La marca Sal Marina de Canarias inscrita en
el registro nacional de patentes y marcas

El Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria
(ICCA), organismo autónomo dependiente de la
Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Alimentación
del Gobierno de Canarias, ha inscrito
la marca colectiva “Sal Marina de Canarias” en el
registro nacional de patentes y marcas, trámite que
representa el primer paso para avanzar hacia la solicitud
de la Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP)
de este producto.
El objetivo de esta acción es establecer las condiciones
de uso de esta marca con el fin de garantizar
el origen de la sal procedente de salinas marinas del
Archipiélago, así como su promoción en el mercado
nacional e internacional, evitando referencias geográficas
falsas.
El director del ICCA, Guillermo Díaz Guerra, indicó
que se cederá el uso de la marca registrada a la asociación
de productores de las salinas tradicionales
de las Islas “para que puedan identificar su producto
con esta denominación hasta que se obtenga la protección
administrativa europea”.
La obtención de la DOP permitiría que sólo la
producción isleña obtenida bajo los controles y
certificación requeridos pueda comercializarse aludiendo
al Archipiélago, evitando así la competencia
desleal. Esto supondría además que la marca pase a
tener reconocimiento comunitario y por tanto pueda
beneficiarse de la protección y acciones que tiene
prevista la normativa europea para alimentos de
calidad diferenciada.
La extracción de la sal es una actividad ancestral
vinculada a la historia de las Islas, que ha dado lugar
a unos de los parajes más bellos y singulares de
nuestro territorio, las salinas. Pese al abandono que
han experimentado en las últimas décadas, estos
espacios constituyen ecosistemas únicos que es preciso
conservar por su enorme valor natural y cultural.
En este sentido, la Denominación de Origen Protegida
Sal de Canarias, supondría un reconocimiento de la
calidad diferenciada de este producto y una garantía
de protección activa de las áreas donde se obtiene.
The Sal Marina de
Canarias brand is now
registered at the
national patents and
brands register
The Canarian Food Industry Institute, an autonomous
organisation that depends from the Agriculture,
Livestock, Fishing and Food Council of the Canarian

Government, has registered the “Sal Marina de
Canarias” brand at the national patents and brands
register which represents the first stage towards the
Guarantee of Origin application for this product.
The objective of this initiative is to establish the
conditions of use of this brand in order to guarantee
the origin of the salt that comes from the Archipelago,
as well as its promotion on the national and
international markets and avoiding mistakes in its
geographical references.
The director of the ICCA, Guillermo Díaz Guerra,
indicated that the use of the registered brand will be
granted to the association of producers of traditional
salt marshes of the Islands “so that they can identify
their product with this guarantee of origin until the protection
of the European administration is obtained”.
The Guarantee of Origin will ensure that only the
production from the islands that has been controlled
and certified can be commercialised as a product
from the Archipelago, and therefore will avoid disloyal
competition. This will also help the brand get recognition
on the European level and benefit from protection
and initiatives included in the European regulations
for food of differentiated quality.
Salt extraction is an ancestral activity which is closely
linked to the Islands’ history; it has created some
of the most beautiful landscapes of the Archipelago,
the “Salinas”. Despite the abandon experienced over
the past decades, those sites are unique ecosystems
which have to be preserved for their great natural
and cultural value.
Therefore the “Sal Marina de Canarias” Guarantee
of Origin would bring a different recognition of quality
for this product and an active guarantee of protection
of the locations where it can be obtained.

nationalen Patent-
und Markenregister
eingetragen
Das kanarische Institut für die Qualität von Agrarnahrungsmitteln
(ICCA), eine autonome Einrichtung,
die vom Amt für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht, Fischerei
und Ernährung der Regierung der Kanaren abhängig
ist, hat die gemeinsame Marke „Meeressalz der
Kanaren” im nationalen Patent- und Markenregister
eingetragen. Dies ist der erste Schritt, um eine
geschützte Ursprungsbezeichnung (DOP) für dieses
Produkt beantragen zu können.
Mit dieser Aktion wird beabsichtigt, die Voraussetzungen
für die Nutzung dieser Marke zu schaffen,
um den Ursprung des Salzes aus dem Archipel zu
garantieren und für dieses auf dem nationalen und
internationalen Markt zu werben. Dadurch sollen
falsche geographische Angaben vermieden werden.
Der Direktor des ICCA, Guillermo Díaz Guerra,
erklärte, dass die Nutzung der registrierten Marke an
den Verband der traditionellen Salzproduzenten der
Insel abgetreten wird, „damit diese ihr Produkt mit
dieser Herkunftsbezeichnung identifizieren können,
bis die letztere von der Europäischen Verwaltung
geschützt wird”.
Durch den Erhalt der geschützten Ursprungsbezeichnung
würde ermöglicht, dass nur die kontrollierte
Produktion der Inseln, die über die erforderlichen
Zertifikate verfügt, mit dem Namen des Archipels
vermarktet werden kann, so dass unlauterer
Wettbewerb vermieden wird. Dann würde die Marke
auf europäischer Ebene anerkannt und könnte von
dem Schutz und den Aktionen profitieren, die von der
europäischen Vorschrift für hochwertige Lebensmittel
vorgesehen sind.
Auf der Insel ist die Gewinnung von Salz eine uralte
Tätigkeit, die stark mit ihrer Geschichte verbunden
ist. Dadurch sind einige der schönsten und einzigartigsten
Gegenden unserer Heimat entstanden, die
Salinen. Obwohl diese in den letzten Jahrzehnten
aufgegeben wurden, gibt es dort einzigartige Ökosysteme,
die wegen ihrem großen natürlichen und kulturellen
Wert erhalten werden müssen.
In diesem Sinne würde die geschützte Ursprungsbezeichnung
Salz der Kanaren eine Anerkennung für die differenzierte
Qualität dieses Produktes und einen Schutz
der Zonen, wo es gewonnen wird, mit sich bringen.

