Main activities: The program includes, but is not limited to,
the following high-level activities:
• Reinforcing prevention activities across the country,
focusing mainly on the following risk groups:
intravenous drug users, homosexual men and women,
transsexuals, bisexuals, commercial sex workers, and
prison inmates
• Curbing the spread of mother-to-child transmission
• Executing prevention campaigns for the general
population, especially to target people living under
poverty and extreme poverty as well as children,
teenagers and young adults
• Extending the fight against opportunistic infections
• Facilitating access to male and female condoms
• Promoting the adoption of children orphaned due to
HIV/AIDS
• Supporting shelters and orphanages that house HIVpositive
children
• Facilitating access to testing for pregnant women
• Improving the quality of counseling services in
treatment centers
• Strengthening systems that promote adherence to
treatment
• Training health professionals, patients and their
families on topics related to antiretroviral therapy and
the treatment of opportunistic diseases
• Strengthening systems to monitor resistance to
antiretroviral therapy
• Improving the current structures to detect and treat the
double infection of HIV and tuberculosis.
• Upgrading logistical systems for the distribution of
health products
• Reinforcing epidemiological vigilance nationwide
• Creating a small emergency fund for the purchase of
antiretrovirals
Resultados anticipados: Los resultados previstos después
