Así como la primavera es una etapa de florecimiento, donde surgen nuevas fuerzas
y energías, de esta misma manera damos inicio a San Miguel Life, en la que,
a través de nuestros contenidos, mostramos las cosas bellas de la vida.

San Miguel de Allende
Ubicado en el estado de Guanajuato, San Miguel
de Allende sorprende a sus visitantes con
su arquitectura colonial y su vibrante cultura.
Es una ciudad pintoresca y cosmopolita al mismo
tiempo. Con sus estrechas calles empedradas,
patios arbolados, detalles arquitectónicos
y suntuosos interiores, alguna vez fue una importante
parada en la ruta de la plata entre Zacatecas
y la Ciudad de México.
Su centro histórico está lleno de edificios que
datan de los siglos XVII y XVIII, destaca la pa-
rroquia de San Miguel de Arcángel, símbolo de
la ciudad; el ex Palacio Municipal, construido
en 1736; los templos de San Agustín y de Nuestra
Señora de la Salud; y la Casa del Mayorazgo.
En 2008, la UNESCO nombró a San Miguel
de Allende y el aledaño Santuario de Jesús de
Atotonilco, Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad,
citando a la arquitectura religiosa y la
arquitectura civil del poblado como una muestra
de la evolución de las diferentes tendencias
y estilos, desde el Barroco hasta el Neogótico
de finales del siglo XIX.

Located in the state of Guanajuato, San Miguel de
Allende surprises visitors with its colonial architecture
and vibrant culture.
It is a picturesque and cosmopolitan city at the
same time. With its narrow cobbled streets, treelined
courtyards, architectural details and sumptuous
interiors, it was once an important stop on
the Silver Road between Zacatecas and Mexico
City.
Its historic center is full of buildings dating
from the 17th and 18th centuries, highlights
the parish of San Miguel de Arcángel, symbol
of the city; the former Municipal Palace,
built in 1736; the temples of San Agustin and
Nuestra Señora de la Salud; and the Casa del
Mayorazgo.
In 2008, UNESCO named San Miguel de
Allende and the surrounding area Santuario
de Jesus de Atotonilco, a World Heritage Site,
citing the religious architecture and civil architecture
of the town as an example of the evolution of
different trends and styles, from the Baroque to
the Gothic Revival of the late 19th century.

las ciudades coloniales tienen una
mezcla única de cultura hispánica e
indígena.

from North to South, many of the colonial
cities have a unique mixture of
Hispanic and indigenous culture.
Oaxaca
Oaxaca, capital del estado sureño del mismo nombre, que significa
“País de las nubes”, fue fundada en 1526, llamándose
entonces Villa de Antequera de Guaxaca. Sus raíces coloniales
pueden observarse a plenitud en su bien conservada arquitectura,
así como en sus calles y plazas. En total Oaxaca alberga
29 templos o iglesias que datan de la época colonial. A ellos se
suman diversas edificaciones civiles, como la Biblioteca Pública
del Estado, los arcos de Xochimilco, la Plaza de Danza y la
Casa Museo de Benito Juárez, oriundo de esta ciudad.
En el centro, también es posible admirar la antigua Plaza Mayor,
el Palacio de Gobierno y la Catedral. Hacia el sur se encuentra
el templo de la Compañía de Jesús y el templo de San
Francisco, y en el este la Casa de la Cultura de Oaxaca y el
Teatro Macedonio Alcalá. Hacia el norte, se ubica el convento
de Santa Catalina y el imponente Templo de Santo Domingo,
en el que se aloja el Museo Regional de Oaxaca.
Oaxaca, capital of the southern state of the same name, meaning
“Country of the clouds”, was founded in 1526, then called
Villa de Antequera de Guaxaca. Its colonial roots can be fully
observed in its well-preserved architecture, as well as in its
streets and squares. In total Oaxaca houses 29 temples or
churches dating from the colonial era. They are joined by various
civil buildings, such as the State Public Library, the arches
of Xochimilco, the Plaza de Danza and the Benito Juarez House
Museum.
In the center, it is also possible to admire the old Plaza
Mayor, the Government Palace and the Cathedral. To the south
is the temple of the Compañia de Jesus and the temple of San
Francisco, and in the east the House of Culture of Oaxaca and
the Macedonian Theater Alcala. To the north is the convent of
Santa Catalina and the imposing Santo Domingo Temple, which
houses the Oaxaca Regional Museum.

