HUMO
About the play:
HUMO is a tribute to died Humbert Monroy
(HUMO) and his band Genesis of Colombia.
HUMO is the tragic history of a Colombian
rock band born in sixties and died
in eighties; it breaks through an age when
“Security Stat” was set in Colombia, between
1978 and 1982. It is a musical drama which
crosses entire decades of violence, broken
dreams, frustrations, illusions, impunity and
intolerance into the social political environment
of Colombia. It is also a tribute to a
tragic generation seen through the history
of a Colombian folk rock band, in a space
where are built songs, dreams, utopias and
frustrations around an intolerant country
further political and ideological context.
HUMO was born thanks to Theater Creation
Award in 2014 given by Culture Ministry
in the category: Room Theater. The
staging was realized through the Collective
Creation System. Our show is based in
texts about Colombian Rock contemporary
history, regard to records and literature, they
contain historical, outstanding facts about
Colombian Rock pioneer bands influenced
by Greek and Modern dramas, even though
all above has been adapted and placed
according our perspective about recent
history.
