En laE2, se presentan 262,5 ind/ha <strong>de</strong> R. mangle con diámetro <strong>de</strong> 17,2 ± 6,4, altura <strong>de</strong> 19,8 ±6 m y área basal <strong>de</strong> 6,93 m2/ha y 100 ind/ha <strong>de</strong> L. racemosa con diámetro, área basal yaltura <strong>de</strong> 12,8 ± 9,9 cm, 2,01 m2/ha y 9,2 ± 6,2 m respectivamente. En la E3, el mayoraporte lo realiza C. erectus con 525 ind/ha, área basal 17,1 m2 /ha, altura 7,3 ± 1,9 m ydiámetros <strong>de</strong> 19,7 ± 8,7 cm. Con el propósito <strong>de</strong> caracterizar lavariación en este <strong>de</strong>l ecosistema <strong>de</strong> manglar, durante 2009, evaluamos la estructura,productividad y salinidad intersticial <strong>de</strong> dos sitios sujetos a diferente régimenhidrológico. Uno se ubica en la boca <strong>de</strong>l Río Hondo en un régimen dulceacuícolasalobrey el otro se ubica en la isla <strong>de</strong> Tamalcab en un régimen salobre-salino.Establecimos dos parcelas, <strong>de</strong> 100m², p/sitio; para evaluar la estructura se contaron ymidieron (DAP) todos los árboles <strong>de</strong>ntro <strong>de</strong> la parcela; para estimar productividad <strong>de</strong>hojarasca en cada parcela colocamos 5 canastas <strong>de</strong> 0.25m² y para la salinidad intersticialcolectamos 5 muestras a 30 cm <strong>de</strong> profundidad en cada parcela. Las colectas sonmensuales. En Río Hondo se registraron especies <strong>de</strong> R. mangle, L. racemosa, A.germinnans y C. erectus, a<strong>de</strong>más <strong>de</strong> especies arbóreas asociadas como Pachiraaquatica y Manilkara zapota. En Tamalcab, se registraron especies <strong>de</strong> R. mangle, L.racemosa, A. germinnans, siendo R. mangle la especie dominante en ambos sitios. Laproducción <strong>de</strong> hojarasca diaria y la salinidad promedio mensual en Río Hondo osciloentre 7.83gr y 2.12gr y 1 y 3.8 partes por mil respectivamente. En Tamalcab la salinidady la producción <strong>de</strong> hojarasca oscilo entre 15 y 40.2 partes por mil y 54.12grs y 2.57gr,respectivamente. Se infiere que el régimen hidrológico pue<strong>de</strong> estar influyendo en elnivel <strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong>sarrollo <strong>de</strong> cada sitio. Los resultados <strong>de</strong> este estudio servirán comoinformación básica para el diseño <strong>de</strong> programas <strong>de</strong> monitoreo a largo plazo.153

Se estimaron los cambios<strong>de</strong> cobertura en el período 1984 - 2006 utilizando fotografías aéreas y ortoimagenes. Seobtuvo la superficie <strong>de</strong> manglar y <strong>de</strong> diferentes categorías <strong>de</strong> uso <strong>de</strong> suelo, las cuálesindican que los manglares han disminuido, principalmente por las activida<strong>de</strong>sagropecuarias. La tasa anual <strong>de</strong> modificación fue <strong>de</strong> 2.9% superior a la media nacional,sin embargo, si se analiza por regiones esta tasa aumenta a 3.8%.