Guadalajara
Capital de Jalisco, conocida como la “Perla del Occidente”,
es considerada como una de las metrópolis
más hermosas de América Latina. La ciudad
es núcleo de una gran actividad artística y cultural
y su centro se encuentra ornamentado de importantes
edificios que destacan por su trascendencia
arquitectónica e histórica, como la Basílica de Guadalajara,
el Instituto Cultural Cabañas, el Paraninfo
Universitario y el Teatro Degollado. También son
muy recomendables las plazas que caracterizan a
la ciudad, particularmente la Plaza Tapatía.
Guadalajara se caracteriza por su sólida identidad
cultural, que le ha dado la vuelta al mundo, por brindarle
la imagen iconográfica al país, como el traje
típico de charro, el mariachi y su música; el delicioso
pozole; el tequila; el jarabe tapatío y su colorida
artesanía. También es conocida por los sitios de interés
que se encuentran en sus alrededores, como
Zapopan, Tlaquepaque y San Juan de los Lagos.
Jalisco’s capital, known as the “Pearl of the West”,
is considered one of the most beautiful metropolises
in Latin America. The city is the nucleus of a great
artistic and cultural activity and its center is decorated
with important buildings that stand out for their
architectural and historical significance, such as the
Basilica of Guadalajara, the Cabañas Cultural Institute,
the University Paraninfo and the Degollado
Theatre. Also highly recommended are the squares
that characterize the city, particularly Plaza Tapatia.

Guanajuato
Ciudad de augusta belleza y capital del estado del mismo
nombre, debe su aspecto a la intensa actividad minera que
desde la época virreinal ha tenido lugar en la región. Guanajuato
es considerado uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos más
bellos del mundo, que en su momento la denominó “Roma de
América”, Alejandro Von Humboldt. Además de sus famosos
callejones, existen numerosos edificios monumentales como,
el Teatro Benito Juárez, la Alhóndiga de Granaditas, la cripta
del panteón municipal y la Universidad de Guanajuato donde
se exhiben las famosas momias. Destaca igualmente el monumento
del Pípila, uno de los símbolos de la ciudad.
En Guanajuato existe un sinfín de mercados de artesanías, en
donde se pueden admirar diversas piezas locales de alfarería:
orfebrería; esculturas en cantera y figuras de momias, elaboradas
con dulce de charamusca, muy típicas de la región.

City of August beauty and capital of the state of the same

since the viceregal era has taken place in the region. Guanajuato
is considered one of the most beautiful architectural
ensembles in the world, which at the time called it “Rome of

Mérida
Es la capital de Yucatán y se le conoce como
la “Ciudad Blanca”, porque predomina ese color
en la mayoría de sus construcciones. Como ciudad
antigua, Mérida combina edificaciones modernas
con una majestuosa arquitectura, plazas
y jardines de trazo colonial. Entre sus atractivos,
están La Casa de Montejo, el Palacio de Gobierno
o la misma catedral, de estilo mozárabe
y considerada como el edificio más antiguo de
su género en América. Otras edificaciones son:
el Palacio Cantón, que alberga al Museo de Antropología
e Historia, y el teatro Peón Contreras,
de clara influencia europea.
Entre los espacios abiertos de la ciudad, destaca
el famoso Paseo Montejo, con sus mansiones
tipo europeo, y el parque Centenario, donde se
encuentra el zoológico de la ciudad. En la zona
de mercados, es posible adquirir prendas artesanales
típicas de Yucatán.
It is the capital of Yucatan and is known as the “Ciudad Blanca”, because
that color predominates in most of its buildings. As an ancient
city, Merida combines modern buildings with majestic architecture,
squares and gardens of colonial design. Among its attractions, are La

