Seattle: $100k/$300k underinsured motorist coverage is also required.
St. Paul: Primary insurance is required in all three periods.
Tulsa: Insurance may be excess to the driver’s own policy.
Virginia: From trip acceptance to drop-‐off, $100k/$300k of uninsured/underinsured
motorist insurance is also required.
Licensing Fees
Austin: It’s not a licensing fee per se, but $0.10 per ride must be set aside to be spent on
supporting the TNC’s riders that require ADA accommodation. A licensing fee will be added
by a later ordinance.
Baton Rouge: TNACs pay a one time registration fee of $250, an annual permit fee of $250,
and a per-‐vehicle registration fee of $75.
California: One third of one percent (1/300th) of gross revenues, paid quarterly.
Chattanooga: The initial registration fee for a TNC is $5,000. The annual fee for TNC
operation is $3,500.
Chicago A: Yearly TNP license fee of $10,000. $0.20 per vehicle per trip accepted (a credit
equal to the lesser of 50% and the proportion of rides originating or ending in designated
underserved areas may be applied). $0.10 per non-‐wheelchair accessible vehicle per ride.
Chicago B: Yearly TNP license fee of $25,000. $3.50 per active vehicle per day (a credit of
the lesser of 50% and the proportion of rides originating or ending in designated
underserved areas may be applied). $100 per active non-‐wheelchair accessible vehicle per
year.
Cincinnati: TNCs pay an annual licensing fee of $10,000.
Colorado: Annual fee of $111,250, paid by the TNC. This fee may be adjusted by the COPUC
(Colorado Public Utilities Commission) to cover its direct and indirect costs. Presumably
this means that if the number of TNCs increases (currently there are two) the licensing fee
charged by the COPUC would decrease and vice versa.
Columbus: Annual fee of $15,000 for TNCs and $35 for drivers.
Dallas: Operating authority permits are $1,000 per year. Driver permits are $65 every two
years. Vehicle permits are $50 a year. Reinstating a suspended permit of any sort costs $67.
DC: Private vehicle-‐for-‐hire companies pay a fee of 1% of gross receipts.