Four new turtle nests on
Cofete’s Sandy Beach
Less than 20 hours after they were laid on the
beaches of El Batao (Cape Verde) in an area that
gets flooded by the tides, and therefore susceptible
of failing, around 700 Caretta caretta turtle eggs
were buried in four nests on the beach of Cofete
within the reintroduction project that is developed by
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo with the Environment Council,
the Canarian Government, the University of Las
Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the Superior
Centre of Scientific Investigations in collaboration
with the Government of Cape Verde.
The process was followed by neighbours and volunteers
together with the Cabildo’s vice-president,
Guillermo Concepción; the Environment General
Director, Francisco Martín; and Pájara’s Environment
Councillor, Farés Sosa. Before the arrival of the
eggs, three turtles were released by volunteers and
collaborators.
In less than 20 hours the eggs were moved from
the Island of Boa Vista in Cape Verde to the beach
of Cofete for the fifth yearly shipment of the Reintroduction
Project of this species.
The 700 eggs were buried at 40 centimetres depth
in various nests by the team of biologists of the ULPGC
who supervise the project and copying the process
that turtles follow naturally.
Natalia Évora explained that “Now all we have to do
is monitor every moment of the development of the
nests and hope for the climatic conditions to go in our
favour in order to achieve a good rate of hatching. It
is a very important project, the only one in the world
to be carried out on a natural beach and which has
generated a lot of scientific interest. This demonstrates
the quality of our beaches and ocean waters,
which have been selected as the most suitable ones
by specialists after checking out various locations”.
The gestation period of the turtle embryos can
reach up to 40 to 70 days depending on temperature
and humidity conditions. For this fifth experience, the
eggs were moved faster than previously, explained
the biologists in order to stop the cold affecting the
eggs’ development.
The latest references regarding the presence of
those animals nesting on the beaches of the Canaries
go back to 300 years ago, as some historical
documents make references to their existence on
the island until the 18th century. This reintroduction
project started 20 years ago, when a leatherback
turtle was spotted laying eggs on the beaches of Sotavento.
From that moment on, under the supervision
of professor Luis Felipe López Jurado (ULPGC) and
relying on the initiative of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo
and Pájara’s Ayuntamiento, work started towards
the reintroduction of the Caretta caretta turtle. The
Canarian Government via the Environment Council
and the Education, Science and Investigation Ministry
via the CSIC also participate in this project.
Over the past ten years work has been carried out
to monitor the quality of the beaches’ sand, water
quality, temperatures and reproduction patterns.
With the collaboration of the ULPGC, volunteers and
technicians have been trained in Cape Verde where
each year over 10.000 nests are laid. Thanks to
previous experiences, three years ago the first move
was carried out with eggs from two of those nests,
and the second move was done last year.
From the hatching of the turtle eggs the turtles
are taken to the Turtle Nursery in Morro Jable where
they stay for one year and where their development
is monitored in order to cover attacks from eventual
predators and are later released in the ocean. This
procedure will be repeated over various years, as it
is estimated that the turtles that were first born on
the sandy beaches of Cofete could come back to lay
their first eggs at about ten years old.

