9,000 lexical relations were obtained automatically. Moreover, it was possible toformalize some other lexical relations found in the combinatorial dictionaries of Spanish(Bosque, 2006; 2004). In fact, a total of 20,700 relations were formalized by means ofLFs. BADELE.3000 is a linguistic resource useful for natural language processingapplications and ontologies.The principle of domain inheritance can be applied thanks to the semantic labelsof nouns. The research carried out revealed the existence of two types of semanticlabels, hierarchical semantic labels, those that MTT has traditionally been dealing withand enable the principle of domain inheritance here applied, and reticular semanticlabels, which make it possible to explain several combinatorial phenomena and enablethe description of domain features. By means of the study of both types of labels, it hasbeen possible to develop a typology of nouns in Spanish following exclusively formalcriteria and based on semantic labels, domain features and their adscription to thedomain of LFs. Likewise, there is a proposal for the elaboration of reticularlexicographical entries, which reflect grammatical, semantic and domain features forLFs, the LF values and both types of semantic labels.The study of domain features and the implementation of the inheritance principleprove that the MTT approach (from the argument to the predicate) and Bosque’sapproach (2004) (from the predicate to the argument) are complementary. Lexicalselection is used with a different sense in each approach. For Meaning Text Theory, itssense is affected by the predominance of a communicative point of view. For Bosque,the grammatical point of view is the predominant one. Precisely the study of both theglosses and the values of the LFs here developed integrates both approaches: glossesand values select their bases, but at the same time, when the meaning is preserved, theyimpose semantic restrictions on their arguments.In view of the results obtained, the concept of compound lexical function isrevised, along with some links and overlaps of LFs. Moreover, the status of compoundlexical function is proposed for some of those LFs that are traditionally classified ascomplex. The existence of LFs (fulfilment verbs) is acknowledged not only for the deepsyntactic structure but for the semantic and conceptual structures. Consequently, arevision of the concept of lexical function is proposed.iv
