A pesar de verse amenazados por el desarrollo turístico de“Costa Maya” y por la incidencia de huracanes, la falta de estudios acerca del manglaren la zona Mahahual-Xcalak provoca que no haya información acerca de suscaracterísticas y productividad. Objetivo. Estimar en un ciclo anual, la productividadprimaria del manglar en las localidades de Mahahual e Xcalak, por medio de laproducción de hojarasca, para contar con información de base en la propuesta derecomendaciones de manejo de este ecosistema. Metodología. Mahahual e Xcalak seencuentran en la costa sur del estado de Quintana Roo. En las localidades se tienencinco sitios de monitoreo: 1. En cada uno se estableció una parcela permanente de 5 x 5m. con su respectiva réplica (0.0025 Ha), 2. Se Instaló de manera aleatoria 5 canastas de0.25 m 2 , por parcela, 3. Se Colectó la hojarasca caída durante seis meses, 4.Adicionalmente, se midió la salinidad, la temperatura e inundación, 5. Se secó y pesó elmaterial colectado. Resultados y conclusiones preliminares: Se tiene registró de 6 de 12meses de muestreo, los cuales serán la base para realizar propuestas de manejo en lazona de manglar del área de estudio.ECOLOGÍA DE LAS ORQUÍDEAS EPÍFITAS Brassavola nodosa Y Encycliaalata EN EL MANGLAR DE SONTECOMAPAN, VERACRUZ, MÉXICOSaúl Hernández Carmona*, Yazmin Reyes Domínguez y Gustavo Carmona DíazInstituto de Neuroetología*saulhc80@yahoo.comEl epifitismo vascular es una característica poco común en ecosistemas demanglar, existiendo pocos datos sobre epifitismo dentro de estos ecosistemas. Se evaluóla abundancia y la distribución de B. nodosa y E. alata por especie de mangle y en losestratos “A1” (raíces), “A” (fuste), “B” (ramas) y “C” (ramillas) y se determinó si laaltura, el DAP y la cobertura de los hospederos, influyen en el establecimiento de estasepífitas. El estudio se realizó en el manglar de Sontecomapan, sitio Ramsar 1342,Catemaco, Veracruz. Se muestrearon tres sitios con transectos de 10 X 50 m. Seregistraron 130 árboles de mangle y 47 presentaron orquídeas. No hubo diferencia161
significativa entre el número de individuos de B. nodosa (χ² = 4.154, gl = 2, P =0.12) y E. alata (χ² = 0.477, gl = 2, P = 0.78) por hospedero. El estrato “B”(ramas) registró la mayor abundancia de las epifitas, lo cual fue significativo para B.nodosa (χ² = 12.633, gl = 6, P = 0.04), pero no para E. alata (χ² = 8.042, gl= 4, P = 0.09). No hubo relación entre la abundancia de B. nodosa y E. alata, con laestructura de los hospederos.162
