Spraying with residual insectici<strong>de</strong>s for vector control remains the principal<br />

component of Chagas disease control. Despite the un<strong>de</strong>niable overall success of<br />

vector control campaigns in reducing domestic infestation with triatomines in many<br />

countries (including during early stages of the Venezuelan programme), resurgence<br />

of triatomine populations at varying time points after spraying has been documented<br />

and constitutes one of the greatest potential technical limitations of control<br />

programmes. Given the apparent limited success [1] of the Venezuelan house<br />

spraying control programme to progress towards its recent targets (house infestation<br />

in<strong>de</strong>x with Rhodnius prolixus
