Austin: “A Transportation Network Company (TNC) is defined as an organization whether <br />

a corporation, partnership, sole proprietor, or other form, that provides on-­‐demand <br />

transportation services for compensation u<strong>sin</strong>g an online-­‐enabled application (app) or <br />

platform to connect passengers with drivers.” <br />

Baton Rouge: “‘Transportation network application company’ shall mean a company <br />

operating in the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge that uses a digital <br />

network or software application to connect a passenger to transportation network services <br />

provided by a transportation network operator.” <br />

California: “a TNC is defined as an organization, whether a corporation, partnership, sole <br />

proprietor, or other form, operating in California that provides transportation services for <br />

compensation u<strong>sin</strong>g an online-­‐enabled app or platform to connect passengers with drivers <br />

u<strong>sin</strong>g their personal vehicles. The primary distinction between a TNC and other TCPs is that <br />

a TNC connects riders to drivers who drive their personal vehicle, not a vehicle such as a <br />

limou<strong>sin</strong>e purchased primarily for a commercial purpose. To that end, a TNC is not <br />

permitted to itself own vehicles used in its operation or own fleets of vehicles” <br />

‘“Transportation network service” or “service” means a prearranged transportation service <br />

offered or provided for compensation u<strong>sin</strong>g an Internet-­‐enabled application or digital <br />

platform to connect potential passengers with transportation network drivers. The term <br />

“transportation network service” does not include a “ridesharing arrangement” as that term <br />

is defined in section 2 of the Illinois Ridesharing Arrangements Act, codified at <br />

625 ILCS 30/2”’
