La vegetación estudiada en lostransectos se encuentra en un suelo bajo condiciones anaeróbicas y cambia muchocuando el nivel <strong>de</strong> inundación aumenta o disminuye marcadamente. Departamento <strong>de</strong> CienciasForestales*jasuarezgom@unal.edu.coSe presenta la estructura, composición y estado <strong>de</strong> conservación <strong>de</strong> losmanglares <strong>de</strong>l Golfo <strong>de</strong> Urabá-Colombia. Se elaboraron mapas a partir <strong>de</strong>l análisis <strong>de</strong>fotografías aéreas <strong>de</strong>l 2009, a escala 1:10.000 y <strong>de</strong> muestreos <strong>de</strong> campo, en 6localida<strong>de</strong>s <strong>de</strong>l Golfo. Se i<strong>de</strong>ntificaron ocho tipos <strong>de</strong> coberturas, <strong>de</strong> las cuales 4 sonmanglares. Se encontraron: manglares <strong>de</strong> bor<strong>de</strong>, sobre la línea <strong>de</strong> costa, con alto nivel<strong>de</strong> inundación permanente y baja salinidad. De cuenca, con inundación no permanente ysalinidad más alta. Ribereño, con altas inundaciones <strong>de</strong> origen fluvial y manglar enregeneración con altos niveles <strong>de</strong> inundación y sin un patrón <strong>de</strong>finido <strong>de</strong> salinidad. Lascoberturas restantes carecen <strong>de</strong> influencia marina, son: bosques aluviales, dominadospor Raphia taedigera y Euterpe oleraceae, arracachales dominados por Montrichardiaarborescens, ranconchales dominados por Acrostichum aureum, y pastizales. Losmanglares <strong>de</strong> bor<strong>de</strong>, ribereño y el bosque aluvial presentaron, distribuciones diamétricasen forma <strong>de</strong> “J” invertida, mientras los manglares <strong>de</strong> cuenca y en regeneración, forma<strong>de</strong> campana indicando mayor intervención. La expansión <strong>de</strong> las fronteras agropecuaria yurbana, así como la infección <strong>de</strong>l Neoteredo reynei y agallas que afectan los árboles <strong>de</strong>lmanglar, ponen en peligro la supervivencia <strong>de</strong> los manglares <strong>de</strong>l Golfo.155

En parcelas <strong>de</strong> 500 m2, semidieron los diámetros a la altura <strong>de</strong>l pecho y alturas totales <strong>de</strong> todos los árboles conDAP superior a 2.5 cm, se i<strong>de</strong>ntificaron las especies y se midieron salinidad, pH <strong>de</strong>lagua <strong>de</strong> inundación y contenido <strong>de</strong> nutrientes en los suelos. La regeneración natural seanalizó en subparcelas <strong>de</strong> 1 m2 en las cuales se midió altura y diámetro a todos losindividuos con DAP inferior a 2.5 cm. En estas se realizaron remediciones antes y<strong>de</strong>spués <strong>de</strong> la temporada <strong>de</strong> lluvia. Se analizaron precipitación, caudales <strong>de</strong>l río,temperatura y el ambiente lumínico con fotografías hemisféricas. Se registraron trestipos <strong>de</strong> manglares: <strong>de</strong> bor<strong>de</strong> dominado por Rhizophora mangle, Cuenca dominado porAvicennia germinans y transición que presenta una mezcla <strong>de</strong> tres especies,Laguncularia racemosa, A.germinans y R. mangle. Las tasas <strong>de</strong> mortalidad yreclutamiento fueron <strong>de</strong> 46 % y 32,8 % en el primero, 46 % y 32,8 % en el segundo, y78% y 16,6% para el tercero, respectivamente. Atribuibles a cambios en la continuidad<strong>de</strong>l dosel y a la intervención antrópica.
