USEFUL InFORMATIOn FOR DOCUMEnTSCenSuS -TAKinGEveryone living in spain has a right to be registered on the census(be they spanish nationals or foreigners), which provides accessto other important rights:— Basic education for children.— Processing of aid and allocation of public financial provisions.— Access to social care services.Registration on the Census takes place at the Oficina d’Atencióal Ciutadà (OAC) at Barcelona City Council on presentation ofthe following necessary documentation:— identification document: National identity Document, passport,driving licence, etc., or, in the case of foreigners, residence permit,passport or identity card from the country of origin.— Document accrediting the address: title deed to the property,rent contract, or any last utility bill (water, gas, electricity, etc.)that gives the name and address of the person applying for registrationon the electoral roll. these documents must be theoriginals, not photocopies.— if the applicant is not the owner or holder of the lease (rent) contractof the property and wants it to be registered as their address,they will need authorisation signed by the owner of theproperty and a photocopy of their National identity Document,passport or personal identification document.89