Nicht mal 20 Stunden nachdem sie an den Stränden
von El Batao (Kapverden), an einer überflutungsgefährdeten
Küste gelegt worden und daher
gefährdet waren, wurden ungefähr 700 Eier der
Schildkrötenart Caretta Caretta in vier Nestern am
Strand von Cofete eingegraben. Dies geschah im
Rahmen des Projektes für die Wiedereinführung der
Schildkrötenzucht auf Fuerteventura, das vom Amt für
Umwelt des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, der Regierung
der Kanaren, der ULPGC und dem Zentrum für wissenschaftliche
Untersuchungen in Zusammenarbeit
mit der Regierung der Kapverden durchgeführt wird.
Dieser Prozess wurde von Anwohnern und Freiwilligen
beobachtet. Es waren auch der erste Vizepräsident
des Cabildo, Guillermo Concepción, die Beauftragte
für Umwelt, Natalia Évora, der Generaldirektor
für die Natur, Francisco Martín; und die Beauftragte
für Umwelt von Pájara, Farés Sosa anwesend. Vor der
Ankunft der Eier wurden drei Schildkröten von den
Freiwilligen und deren Mitarbeitern des Projektes
freigelassen.
Die fünfte Ladung Eier des Projektes für die Wiedereinführung
dieser Art wurde in weniger als 20
Stunden von der Kapverdeninsel Boa Vista an den
Strand von Cofete befördert.
Die 700 Eier wurden von den Biologen der ULPGC,
die das Projekt beaufsichtigen, in mehreren 40 Zentimeter
tiefen Nestern eingegraben, wobei sie den
natürlichen Prozess imitierten, dem die Schildkröten
in der freien Natur folgen.
Natalia Évora erklärte: „Jetzt müssen wir nur noch
die Nester überwachen und hoffen, dass die klimatischen
Bedingungen günstig sind, damit dieses Mal
ein genauso hoher Prozentsatz schlüpft wie letztes
Mal. Es ist ein sehr wichtiges Projekt, das auf der
Welt einzigartig ist, da es an einem natürlichen
Strand durchgeführt wird, und es besteht ein großes
wissenschaftliches Interesse daran. Es beweist die
Qualität unserer Strände und unseres Wassers, die
von Fachleuten als idealer Ort ausgewählt worden
sind, nachdem diese schon viel gereist waren und
mögliche Standorte an anderen Orten untersucht
hatten”.
Die Gestationszeit der Schildkrötenembryos kann
40 bis 70 Tage dauern, da dies von der Temperatur
und dem Feuchtigkeitsniveau des Ortes, an dem sie
sich befinden, abhängig ist. Die Biologen des Projektes
erklärten, dass die Eier bei diesem fünften Mal
schneller befördert worden als je zuvor, damit deren
Entwicklung nicht von der Kälte beeinträchtigt wird.
Die letzten Zeugnisse, die von Schildkrötennestern
auf den Kanaren berichten, sind mehr als 300
Jahre alt, denn es gibt historische Dokumente, die
beweisen, dass es sie bis zum XVIII. Jahrhundert auf
der Insel gab. Obwohl das Projekt für ihre Wiedereinführung
erst vor einem Jahrzehnt begann, als Eier
der Lederschildkröte an den Stränden von Sotavento
entdeckt wurden. Seitdem wurde unter der Aufsicht
von Professor Luis Felipe López Jurado (ULPGC) mit
Hilfe des Cabildo von Fuerteventura und der Gemeinde
von Pájara begonnen, an der Wiedereinführung
der Art der Schildkröte Caretta Caretta zu arbeiten.
An diesem Projekt sind auch das Amt für Umwelt
der Regierung der Kanaren und das Ministerium für
Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung sowie das
CSIC beteiligt.
Während einer zehn-jährigen Arbeit wurden die
Qualität des Strandes, die Qualität der Gewässer, der
Temperaturen und die Formen der Reproduktion beobachtet.
Es wurden auch Freiwillige und Techniker in
Zusammenarbeit mit der ULPGC auf den Kapverden
ausgebildet, wo es jedes Jahr mehr als 10.000 Nester
gibt. Dank dieser vorherigen Arbeit wurden vor drei
Jahren zum ersten Mal die Eier aus zwei dieser Nester
befördert. Im vergangenen Jahr dagegen wurde die
zweite Ladung Eier befördert.
Wenn die Schildkröten ausschlüpfen, werden sie in
den Schildkrötenkindergarten von Morro Jable befördert,
wo eine „Nursery“ eingerichtet wird, in der diese
Schildkröten ein Jahr lang betreut werden, damit sie
nicht von Raubtieren gefressen werden. Dann werden
sie im Meer freigelassen. Dieses Verfahren muss über
mehrere Jahre wiederholt werden, weil man davon
ausgeht, dass die ersten Schildkröten, die im Sand
des Strandes von Cofete geschlüpft sind, ungefähr
zehn Jahre brauchen, bis sie zurückkehren und dort
ihre ersten Eier legen.

Entrega de carné profesional a 32 artesanos
de Fuerteventura

32 artesanos de Fuerteventura recibieron recientemente
sus carnés acreditativos, una vez superadas
las pruebas de cualificación que se han venido celebrando
desde el pasado mes de marzo, bajo la coordinación
de la Consejería de Artesanía del Cabildo de
Fuerteventura, que dirige Candelaria Umpiérrez. La
expedición del carné profesional viene regulada por
el Gobierno de Canarias “y es una garantía de calidad
y seriedad en el trabajo, además del derecho que
proporciona para poder acceder a comercializar sus
productos a través de las cuatro tiendas de artesanía
con que cuenta el Cabildo de Fuerteventura, sin que
ello signifique ningún tipo de coste añadido para el
productor. Cada producto llevará así una etiqueta de
garantía, con un número de registro de cada artesano
y un sello identificativo”, explicó la consejera.
La entrega de los carnés se desarrolló en el salón
de plenos del Cabildo, contando con la asistencia
del presidente del Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, y una
representación de la Comisión Técnica de Artesanía,
integrada por cuatro artesanos y en cuya representación
Santiago Martínez dio la bienvenida a los nuevos
compañeros y les animó a participar activamente
en la propia comisión. Así como en las asambleas
en las que periódicamente se debaten las medidas
a tomar en el sector de forma coordinada con las
administraciones.
Ventas en aumento
El presidente del Cabildo recordó que en 2009 el
volumen de ventas de la red de tiendas de artesanía
ascendió a 225.922 euros, que fueron a parar íntegramente
a los artesanos. “Pero lo más importante
es que estos 225.922 euros supusieron un notable
incremento frente a los 147.199 del año 2008. En
lo que llevamos de año el ritmo de ventas sigue creciendo
en torno a un 7%, y concretamente en el mes
de junio pasado el aumento fue del 11%. Hay que
recordar que hace apenas 3 años, la recaudación en
concepto de ventas oscilaba en torno a 70.000 euros.
Es decir, en apenas dos años se ha multiplicado por
tres”, apuntó Mario Cabrera.
La Consejería de Artesanía del Cabildo de Fuerteventura
ha renovado recientemente toda la cartelería
promocional, con información detallada en cinco idiomas.
También prevé poner en marcha próximamente
una web específica para exponer los productos de
artesanía de Fuerteventura, organizando de forma
paralela cursos de introducción a la informática
para los artesanos interesados, así como talleres
destinados a técnicas y consejos para mejorar la
comercialización y presentación de los productos,
adaptándolos a la demanda comercial.

