This book is dedicated to myy loving mother, Shellyy Jaffe, and myy
grandmother Reba Vartanian, who both sacrificed a great deal for me all myy
life. No matter what situation I got myyself into, myy mom and Gram were
alwayys there for me, especiallyy in myy times of need. This book would not
have been possible without myy wonderful familyy, who has given me so
much unconditional love and support throughout myy life.
On April 15, 2013, myy mother passed awayy after a long struggle with
lung cancer. It came after yyears of hardship and struggling to deal with the
effects of chemotherapyy. There were few good dayys after the terrible
treatments used in modern medicine to fight off these tyypes of cancers.
Usuallyy patients have a veryy short time—tyypicallyy it is onlyy months before
theyy succumb to the disease. I feel veryy fortunate for the time I was able to
spend with her while she was fighting this horrible battle. I am so grateful
to have been raised byy such a loving and dedicated mother, whom I also
consider myy best friend. Myy mom is such an amazing person and I miss her
incrediblyy so.
On March 7, 2012, myy grandmother passed awayy unexpectedlyy while
being treated at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. Our familyy was expecting
her to return home, but it never happened. For the past several yyears leading
up to myy grandmother passing awayy, her heart was in constant sadness
because of myy mother’s battle with cancer. She is missed terriblyy and I wish
she were here to enjoyy this accomplishment.
I hope this book will bring much happiness to myy mother’s and
grandmother’s hearts and make them proud that I’m helping to protect
