La société connaît une croissance importante dans le domaine de la sécurité intérieure, en ayant par exemple contribué à la mise en place du réseau informatique du DHS (Department of Homeland Security), ou encore à des systèmes de protection des infrastructures gouvernementales et industrielles. Dans le domaine de la défense, SAIC occupe une place de premier plan sur le programme FCS de l’US Army où il est associé à Boeing comme Lead System Integrator (LSI). Il est également LSI du programme GIG-BE (Global Information Grid-Bandwidth Extansion) au profit de la DISA. En 2007, SAIC a mené une campagne significative de croissance externe avec l’acquisition des sociétés suivantes : Applied Marine Technology, Bd Systems Inc, Varec Inc, et AETC Inc.
