At this time, a high proportion of patients have obvious or occult meatastases. Acquisition of the invasive andangiogenic phenotypes occur very early, in some cancers perhaps more than 5 to 10 years prior to presentation. Thisdemonstrates a window of opportunity to intervene with anti-invasive and antimetastasis therapies.
