¿Esclavo o amo de su tiempo? El tiempo es algo a lo que te sometes, me refiero al tiempo matemático. En cambio, el tiempo relativo es algo interesante porque se puede dominar. Tal vez yo suene un poco racional, pero creo que es posible manejar tu vida sin ser esclavo del tiempo. ¿La lección más valiosa que ha aprendido del tiempo? Hay que usarlo tanto como se pueda. Trabajar duro, jugar duro. ¿Complicación favorita? ¡Ninguna en absoluto! En Ressence vemos la relojería de forma diferente. Pensamos en soluciones, no en complicaciones. Puede que suene como un discurso comercial, pero es así. Cada reloj Ressence está diseñado desde la perspectiva del usuario. El reloj mecánico ha sido degradado a accesorio decorativo. Ha caído en la obsolescencia. Desafortunadamente ha perdido su razón de ser original. Ahora es casi kitsch llevar uno. Cualquier producto, incluso un reloj, sólo es relevante cuando es funcional. Mientras más funcional, más relevante. Cuando ponemos aceite en nuestros relojes, no es para hacer algo diferente. Es por funcionalidad. El reloj se vuelve 50% más legible (más contraste y lectura 2D) y funciona mucho mejor (necesita 4 veces menos energía). Nuestro Type 5 es el único reloj mecánico de buceo perfectamente legible bajo el agua, y eso no es poca cosa para un submarinista. ¿Por qué la obsesión humana de controlar y medir el tiempo? Porque no podemos dominarlo. Somos como vacas observando los trenes que pasan, limitándonos a contarlos. En la Tierra, el tiempo es la única dimensión intangible que no podemos someter a nuestros deseos. Creo que la obsesión es consecuencia de la carrera de supervivencia en la que vivimos. Mientras más corres, más te obsesionas. Se puede identificar a estos “corredores” a través del tipo de reloj que usan. Pero en realidad no controlan el tiempo. Se controlan a sí mismos asegurándose de encajar en las franjas horarias. A la gente libre le importa menos el tiempo. No soy historiador, pero creo que hay un antes y un después de la revolución industrial en relación con el tiempo. Si pudiera viajar en el tiempo, ¿adónde iría? Maybe this sounds a bit irrational but I think it’s possible to go through life without being captive to time. What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned about time? It has to be used as much as it’s possible. Work hard, play hard. What’s your favorite complication? None at all At Ressence we see watchmaking a bit differently. We come up with solutions, not problems. It may seem like a marketing scheme but it’s as simple. Every Ressence watch has been designed from the users’ perspective. The mechanical watch has been downgraded to a decoration accessorie. It has fallen into obsolescence because unfortunately they have lost their original reason of existence. Nowadays it’s almost Kitsch to wear one. Any product, even a watch, is only relevant if it’s functional. The more functional it is, the more relevant it becomes. When we apply oil to our watches, it’s not about setting us aside from the competition, its about eciency. The watch becomes 50% more readable (better contrast and 2D lecture) as well as more functional (needing 4 times less energy). Our Type 5 is the only diver’s mechanical watch perfectly readable underwater, and that is not a small fee for divers. Why the human obsession to control and measure time? Because we have no real dominion over it. We’re like cows watching trains go by, only being able to count them. On Earth, time is the only non-physical dimension we can’t bend to our will. think this fixation is a consequence of the mice race we’re living in. The more you run, the more you are obsessed with it. You can recognize these “runners” by the watch they wear. But they’re not really controlling time. Theyre only controlling themselves, making sure they fit within the time zones. Free folk cares less about time. I’m not historian but I believe our relationship with time had a turning point after the industrial revolution. If you could travel through time, where would you go? I’m happy with the current present. The past is not better; the future is not “greener” (As “the grass is not greener”). Every moment in time has its challenges and our own feels like a critical one. We’re playing an active role in the digital revolution. As a brand, we aim to fit and take advantage of every possibility this instant offers us. The Type 2 is a good example of our steam engine.
