Program of the XII. World UMAU Congress

Topic of the Congress:
The main idea of the international congress UMAU is to strengthen the cooperation between the
teachers and experts from the area of agrarian law, to support the teaching process of the course
Agrarian Law at the universities in all around the world and to perform an analysis of the legal
systems dealing with the area of agrarian law in the world. In order to achieve the stated objectives,
the association UMAU organizes the international congresses in two years terms, where the experts
from the area present their knowledge and the results of their researches.
In the year 2012 the congress is for the very first time organized in a Central European country– in
Slovakia at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
SUA in Nitra is the only subject representing Slovakia in this association as it is the only university in
Slovakia which offers teaching of the course Agrarian Law for all the students. Agrarian law is in the
countries of Latin America well developed scientific field with a long tradition. The basis of the
agrarian law is coming from the land law and it is complemented also by other legal relationships in
the area of agriculture and forestry. Under the Slovak conditions the legal acts dealing with this area
are rather scattered and they are not included in one legal sector.