32 Handcraft makers
from Fuerteventura
receive their
professional licence
32 handcraft makers from Fuerteventura recently
received their accrediting licences after passing the
qualification tests that had been going on since March
under the coordination of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s
Handcraft Council managed by Candelaria Umpiérrez.
The professional licence is regulated by the Canarian
Government “and it is a guarantee of quality and
reliability of the work, as well as the rights that it
grants in order to be able to commercialise products
through the Cabildo’s four handcraft shops free of
charge. Each product will show a guarantee sticker
with a registration number for each handcraft maker
and an identifying seal”, explained the Councillor.
The presentation of the licences took place in
the Cabildo’s Congress Centre where the Cabildo’s
President, Mario Cabrera was present as well as a
delegation from the Handcraft Technical Commission
consisting of four handcraft makers of which Santiago
Martínez welcomed their new colleagues and motivated
them to participate actively in this Commission.
For example in the meetings periodically organised
in order to debate on the measures to be adopted for
the coordination with the administrations.
Increase In sales
The Cabildo’s President reminded the audience
that in 2009 the sales’ volume of the handcraft shops
network represented 225.922 Euros which all went
to handcraft makers. “But most importantly those
225.922 Euros represent a significant increase when
compared with 147.199 Euros for 2008. Currently the
sales rhythm is increasing by 7% and more precisely in
June the increase reached 11%. We should remember
that about three years ago, the sales used to reach
around 70.000 Euros; therefore in less than two years
the figures have tripled”, added Mario Cabrera.
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Handcraft Council recently
renovated all their promotional advertising
boards with detailed information in five different
languages. It is also planned for a specific webpage
to be created in order to exhibit Fuerteventura’s handcraft
creations which will be organised in parallel
with introductory IT training for handcraft makers, as
well as workshops aimed at techniques and advice to
improve commercialisation and presentation of products
by adapting them to the commercial demand.

Übergabe des Kunsthandwerkerscheines
an 32 Kunsthandwerker
aus Fuerteventura
32 Kunsthandwerker aus Fuerteventura bekamen
kürzlich ihre Scheine, nachdem sie die Prüfungen
bestanden hatten, die seit März unter durchgeführt
worden sind und vom Amt für Kunsthandwerk des
Cabildo von Fuerteventura, das Candelaria Umpiérrez
leitet, koordiniert wurden. Die Ausstellung des
Scheines wird von der Regierung der Kanaren geregelt
„und ist eine Garantie für Qualität und seriöse
Arbeit, außerdem bekommen die Kunsthandwerker
dadurch das Recht, ihre Produkte in den vier Kunsthandwerksläden
des Cabildo von Fuerteventura zu
verkaufen, ohne dass für sie dadurch irgendwelche
Kosten entstehen. Jedes Produkt wird mit einem
Garantieschein, mit der Registernummer jedes
Kunsthandwerkers und einem Stempel ausgestattet”,
erklärt die Beauftragte für Kunsthandwerk.
Die Übergabe der Scheine fand im Plenarsaal des
Cabildo statt. Bei dieser Veranstaltung waren auch der
Präsident des Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, sowie eine aus
vier Kunsthandwerkern bestehende Vertretung der
technischen Kommission für Kunsthandwerk anwesend.
Ihr Vertreter Santiago Martínez begrüßte die
neuen Kollegen und ermutigte sie, selbst aktiv in der
Kommission mitzumachen und an den Versammlungen
teilzunehmen, in denen regelmäßig diskutiert
wird, welche Maßnahmen die Branche auf koordinierte
Weise mit den Verwaltungen ergreifen soll.
Zunahme der Verkäufe
Der Präsident des Cabildo hat daran erinnert, dass
im Jahr 2009 die Verkäufe des Netzes der Kunsthandwerksläden
225.922 Euro betrugen, die die
Kunsthandwerker ohne Abzüge bekamen: „Aber das
Wichtigste ist, dass diese 225.922 Euro eine bemerkenswerte
Steigerung im Vergleich zu den 147.199
des Jahres 2008 bedeuten. Seit Anfang des Jahres
steigt der Verkaufsrhythmus weiterhin um ungefähr
7%, und im letzten Juni stieg er sogar um 11%. Wir
müssen daran erinnern, dass diese Verkäufe vor
knapp 3 Jahren ungefähr 70.000 Euro betrugen.
Das heißt, dass sich der Umsatz in nur zwei Jahren
verdreifacht hat”, hob Mario Cabrera hervor.
Das Amt für Kunsthandwerk des Cabildo von Fuerteventura
hat vor kurzem das gesamte Werbematerial
mit detaillierten Informationen in fünf Sprachen
erneuert. Es ist auch vorgesehen, demnächst eine
Website ins Internet zu stellen, auf der Kunsthandwerksprodukte
aus Fuerteventura abgebildet werden.
Gleichzeitig werden Informatikkurse sowie Seminare
für Technik und Vermarktung organisiert, in denen
die Kunsthandwerker darüber beraten werden, wie
sie ihre Produkte besser verkaufen und präsentieren
können, indem sie diese an die Nachfrage anpassen.

