MResumen En este trabajo analizamos un LED (del inglés Light Emitting Diode) que es un dispositivo que tiene un amplio uso en <strong>la</strong>actualidad. Podemos localizarlos en cualquier tipo de aplicaciones; de encendido/apagado, semáforos y otros dispositivos deseñales de tránsito, en pantal<strong>la</strong>s de cristal liquido, como celu<strong>la</strong>res o calcu<strong>la</strong>doras, entre otros usos simi<strong>la</strong>res [1] . En específico,analizamos un LED (figura 1) que emite en el azul de InGaN/GaN dopado con Mg y depositado sobre sustrato de Si(111) [2]Desarrollo Mediante <strong>la</strong> Espectroscopía de Electrones Auger (l<strong>la</strong>mada AES Auger Electron Spectroscopy por su nombre en inglés)obtenemos información acerca de <strong>la</strong> composición de <strong>la</strong> muestra, <strong>la</strong> cual está estructurada por multicapas, algunas de estasdel orden de 20 nm, figura 2.(a)(b)Fig. 1 Esquema del dispositivoLED.Fig. 2 AES de (a) Superficie original, (b) Superficie (limpieza) después de una erosión de 5 minutos coniones Ar.El dispositivo LED analizado tiene un dopaje de 10 19 átomos deMg por cm 3 lo que representa una cantidad muy por debajo de <strong>la</strong>sensibilidad de AES, por lo que el Mg fue detectado mediante <strong>la</strong>Espectroscopía de Masas de Iones Secundarios (SIMS,Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy por su nombre en inglés),figura 5.Se llevó a cabo un perfil de composición (figura 3)empleando erosión iónica, con Iones de Argón, ymonitoreando <strong>la</strong>s señales de los elementos del dispositivo,Ga, N, In, y Al, este último se encuentra en una capa muydelgada y no se detectó durante <strong>la</strong> erosión iónica.Al finalizar <strong>la</strong> erosión iónica se obtuvieron espectros Augerde <strong>la</strong>s diferentes zonas del cráter formado, y se observóc<strong>la</strong>ramente <strong>la</strong>s diferentes capas del LED en donde seaprecia <strong>la</strong> presencia de Al. Se obtuvo una imagen de SEM(del inglés Scanning Electron Microscopy), en dondeobservamos <strong>la</strong> dimensión del cráter del orden de 120 μm yse aprecia el contraste de <strong>la</strong>s diferentes capas deldispositivo, figura 4 (a).
