Alexander Theatre
– In the heart of Helsinki and in Helsinki’s heart
We are proud that Alexander Theatre is
- and has been – a centre of Helsinki’s
cultural life for 130 years. Our stage
bustles daily with life and action, not
to mention our rehearsal rooms and
offices. The theatre itself caters well to
visiting ensembles, offering excellent
facilities for all types of concerts, theatre
and dance performances. Many
prominent dance companies train,
perform and have their administration
at Alexander Theatre.
On request we can assist you in organizing
your event or private function.
Our technical facilities suit perfectly
in hosting even the most demanding
national and international visiting
performances. The main hall consists
of approximately 500 seats in a
historical atmosphere and has a fully
equipped stage. A full catering service
in the foyer is available, as well.
MUSIC
• Don Giovanni - Mozart’s classic opera and a new form of expression.
• The State Russian orchestra of Saint Petersburg (RCO)
with soloists from Mariinsky Theare.
• Kaunotarten kauneimmat - Christmas Jazz concert: Espoo Jazz Trio and
different guest performers. Soloists: Helena Lindgred and Anastasia Trizna.
• FORK - An a cappella band combining world-class singing, groundbreaking
sounds, comic talent and extravagant fashion.
• We Jazz 2013 - A splendid Jazz Festival!
DANCE
• K. Kvarnström & Co: Come back (to me) - Dancers sing and musicians
dance in Kenneth Kvarnströms performance.
• Double – Haapalainen & Suutari-Jääskö - Internationally most
successful Finnish Latin dancers finally back in Helsinki.
• Art Fysio Gala - A fundraising gala – dancing for dancers.
• Susanna Leinonen Company - One of the brightest groups of Finnish dance on stage.
• Kaarina Maununtytär - Aku Ahjolinna’s choreography & Annina Enckell’s
libretto about a pheasant girl who became the Queen of Sweden in 1567.
• Itsenäisyyspäivän tanssilliset iltamat - The little ballet of Finland hosts the
Independence Day celebration.
OTHERS
• Circo Aereo & Thomas Monckton: The Pianist - A spectacularly
amusing catastrophe concert for everybody between 5 and 105.
• Soirée à Saint-Pétersbourg - An evening dedicated to St. Petersburg and
to the life of Finns, Swedes and Russians in the early 19th century in
that romantic city. One short play (in Finnish) and a lot of music.
• ShoWhat - Look-a-like popstars on stage. The best drag show in town.
• Varietee Magica Show - The great magician and stand-up comedian
brings his show on stage.