“Tenemos en la actualidad 15 museos

Después de mucho tiempo tratando de entrevistar
a Candelaria Umpiérrez, por fin nos hemos podido
sentar con ella, para mantener una breve charla,
y comprender la apretada agenda con la que se
enfrenta a diario.
Nos habla de su vinculación con Asamblea Majorera
y de sus inquietudes políticas desde siempre,
pero es reciente sus acceso a cargos públicos, ya
que su actividad habitual era en la empresa privada
y siempre en el mundo del turismo, debido a su
formación de Técnico en Empresas y Actividades
Turísticas. Concretamente los últimos 11 años fueron
en la empresa Tui España.
¿desde cuándo se dedica activamente a la política?
Aproximadamente desde 1993, cuando me ofrecen
ir en lista para cargos públicos. Recibí una propuesta
del Consejo Político Municipal en un momento
en que yo mantenía aun mi antiguo trabajo que no
podía abandonar de golpe, y pedí un tiempo para ir
acercándome a la política y ver si sabia y podía desempeñar
esta nueva actividad. Como todo lo que se
quiere, se puede..., aquí estoy.
Primero estuve dos años trabajando en la Consejería
de Turismo del Gobierno de Canarias, en un cargo
de confianza del Director General y del Consejero del
momento Sr. Herrera. Fue mi primera experiencia en
la administración pública y a partir de 2004, que pedí
una excedencia en mi empresa, comencé a trabajar en
la Dirección General de Comercio y ahora en el Cabildo.
recordamos el desbordamiento que tubo al
llegar a esta consejería, porque era imposible
conseguir una cita con usted...
Sí, durante un tiempo, y debido a que un compañero
enfermó y no pudo incorporarse, asumimos su trabajo
y una parte importante vino a esta Consejería.
¿en la actualidad que abarca su consejería?
La Red de Centros y Museos, artesanía, comercio,
empleo, relaciones institucionales con otras administraciones,
cooperación internacional al desarrollo,
aunque este año 2010 no tenemos presupuesto en
este capítulo, debido a los recortes que hemos tenido
que realizar. Sólo estamos terminando algunos proyectos
que quedaban pendientes de años anteriores,
como la finalización de un colegio en Perú.
su dilatada experiencia en el área del turismo, le
habrá servido para potenciar la red de museos
y comprender la importancia de los mismos. ¿no
es así?
Los museos tienen una gran importancia turísti-
ca, son una alternativa de ocio muy cultural, y en
estos momentos el crecimiento de sus visitantes es
espectacular. Tenemos en la actualidad 15 museos
abiertos al público de martes a sábado, de los cuales
seis ya están también los domingos abiertos. Son
los más importantes y demandados por nuestros
visitantes. Nos gustaría poder con el tiempo tenerlos
todos abiertos durante toda la semana, pero por el
momento no hay presupuesto.
Estamos desarrollando un proyecto en colaboración
con el Servicio Canario de Empleo, por el cual
estamos sacando personal del paro y dándoles una
formación que les abra el abanico de posibilidades
laborales, como guías informadores turísticos y personal
para la Red de Museos.
También queremos formar salineros, para mantener
esta profesión que tiende a desaparecer y
amasadores de pan tradicional en horno de leña.
Además de no perder estas tradiciones, son demostraciones
que se realizan en nuestros museos y que
son muy visitados incluso por los colegios. Es bueno
que nuestros niños vean como se realizaban tradicionalmente
estos trabajos, tales como la extracción
de la harina y del gofio.
Es una labor que yo comencé y de la que estoy muy
satisfecha, los colegios nos están visitando mucho
este año. A estas fechas la cifra ya es superior que
el pasado año completo.
¿los residentes en la isla tienen una tarifa más
económica en los museos?
Algunos de nuestros centros tienen la entrada
gratuita, y en los centros de pago hasta los doce
años la entrada es gratuita y a partir de esa edad
los residentes pagan un 50 % solamente. Dado que
la entrada más cara son cinco euros, realmente es
muy poco el gasto de visitar nuestra Red de Museos.
Háblenos de novedades...
Una vez restaurado el edificio, estamos dotándonos
del material que irá en el faro de La Entallada, ya que
se va a convertir en un museo dedicado a la vida del
farero y el trabajo del faro.
el sitio es precioso, pero el camino es muy estrecho
y difícil...
Sí tenemos que hacer algunos tramos de descanso,
para poder circular con más seguridad en la carretera
que lleva al faro.
También estamos impulsando el potencial turístico
que tiene Betancuria, a través de sus museos y del
Mirador de Morro Velosa que permanecerán abiertos
los domingos. Hemos hablado con el alcalde y demás
empresarios de la zona, para darles la opción de
poder adherirse a esta iniciativa y abrir también sus
diferentes negocios.
Por otro lado, ligadas a los centros de la Red de
Museos, están nuestras tiendas de artesanía, lugares
donde nuestros artesanos exponen y venden sus
creaciones. Con estos puntos de venta el Cabildo les
facilita a los artesanos, de forma gratuita, el acceso
a los compradores.
Este año vamos a impartir un curso de informática
básica para nuestros artesanos, que ha sido acogido
con mucho interés, en los casos de personas muy mayores,
han apuntado a algún miembro de su familia
que les ayuda en su labor.
Queremos dar cursos a los artesanos que trabajan
la palma y a todos los relacionados con los tejidos y
calados, para potenciar nuevas ideas en diseño que
permitan, si lo desean, un uso actualizado o novedoso
en sus creaciones, sin olvidar nunca los trabajos
tradicionales que nos caracterizan.
También estamos trabajando en una nueva página
web de artesanía y Red de Museos.
Hemos tocado casi todos los capítulos que abarca
la conserjería, a falta del sector del comercio
¿sobre este tema qué nos puede contar?
Estamos haciendo convenios para dinamizar ciertas
zonas comerciales. Junto con la Dirección General
de Comercio del Gobierno de Canarias vamos a
cubrir los gastos la 50 %, y así en colaboración con
los Ayuntamientos vamos revitalizando y poniendo
más atractivas y accesibles algunas zonas abiertas
comercios. Se han realizado ya algunos proyectos en
Gran Tarajal y también en la actualidad en Puerto del
Rosario en diferentes zonas, aunque en siguientes
fases se irán ampliando.
Sabemos que tanto los vecinos como los comerciantes
estén pasando malos momentos por las
distintas obras, pero esperamos que en breve esta
situación termine y se vean recompensados.
Ya desde el año pasado estoy empleando una parte
de estos presupuestos, en colaboración con las asociaciones
de comercio y los distintos ayuntamientos.
Hemos realizado actividades que dinamicen estas
zonas comerciales, tales como degustaciones de productos
típicos, decoración especial de escaparates,
actividades musicales, etc.

