7.6 Dust extractionCAUTIONDust may be harmful or cause allergicreactions!• Always connect the machine to a dustextractor.• When performing work that generatesdust, always wear a dust mask.Extraction hoods are supplied for both routertables; a Festool extractor (extractor hosewith a diameter of 27 mm) can be connectedto these extraction hoods. The dust extractor (extractor hose with dia.27 mm) can also be attached to the largesurface router table or the side stop dependingon the application.8 Working with the machineWARNINGRisk of injury• Hold the machine with both hands.• Always secure the workpiece in such amanner that it cannot move while beingrouted.Guide the machine along the workpiece ata steady rate of advance.8.1 Machine guidance methodsa) Routing with side stopThe side stop is positioned parallel to theworkpiece edge. The side stop can only be fitted to the largesurface router table without a fitted extractionhood [4-2].• Insert the fine adjuster [9-3] into the sidestop.• Secure both guide rods [9-5] with the tworotary knobs [9-2] on the side stop.• Insert the side stop into the grooves onthe router table to the required distanceand secure the guide rods by turning therotary knob [9-1].Rough adjustment• Loosen the screws [9-2] and [9-4] andslide the side stop.• Tighten the screws.Fine adjustment• Loosen the screws [9-2] and turn the15green wheel on the fine adjuster [9-3].The distance between each line on therotary wheel is 0.1 mm - one full turn ofthe ring represents 1 mm.• Tighten the screws [9-2].b) Edge trimming with bearing guide[Fig. 10]Use routing tools with a bearing guide inthe machine when edge trimming with thelarge surface router table. The machine isthen guided in such a way that the bearingguide rolls off the workpiece. When trimming edges, always use the undertableextractor adapter [10-1] for improveddust extraction.c) Edge trimming with sensor and routertable for edge veneer [Fig. 11]When edge trimming with the router tablefor edge veneer (only in SET scope of delivery),fit the sensor [11-1] to the machine(see Chapter 7.2 b). The machine is thenguided in such a way that the sensor restsagainst the workpiece.8.2 Aluminium processingWARNINGRisk of accident - always perform thefollowing safety measures when routingaluminium:• Add a residual-current circuit-breaker(FI, PRCD).• Connect the machine to a suitable dustextractor.• Remove dust deposits from the motorhousing on a regular basis.• Wear protective goggles.9 Service and maintenanceWARNINGRisk of accident, electric shock• Always pull the plug out of the socketbefore performing any type of work onthe machine.• All maintenance and repair work whichrequires the motor housing to be openedmust only be carried out by an authorisedservice workshop.• Check the plug and the cable regularlyand should either become damaged, have them replaced by an authorisedafter-sales service workshop.
