Dear friends, exhibitors, guests and fans
of noble sighthounds and ancient Mediterranean sighthound breeds,
Welcome to the great anniversary
of 25 years Sighthound
Festival Donaueschingen. – Without
any doubt that is a reason
to celebrate.
The greatest present to the organisers
was given by the exhibitors.
With a new record of
more than 1.600 entries coming
from 25 nations our continuously
growing event is making history
– not only at the German
Sighthound Association.
Fanciers and breeders of noble
sighthounds are travelling from
all parts of Germany and continental
Europe, Scandinavia,
Russia, the UK and Ireland as
well as from the United States,
Southern America and Australia
to take part at Europe’s greatest
specialty at Donaueschingen.

The originally called “Donaueschinger
Windhundtage” developed
during the years to become
the meeting point of the
sighthound scene worldwide
into a truly Sighthound Festival.
Big names of specialists with a
worldwide reputation, famous
sighthound breeders and renowned
personalities are part of
the international judges panel.
That’s what the event stands for.
The common passion for sighthounds
is celebrated. A cosmopolitan
attitude – embedded in
a fantastically beautiful landscapes
at the historical source of
the Danube river – combined
with an almost perfect show
ground makes it unique.
25 years ago pioneers of sighthounds
in Germany started to
create a central international
meeting point for fanciers of all
sighthound breeds. When reporting
about the first edition of
the show the Swiss sighthound
magazine “Windhundfreund”
titled at the time: “It should be
allowed to have dreams.” – No
one ever believed that a world
leading sighthound event
would be hosted one day by the
German Sighthound Association.
While celebrating the 25th
anniversary of this paramount
sighthound specialty it shows
that sometimes dreams come
true!
