SIRKKA-LIISA SUVILAAKSO<br />
Olen ammatiltani designer, teen sisustuksia koteihin sekä toimisto- että erilaisiin<br />
liiketiloihin.<br />
Sisustin Finnairin toimiston muutaman kerran sekä suurlähettilään virkaasunnon<br />
Ottawassa, viimeksi suunnittelin sisustuksen Finlandia Villagen uudisrakennukseen.<br />
Minulla on kaksi lasta. Marco, hän asuu Oulussa perheineen ja heillä on kaksi<br />
lasta,<br />
Aava ja Niilo. Tanja asuu puolisonsa kanssa Torontossa. Hän on työssä Plan<br />
Canadassa.<br />
Hänen vastuualueensa on lasten hyvinvointi kehitysmaissa.<br />
Tohtori Ylänkö suositteli minua aikoinaan johtokuntaan ja olenkin ollut jo<br />
pitkän tovin<br />
johtokunnassa mukana. Puheenjohtajana olen ollut muutaman vuoden. Koen, että <strong>Suomi</strong>-<strong>Koti</strong><br />
on suomalaisyhteisölle suuriarvoinen organisatio ja sen menestys ja asukkaiden hyvinvointi<br />
ovat minulle tärkeitä asioita. Alusta alkaen tehtäviini on kuulunut varojenkeräyskamppanjat<br />
sekä<br />
PR-toiminta.<br />
<strong>Suomi</strong>-<strong>Koti</strong> on ollut minulle toinen koti. Olen ylpeä suomalaisten yhteistyöstä ja kannatuksesta jo<br />
kolmenkymmenen vuoden ajan.<br />
TUULA HAUKIOJA<br />
After a career practicing law in Toronto, in 1991 I went to Zurich,<br />
Switzerland for 5 years where I trained at the C.G Jung Institut to become<br />
a psychoanalyst.<br />
I have been in private practice in Toronto since 1996 and truly enjoy<br />
this work. Three years ago I also became to co-owner of a pet sitting<br />
company,<br />
BredinsBest, which employs about 25 happy people who look after<br />
pets while their owners are away.<br />
My mother Sara is from Karelia and my father Oliver from the Lahti area. They immigrated to Canada<br />
in 1951 bringing along myself and my brother Ari. Our<br />
sister Olivia was born a few months later in Chapleau, in Northern Ontario where they settled. My<br />
dad was an extremely hard worker and entrepreneur which enabled them to retire early and enjoy<br />
many winters in Florida and summers here fishing and golfing. My brother is a doctor in Cobourg,<br />
Ontario and has a large family of 5 children and now 2 grandchildren. Olivia just retired from a<br />
career in the Ontario Public Service and has 2 daughters and a grandson. My parents moved into<br />
<strong>Suomi</strong>-<strong>Koti</strong> three years ago and my dad is now in the Nursing Home.<br />
I have been on the <strong>Suomi</strong>-<strong>Koti</strong> Board since 1997 with a one year absence. I bring to the Board a legally<br />
trained mind that can identify issues, ask questions and keep discussion and action focussed<br />
on proper process. I find it interesting and challenging to interact with different personalities<br />
and viewpoints and to try to ensure that a harmonious and workable balance is kept between dealing<br />
with very real financial constraints and upholding the values and philosophy upon which <strong>Suomi</strong>-<br />
<strong>Koti</strong> is founded which is to provide a comfortable, safe and<br />
vibrant community in which our members can truly enjoy their latter years.<br />
