Arvaamaton. Yllätyksellinen.Katu johtaa aina jonnekin. Kaupungilta teatterille, teatteriltakaupunkiin. Ovet ovat auki ja toivon, että liike kulkee molempiinsuuntiin. Kuten aiemminkin, teatteri on täynnä tapahtumia, muttatänä vuonna tarinoita kerrotaan myös kaupungilla. Ihmisiltäon kerätty kertomuksia, joita esitetään niiden tapahtumapaikoillaOulun kujilla ja kaduilla.Yksi tämän vuoden yhteistyökumppaneista on Pohjois-SuomenKatutanssi ry. Se näkyy liikkeenä ja esityksinä. Koskettaviahetkiä tarjoaa myös Turusta tuleva esitys, joka on syntynyt laitoksessaasuvien nuorten kertoman perusteella. Syrjäytymisuhanalla olevat nuoret, joiden tarinat liian usein pysyvät laitoksenseinien sisällä, tulevat näkyviksi. Projektista saavat voimaa sekätekijät että katsojat. Nuorten ääni kuuluu.Ruotsista tulee sanaton esitys Charlies Unge, joka sopii festivaalinteemaan hyvin. Yksi löytää kadulta rahaa, toinen pudonneenhansikkaan, kolmas hylätyn lapsen.Oulun kevät on täynnä valoa. Katu sykkii elämää – kuten lapsetja nuoretkin. Katu on hurja paikka, tie seikkailuun, ja kotiin.Festivaali tarjoaa monenlaisia esityksiä eri ikäisille. Tervetuloalapset ja nuoret!The road to the theatreThis year the theme of the Festival is Street. It is a place to meet.It is an opportunity. Unpredictable. Surprising. Roads alwayslead somewhere. From the city centre to the theatre, from theatreto town. The doors are open, and I hope the movement goesboth ways. Like before, the Festival is full of events, but this yearstories are also being told around the city. Tales that have beencollected from people throughout the spring will come alive intheir original places on the streets and sidewalks of Oulu.The Northern Finland Street Dance Association is one of theFestival’s co-operation partners this year. This will show in movementand in performances. One of the most touching momentsof the Festival comes with a show from Turku that has been bornout of experiences of young people living in child protection homes.Young people under the threat of alienation, whose storiestoo often stay within the four walls of the centre, will becomevisible. The project gives strength to its makers and viewers. Thevoices of young people will be heard.Charlies Unge, a performance from Sweden, reflects in manyways the theme of the Festival. One finds money on the street,one may stumble on a lost glove, another may find an abandonedchild.Oulu’s spring is full of light. The streets are full of life – justlike children and young people. A street can be a wild place, theroad to adventures, and home. The Festival offers many kindsof performances for different age groups.