“steakhouses” han establecido un nuevo estilo de
consumir la carne roja, en especial de res, y de hacer
famosos los llamados “cortes americanos”, cuya calidad
es certificada. El sirloin, T-bone, roast beef, ya
sean asados, al carbón o a la plancha, son algunos
de los cortes americanos que gozan de fama mundial
y que han llevado a los consumidores de carne a designarlos
como los mejores cortes del mundo.
Algunos de los cortes de res más populares en Estados
Unidos son el New York Strip, el porterhouse, el sirloin
y el tenderloin o filet mignon. El chef puede llegar a
emplear diversos modos de asar la carne para mejorar
su sabor. Un método es el empleo de carbón vegetal
o el sellado por calor en la capa externa del filete, para
que de esta forma retenga los jugos en el interior.

Porterhouse es considerado el rey de los cortes y eso
se debe a que en realidad se trata de dos cortes en
uno. Por un lado tienes New York Strip —un clásico
por su suavidad y exquisito sabor— y por el otro Filet
Mignon, el corte más suave del vacuno.
El T-Bone, es un corte peculiar muy típico del mundo
anglosajón, que hoy en día se ha hecho un hueco de
excepción entre los amantes del vacuno alrededor del
mundo ya que combina dos de los cortes más suculentos
del animal: solomillo y lomo bajo.
Uno de los cortes americanos más de moda, la chuleta
Tomahawk, es un filete grueso al que no se le retira la
costilla, dando lugar a una presentación impresionante
y que nunca dejará indiferente a un comensal.
En los restaurantes “steakhouses” pueden encontrarse
algunas de las mejores carnes del mundo. Muchos de
los establecimientos de alto nivel solo sirven filetes provenientes
de un determinad origen. Chefs y comensales
reconocen las carnes certificadas con la etiqueta de
Angus, ya que ésta supone una garantía en cuanto a
carne jugosa y exquisita.
Ya sea que la carne esté preparada a la mantequilla,
sazonada ligeramente o marinada, siempre tendrá su
sabor característico. Este tipo de cortes de carne de
res son preferidos como plato fuerte, acompañados de
verduras o pasta, y complementándolos con un buen
vino tinto. Solo hay que decidir cuál de todos los cortes
queremos saborear.
Porterhouse is considered the king of the courts and
that’s because it’s actually two courts in one. On the
one hand you have New York Strip, a classic for its

El Té
una bebida milenaria
Cuenta la leyenda que hacia el año 2740 a.C. el emperador
chino Shên-Nung, mientras descansaba bajo la sombra
de un árbol, mandó traer una taza de agua hirviendo.
Durante su siesta, varias hojas de ese árbol de té cayeron
y se posaron en el agua. El emperador al probar el agua,
notó un sabor diferente; fue así como nació el té.
La costumbre de tomar té se remonta al año 2737 a.C. en
China. Sin embargo, cundió en Europa a partir de 1497,
cuando los portugueses llegaron a la India. Su consumo
se expandió a partir de 1720 y, con el paso del tiempo y el
comercio, el té llegó a todo le mundo.
El té se hace con la planta Camelia Sinesis, cuyo nivel de
fermentación da las características principales. En el mundo
hay más de tres mil variedades de tés que se basan en
esta planta y que son mezclados con otros sabores.
Legend has it that around 2740 B.C. the Chinese emperor

sent for a cup of boiling water. During his nap, several
leaves from that tea tree fell and landed on the water.
When the emperor tasted the water, he noticed a different
taste; that was how the tea was born.
The custom of drinking tea dates back to 2737 B.C. in

DEPORTES
Históricamente, el caballo ha sido un elemento
utilitario para el hombre. En la Edad
Media los corceles formaban parte de las
caballerías en tiempos de guerra, y se empleaban
los en torneos y juegos a caballos
en tiempos de paz. Es aquí donde nace la
equitación como deporte.
Historically, the horse has been a utilitarian
element for man. In the Middle Ages steeds
were part of the cavalry in times of war, and
were used in tournaments and horse games
in times of peace.
La equitación podemos definirla como “el arte de mantener
el control preciso sobre un caballo, así como los diferentes
modos de manejarlo”. Este deporte destaca por su elegancia
y sofisticación, se trata de una práctica solemne que no
cualquiera es capaz de dominar.
La equitación está regida por la Federación Ecuestre Internacional
(FEI) fundada en 1921, y es un deporte Olímpico

Riding can be defined as “the art of maintaining precise control
over a horse, as well as the different ways of handling it”.
This sport stands out for its elegance and sophistication, it is
a solemn practice that not everyone is able to master.
Horse riding is governed by the International Equestrian
Federation (FEI) founded in 1921, and is an Olympic sport
since 1900 in the disciplines of jumping, training and complete
competition or three-day test.

