The Year 1991<br />
The Acquaintance<br />
I met the mother of my child in a dance restaurant on the March 9.<br />
Our slightly quarrelsome acquaintance began. She revealed suddenly<br />
at one intimate moment of June that she had never taken pills. Before<br />
this, she wanted to make sure I shall not get mad at her, if she confessed<br />
something to me. I would stay calm, I convinced. I had made<br />
up my mind: if this woman becomes pregnant, it is all right then! I<br />
was 33 already. In August she slammed at me that she has never<br />
claimed having taken pills.<br />
As early as in the autumn we both were ready to let the other one go.<br />
Nonetheless, the mother of my child had sensed that she may be pregnant.<br />
She took the pregnancy test on the 14 th October and heard of the<br />
result next day. I was invited by her to Helsinki to hear of it. She was<br />
in her 8 th month and was not able to hide her happiness.<br />
She began to snoop my ultimate intents in this relationship; she forced<br />
me to vow that I shall not now hit the road leaving her alone with the<br />
baby. That is, I should commit myself to a lifetime union with her at<br />
this early stage, for by no means she wanted to end up as a single