After a long wait trying to meet with Candelaria
Umpiérrez, we finally managed to take a sit with her
for a short chat and understand the busy schedule
she has to face daily.
She tells us about her connections with Asamblea
Majorera and the political concerns she has always
had, about her more recent public responsibilities,
given that her normal activities used to be linked
with private businesses and always in the tourism
industry since she trained as Technician in Tourism
Businesses and Activities. Indeed she worked for 11
years with Tui Spain.
How long have you actively been dedicating yourself
to politics?
Approximately since 1993, when I was offered to
go on their lists for public responsibilities. I received
a proposal from the Municipal Political Council while I
was still working and as I couldn’t leave from one day
to the next, I requested some time to take a look at
politics and check if I knew and could fulfil this new
activity. Like everything else, when there is a will,
there is a way… and here I am.
First I worked for two years at the Tourism Council
of the Canarian Government, in a high ranking position
with the Managing Director and the Councillor
who was Mr. Herrera at the time. This was my first
experience with the public administration and from
2004, when I asked for an extended leave of absence
at work, I started working at the Head Management
of Commerce and now at the Cabildo.
we remember how busy you were when you first
started working at this council as it was impossible
to get an appointment with you...
Yes, it was like this for a while, and because one
of my colleagues was ill and could not come in, we
had to take care of his responsibilities and a lot was
taken care of by this council.
what does your council currently take care of?
The Centres and Museums’ Network, handcraft
activities, commerce, employment, institutional relationships
with other administrations, international
cooperation for development, although in 2010 this
chapter wasn’t budgeted for because of the latest
budget restrictions. We are only finishing existing
pending projects of previous years such as the completion
of a school in Peru.
Your wide experience in tourism must have been
useful to improve the museums network and
understand its importance, is that right?
Museums are very important for tourism, they are a
cultural activity alternative, and currently the increase
in visitors’ numbers is impressive. We currently have
15 museums open to the public Tuesday to Saturday
of which six are also open on Sundays. Those are
very important and demanded by our visitors. In due
course we would like to have them open all week long,
but this has not been budgeted for yet.
We are developing a collaboration project with the
Canarian Employment Service in order to employ
unemployed people and train them so that they can
have a wide choice of working possibilities as information
tourist guides and Museum Network employees.
We also want to train salt marshes staff in order
to preserve this activity which is disappearing and
also traditional wood ovens bakers. In additional to
preserving those traditions, exhibitions are carried
out in our museums which get a lot of visits including
from our schools. It is good for our children to see how
those activities were carried out traditionally such as
the elaboration of flour and gofio.
This is a task that I started and of which I feel very
satisfied, schools have been visiting museums a lot
this year. To this date, this year’s figures are already
higher than last year’s overall figures.
do fuerteventura residents have preferential
rates in museums?
Entry is free in some of our centres, and in the
other centres children go free until twelve years old
and residents get 50% discount. The most expensive
entry ticket is 5 Euros; it is therefore very cheap to
visit our Museums network.

Once the building has been restored, we will get
the equipment for La Entallada lighthouse as it will
become the dedicated museum for life and work in
lighthouses.
this site is beautiful but the path is very narrow
and difficult.
Yes, we have to carry out some work so that
people can travel safely on the road that leads to
the lighthouse.
We are also promoting the touristic potential of
Betancuria, through its museums and the Mirrador
de Morro Velosa that will all be open on Sundays. We
spoke with the mayor and businesses from the area
in order to give them the option of participating in this
initiative and open their own businesses.
On the other hand, our Museums Network is linked
with our handcraft shops where our handcraft makers
exhibit and sell their creations. With those shops,
the Cabildo is providing handcraft makers with free
access to customers.
This year we are organising basic IT training for
our handcraft makers which has generated a lot of
interest, for elders, a member of their family has been
appointed to help them.
We wish to provide training to handcraft makers
who work with palm tree leaves and activities related
to fabric and embroidery, in order to promote new
design ideas and if they wish to use some in their

own creations without forgetting the traditional work
that characterises them.
We are also creating a new webpage for handcraft
and the Museums Network.
we have talked about the council’s matters, how
about commerce? what can you tell us about this
subject?
We are getting into agreements to promote some
commercial areas. Together with the Canarian
Government’s General Management of Commerce we
will cover 50% of the costs and with the collaboration
from the Ayuntamientos we will promote some open
commercial areas and make them more attractive
and accessible. Some projects have already been
carried out in Gran Tarajal and are currently underway
in various areas of Puerto del Rosario although more
phases will follow.
We know that both neighbours and businesses
are experiencing inconvenience because of the work
going on but we hope that this situation will shortly
end and all will be rewarded.
Since last year I have been using part of those
budgets with the collaboration of the commerce
associations and various Ayuntamientos. We have
created activities that are promoting commercial
areas such as local product tastings, special shopwindow
decorations, musical activities, etc.

