Andueza.CINVESTAV UNIDAD MERIDA, Universidad Estatal <strong>de</strong> Louisiana.*arturozj@gmail.comEl puerto <strong>de</strong> Progreso presenta un escenario cárstico con clima semiárido, en ellase localiza un área <strong>de</strong>teriorada <strong>de</strong> manglar, caracterizada principalmente por sedimentosinorgánicos (“sascab”), <strong>de</strong>bido a que esta área se utilizó como sitio para disponer lossedimentos provenientes <strong>de</strong> los dragados <strong>de</strong>l puerto <strong>de</strong> Yucalpetén. Asimismo sepresenta obstrucción <strong>de</strong>l flujo natural <strong>de</strong> agua proveniente <strong>de</strong> la laguna <strong>de</strong>bido a laconstrucción <strong>de</strong> la carretera, ambas situaciones influyeron para interrumpir elhidroperíodo provocando el <strong>de</strong>terioro y muerte <strong>de</strong> la vegetación <strong>de</strong> manglar existente enla zona. Para ello se implementó un plan <strong>de</strong> rehabilitación <strong>de</strong> manglares, en don<strong>de</strong> lasprincipales acciones fueron: el <strong>de</strong>sazolve <strong>de</strong> los canales, apertura <strong>de</strong> canales y centros <strong>de</strong>dispersión. La regeneración natural <strong>de</strong> plántulas <strong>de</strong> Avicennia germinans se registró enel sitio <strong>de</strong> Referencia con 2.7 plántula/m-2, seguido <strong>de</strong>l sitio <strong>de</strong> la parcela 2 con 0.6plántula/m2 y por último la parcela 1 con 0.2 plántula/m2. En los otros sitios todavía nose establecen plántulas <strong>de</strong> manglar. El incremento <strong>de</strong> la altura <strong>de</strong> las plántulas fue a untasa <strong>de</strong> 0.13 cm/día para Avicennia germinans en la parcela 2, seguido <strong>de</strong> sitio laparcela 1 con 0.08 cm/día y por último el sitio <strong>de</strong> referencia 2 con 0.05 cm/día. Losvalores <strong>de</strong> crecimiento indican que las condiciones <strong>de</strong>l sitio <strong>de</strong> referencia favorecenmejor el establecimiento y <strong>de</strong>sarrollo <strong>de</strong> las plántulas <strong>de</strong> manglar.59

El proyecto piloto <strong>de</strong> restauración ecológica seubica en los manglares <strong>de</strong> Isla <strong>de</strong>l Carmen, Campeche; y está basado en cinco líneasestratégicas: a) diagnostico ambiental, b) <strong>de</strong>finición <strong>de</strong> acciones <strong>de</strong> restauración, c)organización para la ejecución <strong>de</strong> las acciones, d) Monitoreo <strong>de</strong> indicadores <strong>de</strong> éxito ye) Educación ambiental, capacitación y transferencia <strong>de</strong> experiencias. Hasta el momentose cuenta con un sitio piloto <strong>de</strong> restauración <strong>de</strong> manglares en el estero bahamitas <strong>de</strong>Laguna <strong>de</strong> Terminos, con la participación <strong>de</strong> 80 personas <strong>de</strong> la comunidad ejidal <strong>de</strong> IslaAguada. El programa piloto <strong>de</strong> restauración <strong>de</strong> manglares preten<strong>de</strong>r forjar unaexperiencia <strong>de</strong> restauración <strong>de</strong>s<strong>de</strong> su planeación, ejecución y evaluación <strong>de</strong>l éxito paraque posterior a ello pueda ser replicado en otros sitios <strong>de</strong>gradados <strong>de</strong>l Golfo <strong>de</strong> México.60
