These results address the importance of health education and health promotion<br />
among children and their whole families. Food choices regarding the use of milk and<br />
bread spreads were close to the recommendations, but there obviously are challenges<br />
in the use of sweet food products or inadequate consumption of vegetables and<br />
fruit. Of particular concern is the tendency, that school aged children do not eat the<br />
school lunches or eat only some of the food provided during lunch. More attention<br />
needs to be paid to the main lifestyle issues among children such as sleeping,<br />
physical activity, sedentary lifestyle including the use of amusement media, teeth<br />
brushing and tobacco and alcohol use. Prevention of accidents and injuries should<br />
be on agenda in health promotion work among children and their families.<br />
The work to develop the national child health monitoring system will be<br />
continued. Its aim is to establish a process to regularly follow and report child<br />
health and welfare issues.<br />