• Salto ecuestre.- El jinete tiene que guiar a su caballo
dentro de la pista de 20 x 60 metros, en el que
se encuentran una serie de obstáculos de salto, el
jinete y su caballo deberán pasar de un lado a otro
venciendo el obstáculo en la menor cantidad de
tiempo y sin faltas.
• Adiestramiento o Doma clásica.- Se basa en la
armonía entre jinete y caballo a través de la cuál se
realizan una serie de movimientos de gran dificultad.
Los caballos se desplazan lateralmente, giran
sobre sí mismos, cambian de pie al galope y ejecutan
aires de extrema dificultad y belleza, siempre
observados por los Jueces dentro de una pista de
20 x 60 metros.
• Equestrian jump. The rider has to guide his horse
inside the track of 20 x 60 meters, in which are a
series of jumping obstacles, the rider and his horse
must pass from one side to the other overcoming
the obstacle in the least amount of time and without
faults.
• Training or classical dressage. It is based on the
harmony between rider and horse through which a
series of movements of great difficulty are performed.
The horses move sideways, rotate on themselves,
change their feet at a gallop and execute
airs of extreme difficulty and beauty, always observed
by the Judges inside a track of 20 x 60 meters.
• Full Contest or Three Day Trial. It is the most
demanding within all equestrian disciplines, combining
training, cross country and equestrian jumping.
Each test is penalized with a score against, so
the pair that ends with the least amount of penalty
points will be the winner.
• Concurso completo o Prueba de los tres días.-
Es la más exigente dentro de todas las disciplinas
ecuestres, combinando el adiestramiento, cross
country y salto ecuestre. Cada prueba se va penalizando
con puntaje en contra, por lo que aquel binomio
que finalice con la menor cantidad de puntos
de penalización será el ganador.

DEPORTES
Existe un tipo de equitación básica, donde lo principal
es aprender a montar, y uno más avanzado,
usado para saltar, realizar carreras, acarrear ganado,
exhibición o equitación de alta escuela. Dentro
de las actividades en donde los caballos se utilizan
para deportes de alta competición, encontramos el
salto alto, salto largo, enduro, enganches, reining,
volteo, galope y trote.
En México, la Federación Ecuestre Mexicana, creada
en 1937, es el organismo encargado de regular
las normas en los eventos ecuestres a nivel nacional,
celebrar periódicamente competencias y eventos en
nuestro país, impulsando el deporte ecuestre y participando
con la comunidad hípica internacional.

las modas, incluso rompiendo en cierta medida con lo
que definía su anterior trabajo plástico, usa el óleo; es
decir, un material tradicional que, sin embargo, muestra
aquí su actualidad. La pintura, pintura, vuelve, pues, por
su fueros. Podría hablarse de un realismo sin fronteras,
que cala en la esencia de las preguntas eternas:
¿adónde vamos? ¿Por qué estamos aquí? ¿De qué se
trata? Por lo pronto, la pintura de Ramsés nos convoca
a celebrar la ofrenda del arte.
La ventanas han sido abiertas. No queda sino abrir los
sentidos.

Con la llegada del clima cálido los patios y

vivienda. Puede ser una sala de estar, una
cocina al aire libre, un rincón para tomar café,
un sitio para tomar el sol o relajarse, incluso el
lugar ideal para pasar el rato con los amigos.
Por eso elegir cuidadosamente la decoración
de estos espacios es fundamental.
With the arrival of warm weather the patios
and terraces become the center of our home.
It can be a living room, an outdoor kitchen, a
corner for coffee, a place to sunbathe or relax,
even the ideal place to hang out with friends.

