Is a Research Associate at the Centre for Research<br />

on Latin America and the Caribbean<br />

(CERLAC) at York University, Toronto (Canada).<br />

He is a cultural historian of modern<br />

Mexico who focuses on the topics of gender,<br />

urban sexuality, transnational history and<br />

the history of capitalism. In 2019 he earned<br />

his Ph.D. in Latin American History at York<br />

University writing a dissertation titled, “Meet<br />

me at Sanborns: Labor, Leisure, Gender and<br />

Sexuality in Twentieth-Century Mexico”. He<br />

is the recipient of the 2019 Canadian Association<br />

for Latin American and Caribbean<br />

Studies (CALACS) Outstanding Dissertation<br />

Prize. His book project examines the complicated<br />

relationship between U.S. capitalism,<br />

Mexican gender identities and consumer culture<br />

in Mexico through the lens of Sanborns.<br />