Wir haben seit langem versucht, Candelaria
Umpiérrez zu interviewen, und schließlich konnten
wir ein kurzes Gespräch mit ihr führen. Wir haben
gesehen, dass sie tagtäglich einen voll gepressten
Terminkalender hat.
Sie hat uns etwas über ihre Verbindung zu Asamblea
Majorera und darüber, dass sie sich immer mit
Politik beschäftigt hat. Aber erst seit kurzem hat sie
ein öffentliches Amt. Vorher arbeitete sie in einem
privaten Unternehmen. Sie ist immer im Bereich des
Tourismus tätig gewesen, denn sie ist als Tourismustechnikerin
ausbildet. In den letzten 11 Jahren war
sie bei Tui España.
seit wann widmen sie sich der Politik?
Ungefähr seit 1993, als mir ein Platz auf der
Wahlliste angeboten wurde. Als ich ein Angebot vom
politischen Rat bekam, hatte ich noch meine vorige
Arbeit, die ich nicht sofort aufgeben konnte. Ich bat
um Zeit, um mich langsam der Politik zu nähern und
zu sehen, ob ich dieser neuen Tätigkeit gewachsen
war. Wenn man etwas wirklich will, schafft man es
immer, und nun bin ich hier.
Zuerst habe ich zwei Jahre lang im Amt für Tourismus
der Regierung der Kanaren gearbeitet. Ich hatte
ein Amt als Vertrauensperson bei dem damaligen
Generaldirektor und Beauftragten für Tourismus,
Herrn Herrera. Dies war meine erste Erfahrung in
der öffentlichen Verwaltung. Schon 2004 habe ich in
meiner Firma um Beurlaubung gebeten und begann,
in der Generalverwaltung für Handel zu arbeiten, und
nun bin ich im Cabildo.
wir erinnern uns daran, dass sie anfangs sehr
beschäftigt waren, denn es war unmöglich, einen
termin mit Ihnen zu bekommen...
Ja, für einige Zeit hatte ich sehr viel zu tun, da ein
Kollege krank wurde und wir seine Arbeit übernehmen
mussten.
wofür ist Ihr amt zuständig?
Für das Netz der Zentren und Museen, für Kunsthandwerk,
Handel, Beschäftigung, institutionelle
Beziehungen zu anderen Verwaltungen, internationale
Kooperation in Entwicklungsfragen; allerdings
haben wir wegen den Budgetkürzungen für letzteres
2010 keine Mittel. Wir schließen nur einige Projekte
ab, die in den vergangenen Jahren begonnen wurden.
Dazu gehört auch eine Schule in Perú zu eröffnen.
Ihre erfahrung im tourismus hat Ihnen sicher geholfen,
das museumsnetz zu stärken und dessen
Bedeutung zu verstehen. stimmt das?
Die Museen haben eine große Bedeutung für den
Tourismus. Sie sind eine kulturelle Alternative zu den
Freizeitbeschäftigungen, und zurzeit erleben wir eine
spektakuläre Zunahme der Besucher. Wir haben heute
15 Museen, die von dienstags bis samstags für das
Publikum geöffnet sind. Die sechs wichtigsten davon
sind auch sonntags geöffnet. Es sind die, für die bei
unseren Besuchern die größte Nachfrage besteht.
Wir würden gerne alle Museen die ganze Woche lang
öffnen, aber zurzeit können wir uns das nicht leisten.
Wir sind dabei, zusammen mit dem kanarischen
Dienst für Beschäftigung ein Projekt zu entwickeln, in
dem wir Arbeitslose ausbilden, so dass diese dadurch
neue Arbeitsmöglichkeiten als Fremdenführer und als
Museumspersonal bekommen.
Wir möchten auch gerne Salzsieder ausbilden, um
diesen Beruf, der am Aussterben ist, zu erhalten.
Das gleiche gilt für Bäcker, die traditionelles Brot im
Holzofen herstellen. Wir wollen diese Berufe nicht nur
erhalten, sondern organisieren auch Darbietungen in

wie diese Arbeiten traditionell ausgeführt wurden.

Ich habe diese Arbeit begonnen und ich bin sehr
zufrieden. Dieses Jahr bekommen wir viel Besuch
von Schulen. Schon bis zum heutigen Tag sind mehr
gekommen als im ganzen letzten Jahr.