Para decorar los exteriores es primordial determinar
un estilo, desde lo rústico, mexicano o provenzal hasta
lo minimalista o zen, cualquiera que se elija, si se

con un juego de mesas, tumbonas y plantas alrededor,
una cocineta con asador, una fuente al centro o hasta

Las plantas son el mejor elemento decorativo, se recomienda
que sean acordes al clima de la zona donde se
viva. El césped debe lucir verde y fresco y estar bien podado.
Las plantas pueden estar en jardineras, macetas
o en el suelo pero hay que poner especial atención en
su cuidado.

Diario de
un papa
Un día, llegando a mi casa, vi a mi vecina
con sus hijos regresando de la escuela. Les
pregunté a los niños en qué escuela iban y
qué les gustaba más.
Hace unos meses tuve que cambiar mi
lugar de residencia, y uno de los temas más
importantes era encontrar la mejor escuela
para mis hijos.
Busqué en internet, en google, revistas,
espectaculares y anuncios, y ninguna me
convencía al 100. Pensé en la ubicación del
colegio, sistema de enseñanza, instalaciones,
maestros, colegiaturas...
“Vamos en el NWL y está padrísima,

A few months ago I had to change

infancia, establece una conexión especial con los hijos.
En los momentos difíciles, enseñarles a ser perseverantes
para alcanzar sus objetivos, entrenarlos para la vida, es
una etapa importante, pues se transmiten los valores de
obediencia, sinceridad y orden.
Al llevarlos a la escuela, los pequeños comienzan con su
independencia. Aquí la madre permanece en el acompañamiento
y su papel sigue siendo primordial.

Con los hijos en la escuela y conviviendo con sus amigos, las madres
se vuelven confidentes, amigas y, sobre todo, guías. Aquí se

un canal de comunicación, para que el vínculo con sus hijos no se

y con discernimiento para guiarlos en su toma de decisiones.
La comunicación entre la madre y los hijos, es el lazo conductor

la permanencia en sus experiencias futuras para no salir del mapa y
esa comunicación se basa principalmente en el amor, la confianza y
seguridad que las madres trasmiten a sus hijos siempre.

Mascotas
que el calor no las afecte
Con las altas temperaturas, el sol hace
sentir su poder más temprano y la necesidad
de tomar agua es urgente. El calor es una
época para disfrutar, pero también la de dar
mayores cuidados para tu mejor amigo, esa
mascota consentida que se merece todo el
amor. Aquí algunas sugerencias para que
vivan esta temporada de calor.
With high temperatures, the sun makes

• Limpieza.- Dale un baño una vez al mes, así lo mantendrás
limpio. Sécalo bien, en especial sus oídos.
Cepíllalo dos o tres veces por semana.
FAMILIA
• Hidratación.- No olvides tener agua fresca en un recipiente
limpio para que la tenga cada vez que la requiera.
Incluso si hacen ejercicio, procura llevar una botella,
para hidratarlo.
• Alimentación.- Sírvele en las horas de menos calor.
Dale un alimento de calidad desde pequeño, con ingredientes
con proteínas que ayudarán a un crecimiento
saludable.
• Protección vs insectos.- Procura estar al día con sus
vacunas y temas de desparasitación, ya que durante el
calor es especialmente sensible a insectos.
• Caminatas y juegos.- Que sea en horas de menos sol,
por la mañana o por la tarde, ya que el piso podría quemarle
las patas. No paseen después de comer, para no
afectar su digestión.
• Cuídalo de un golpe de calor.- No es conveniente
llevar a nuestra mascota con nosotros y exponerlo al
sol, encerrarlo en un automóvil o tenerlo un espacio sin
ventilación adecuada, puede resultar peligroso.
Mantente alerta, si tu perro sufre de jadeo, respiración acelerada,
temperatura elevada, cambio de color en la lengua,
salivación constante, tambaleos, entre otros. Si tiene dos
o más de estos signos, acude de manera urgente con el
veterinario.
• Cleaning. Give him a bath once a month, so you will
keep him clean. Dry him well, especially his ears.
Brush him two or three times a week.
• Hydration. Do not forget to have fresh water in a
clean container so that you have it whenever you require

