CAN TRINXET

Project studio VI

education and culture center

prof. Martí Sanz

The industrial complex of Can Trinxet, in

Hospitalet de Llobregat should be transformed

into a public space for the neighbours.

The main ideas are the creation of

a central green space related to the future

planning that connects the two potential

green areas. The creation of a basement,

meeting the program’s requirements,

is the main intervention to the building.

The circular holes allows for the floors connection

and ventilation and the bioclimatic

space improves the climatic conditions

and connects the building with the park.

the materials used are concrete for the new structure and basement, but

wood and glass on the interiors and the “second facade”

the new windows keep the design of the old ones but they can be open for

regulating the temperature or ventilation.

DOMESTICATED BRIDGES

Urbanism VI

improving urban paths

prof. Robert de Paauw

Manresa, a small city near Barcelona,

is characterized by its limits: the river,

the train, the roads and the big slopes

of the mountain. The objective is improving

the connection between the city and

the sorroundings through little projects.

The first one, the reduction of the traffic

creation of a pedestrian street and green

spaces. The second one consists of the modification

of the current bridge, supressing

the car and changing the shape of it. The

intention is changing the concept of a bridge,

making it a stance place. The last one is

related to the train station. A new bridge that

connects the city with the nature and safer

than going across the road.

THE KINETICS OF A PATH

Project studio V

agrarian investigation center

prof. Martí Sanz

Limiting with the railway tracks, road infrastructure

and the Llobregat river, the project

gave us the liberty of choosing the location.

My personal objective was to make the less

environmental impact as possible. The

building was adapted to the linearity of the

vegetation and related to the experience

of getting inside the garden. The structure

is composed by a succession of porticos

covered by PVC, creating a hothouse space.

To improve the relation with the sorroundings,

some patios were designed. The program

is placed inside some balloon frame

boxes because of the acoustics and climate

control.

DIAGONAL

Urban planning V

project and urban regeneration

prof. Adrià Guardiet

in collaboration with Laia Pouget

Making the most of the existing main roads,

the design connects Bon Pastor and Besòs

neighbourhoods through a diagonal to

transform a crumbling industrial area into a

mixed use zone. It was materialized through

a succession of squares and equipments,

linked with the selective emptying of the disuse

and dilapidated constructions. In relation

with the public space, we pedestrianize

some streets, changing the pavement and

adding vegetation to create a green and

self-sustaining environment.

43% OCUPACIÓ

Even the unknown location, this exercise

tried to introduce us to the urban regeneration

in a four-week project. Preserving the

rhythm and structure of the pre-existence,

we design new buildings and centralities.

The squares are direct related with the lower

level uses and form, creating sinuous paths,

peatonal passages and interstitial spaces.

We also work with the roofs and the vegetation,

controlled in the circulation spaces but

wild inside the squares.

CO-LIVING

Project studio IV

housing and city

prof. Carles Enrich

in collaboration with Zora Schagen

Located in La Clota, the less dense neighbourhood

of Barcelona, the project requested

us to create a co-living and private housing.

Our design tries to keep the essence

of the place through the materials and the

presence of vegetation. Extending the existing

retaining walls, we created two enclosures

with the same features: a central agora,

semi-exterior spaces and patios. The

bedrooms are closed by a BTC box, while

the common space is opened to an outside

porch.

SPACES BETWEEN SPACES

Project studio III

housing and city

prof. Jordi Badia

in collaboration with Ángela Martínez

Placed between Carmel and La Clota, the

less dense neighbourhood of Barcelona,

the project requested the creation of 60

housing, coworking and store spaces, solving

a nine meter slope. Trying to preserve

the essence of the place, we create irregular

shapes suggesting familiarity with the

environment. The volumes layout allow the

creation of a public space opened to the

landscape. The housing is thought to leverage

the views and the sun lighting, designing

diagonal spaces and large apertures.

NEURAL LANDSCAPE

Project studio II

relation between landscape and edification

prof. Mamen Domingo

Located in the sorrounding area of the Pantà

de Vallvidrera, the main purpose of the

project was to study the natural, cultural

and visual relations between the construction

and the landscape in order to create

a natural pavilion. Following the concept

of a neuron, an unifying thread was conceived

which connected the ensemble.

The sinuosity of the circumference allowed

to design a path to behold the nature from

different perspectives, angles and heights.

FORMS OF URBAN GROWTH

Urban planning II

analizing urban infrastructure

prof. Marina Cervera

With the objective of understanding the different

forms of urban growth, the course

was focused on Barcelona and Paris. Working

with 1:10.000 and 1:25.000 scales,

we had to analyze the structure of the cities:

the historic center and how it extended,

the ancient walls, the main roads,

the suburban routes, the parks, the topography,

the road infrastructure, the different

neighbourhods and constructions...

MEDIALAB

Project studio I

creating a center of plastic and visual arts

prof. Eva Jiménez

Located in a land between two dividing

walls, the assignment was to design a MediaLab

center solving a two-three meter slope

between the streets. The idea of the project

proceeded from the facade meaning to

create a different atmosphere on each floor.

The ground floor was thought to be completely

public, the first floor an exhibition space,

the second one a semi-exterior area with

work bubbles, the third one a dark audiovisual

space and the deck a public terrace.
