También, trabaja como Científico Adjunto en el„International Institute of Tropical Forestry „del „USDA-Forest Service‟ en San Juan, Puerto Rico desde 2000 yes miembro del „International Scientific Advisory Board,Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology‟ de laUniversidad de Bremen, Alemania. Ha trabajado con lafisiología ecológica de plantas tropicales y su vastaproducción de artículos y capítulos de libro ha sidofuente de inspiración para un sinnúmero de ecofisiólogoslatinoamericanos.