ASOCIACIÓN ALE, I.A.P. se fundó
en noviembre de 2004 por las familias Alverde Castro y
Castro Careaga, tras la muerte del pequeño Ale, hijo de
Luis Eduardo Alverde y Adriana Castro, dentro del dolor
ante la pérdida decidieron donar sus órganos como un
acto de amor que brindó una nueva oportunidad de vida
a seis personas, esta situación aunada a la realidad sobre
la donación de órganos en México ha marcado los 18 años
de trabajo de la asociación.
OBJETIVOS:
• Brindar asistencia social con medicina de trasplante a
personas en situación de vulnerabilidad económica.
• Promover y fomentar en México el derecho a la salud,
acceso a servicios de calidad y tratamientos integrales
para todos los pacientes.
• Apoyar y coadyuvar en la creación de infraestructura
material y humana para la atención adecuada.
• Promover una amplia cultura de la donación de órganos
y tejidos.
• Incidir en las Políticas Públicas en materia de salud en
beneficio de los pacientes.
ALCANCES:
• 1, 395 trasplantes, de los cuales 818 corresponden a
trasplantes de riñón.
• 14,714 cirugías gratuitas de cataratas.
• 1235 tratamientos de medicamento inmunosupresor.
• 37 mil 890 beneficiados a través de las Campañas de
Prevención Renal dirigidas a la población general.
• Desde 2013 el Programa de Hemodiálisis ha otorgado
53 becas para sesiones de hemodiálisis a pacientes
camino a su trasplante. El apoyo es durante 6 meses
aproximadamente y tiene el objetivo de encaminar al
paciente al trasplante, manteniéndolo estable hasta el
momento de la cirugía.

Sucede que el día menos esperado
amaneces con un granito en la cara y
en cuanto lo ves en el espejo decides
eliminarlo, la mayor parte de las veces,
oprimiendo con los dedos. Lo peor de
todo es que, tras exprimirlo, la piel termina
irritada y la imperfección solo aumentó
su tamaño. ¿Qué hacer cuando tienes
imperfecciones en la piel?

Para prevenir:
1. Limpiar. Lavar el rostro por la mañana y la noche, especialmente
si la piel es grasa. Para evitarlos los granos lo mejor
es lavar la cara después de cualquier actividad física además
de evitar tocar la piel. Para purificar el rostro es recomendable
utilizar un limpiador con vitamina E que es gentil con la piel al
tiempo que limpia y humecta.
2. Ambiente impecable. Es vital que los objetos que tocan
su rostro siempre estén impecables. Cambia la funda de tu
almohada por lo menos cada tercer día, asimismo no olvides
lavar tus brochas de maquillaje y reemplazar la toalla con la
que secas tu rostro todos los días.

3. Alimentación. Algunos alimentos ricos en hidratos de
carbono, como el pan, los bagels y las papitas, pueden
empeorar el acné, procura evitarlos y mantén una dieta
balanceada. No olvides mantenerte hidratada.
Para tratar:
1. Tratamientos localizados. Alternativas con ingredientes
naturales como el aceite de árbol de té ayudarán a
eliminar bacterias y la grasa que obstruyen los poros.
2. Mascarillas. Las mascarillas nocturnas de té son una
alternativa que le viene bien a casi todo tipo de piel, te recomendamos
meterla en el refrigerador para que el rostro
se refresque y desinflame.
3. Remover. Para retirar la grasa de los granitos sin lastimar
la piel, asegúrate de hacerlo con las herramientas
correctas como removedores especiales.
Para ocultar:
Lo que haces cuando tienes una imperfección es cubrirla
con maquillaje, pero esto solo obstruye los poros. Busca
algo que además de esconderlo también ayude a combatirlo,
como las bases de maquillaje antiacné.
Recuerda que ninguna piel es perfecta, siempre habrá
factores externos que no puedas controlar y que resulten
en una espinilla desagradable, pero no hay que entrar en
pánico y desesperación.
Finalmente, si ves que comienzan a brotar granos y espinillas,
es recomendable acudir con un dermatólogo
que te ayude incluso a detectar otro inconveniente, como
desequilibrios hormonales o alergias.
