, il est temps de doter 

l’entreprise de locaux plus vastes. roesing construit 

en restant fidèle à sa devise : une bonne architecture 

peut être réalisée à l’aide de moyens simples. 

un siège représentatif de l’entreprise voit le jour à 

partir d’éléments standardisés qui forment un bâtiment 

industriel simple. en 1998, l’ensemble des 

employés emménagent dans les nouveaux locaux, 

le développement, la production, le stockage, 

l’expédition et l’administration coopèrent dès lors 

sous le même toit dans une ambiance agréable. 

une fois l’avenir assuré pour ce qui est des bâtiments, 

l’entreprise et le portefeuille de produits 

continuent de s’agrandir. des classiques du design 

émergent, la qualité des produits est convaincante. 

michael roesing se concentre avant tout sur la création 

et l’édition de produits améliorant l’habitat et 

le cadre de vie. il laisse libre cours à son affection 

toute particulière pour la lumière sous la marque 

ABSOLUT LIGHTING. il produit et commercialise de 

petits meubles et des produits d’extérieur sous le 

label RADIUS DESIGN. 

roesing est sans cesse tiré vers l’avant, il regarde 

l’avenir avec confiance grâce à sa passion pour une 

culture d’exigence au quotidien. il se fie à son instinct 

et compte sur le fait que les consommateurs 

tireront les leçons de leurs expériences avec des produits 

bon marché. les produits ABSOLUT LIGHTING 

et RADIUS DESIGN se caractérisent par leur grande 

qualité matérielle, fonctionnelle et formelle sans 

pour autant devoir être classés dans la catégorie des 

produits de luxe.
