Se pueden agrupar varios cepillos juntos para pulir anchos diferentes. La velocidad de corte más adecuada está entre 10 y 20 m/s, debiendo trabajar con poca presión. La adición de agua o aceites poco espesos aumenta el rendimiento. En casi todos los metales, el agua produce superficies mate y sobre aluminio superficies muy mates.