In einigen unserer Zentren ist der Eintritt frei. In

Wir sind auch dabei, das touristische Potential von

und den Mirador de Morro Velosa, die auch sonntags
öffnen werden. Wir haben mit dem Bürgermeister
und mit den Unternehmern der Gegend gesprochen,
um ihnen die Möglichkeit zu bieten, sich an dieser
Initiative zu beteiligen und auch einige Geschäfte
aufzumachen.
Außerdem gehören zu unserem Museumsnetz
auch die Geschäfte für Kunsthandwerk, in denen
unserer Kunsthandwerker ihre Arbeiten ausstellen
und verkaufen. Mit diesen Verkaufsstellen verschafft
der Cabildo den Kunsthandwerkern unentgeltlich
Zugang zu den Kunden.
Dieses Jahr werden wir einen Kurs über Grundlagen
der Informatik für unsere Kunsthandwerker organisieren,
die großes Interesse daran gezeigt haben. Einige
sehr alte Menschen haben Verwandte angemeldet,
die ihnen bei der Arbeit helfen.
Wir möchten Kurse für Kunsthandwerker geben,
die mit Palmblatt und Stoffen arbeiten oder Stickereien
anfertigen. Dadurch sollen diejenigen, die das
wünschen, neue Anregungen bekommen und Muster
kennenlernen, um ihre Werke zu aktualisieren, ohne
dass dabei die Traditionen vergessen werden,
Wir arbeiten auch an einer neuen Website für Kunsthandwerk
und für das Museumsnetz.
wir haben über fast alle tätigkeiten Ihres amtes
gesprochen. es fehlt nur noch der Handel. was
können sie uns darüber erzählen?
Wir sind dabei, Abkommen zu schließen, um
verschiedene Geschäftszonen zu dynamisieren. Wir
werden zusammen mit der Generalverwaltung für
Handel der Regierung der Kanaren 50 % der Kosten
übernehmen. Zusammen mit den Gemeinden werden
wir einige offene Geschäftszonen wieder beleben,
indem wir sie verschönern und leichter zugänglich
machen. Es wurden schon einige Projekte in Gran
Tarajal durchgeführt, und zurzeit geschieht es in
verschiedenen Zonen von Puerto del Rosario. Allerdings
werden diese Arbeiten in zukünftigen Phasen
noch ergänzt.
Wir wissen, dass die Bauarbeiten sowohl für die
Anwohner als auch für die Händler schwer zu ertragen
sind. Wir hoffen jedoch, dass sich dies bald ändert,
und dass die Betroffenen von den Ergebnissen der
Bauarbeiten belohnt werden.
Schon seit dem vergangen Jahr verwende ich einige
dieser Budgets zusammen mit den Geschäftsverbänden
und verschiedenen Gemeinden. Wir haben
verschiedene Aktivitäten durchgeführt, um diese
Geschäftszonen zu dynamisieren. Dazu gehören Degustationen
typischer Produkte, besondere Dekoration
der Schaufenster, musikalische Aktivitäten usw.

Ha llegado la vuelta al cole, ¡planifícala!

Con el comienzo del mes de septiembre se cierra
la puerta del verano para afrontar la temida vuelta
al colegio y a la rutina. Es el momento perfecto para
convertir un problema en una oportunidad.
Se acabaron las vacaciones y llega la temida vuelta
a la rutina que mucha gente identifica con una irremediable
depresión posvacacional. El regreso a casa, al
trabajo y a las obligaciones crea en los adultos una
sensación de desazón e incluso de angustia. Pero
este problema no es específico de los adultos. Los
niños, que después de más de dos meses de vacaciones
se enfrentan a la vuelta al colegio, también
tienen problemas para retomar el ritmo de las clases,
adaptarse a los horarios de las comidas y aceptar que
tienen menos tiempo para jugar.
De un día para otro, vuelven a tener obligaciones
y el cambio es tan brusco que los niños sufren el
mismo nivel de estrés que los adultos. Sin embargo,
lo demuestran de una manera diferente y, en lugar
de mostrarse tristes, es más probable que estén
agresivos, apáticos o incluso irritables.
un reaJuste ProGresIVo
Lo más recomendable es ir dosificando los cambios
para que, niños y mayores, puedan adaptarse a la
nueva situación. Al menos una semana antes del
comienzo de las clases, hay que recuperar la rutina
del sueño e ir adelantando, paulatinamente, tanto la
hora de irse a dormir por la noche como la hora de
despertarse por la mañana.
Con cariño y mimo, después de unos días algo complicados,
el niño pronto se acostumbrará de nuevo a
una rutina que será la habitual a lo largo del curso.
En esta misma línea, hay que hacer un esfuerzo
por volver a imponer el horario de las comidas y de
las cenas. Con estos reajustes, resultará mucho más
sencillo afrontar el reparto de los tiempos de ocio
y de actividades que, poco a poco, volverán a ser
protagonistas en la vida del pequeño.
una Buena oPortunIdad
De todos modos, y aunque la vuelta al cole no
deje de ser una obligación, se debe convertir en una
gran oportunidad. Para ello, lo mejor es potenciar los
aspectos positivos de esta situación.
Animar al niño a reunirse con sus amigos de cla-
se, después de meses separados, es una ocasión
de invitarle a acercarse al colegio con la alegría del

y de iniciar nuevas actividades.
Es evidente que no faltan factores para que los padres
logren que el niño afronte el retorno a la escuela
con optimismo. Lo importante es explicarles a los
peques que ha llegado la hora de volver a la escuela,
escuchar sus opiniones, compartir la elección de
una actividad extraescolar,… En definitiva, convertir
en algo natural una vuelta al cole que, mal llevada,
puede ser traumática.
¿todo lIsto?
Más allá de apoyar a los más pequeños en su vuelta
al cole, hay cosas que no debemos pasar por alto.

The beginning of September brings an end to
summer and the arrival of the feared return to school
and its routine. This is the perfect time to convert a
problem into an opportunity.
The holidays have ended and this is the return of
the feared routine that many people call the irremediable
post-holiday depression. Coming back home,
work and obligations brings a sensation of anxiety
or even distress to adults. But this problem is not
limited to adults. Children, who after two months of
holidays, have to face their return to school also have
problems to get back into the rhythm of their classes,
adapt to meal timetables and accept that they have
less time to play.
From one day to the next, they have obligations
again and the change is so brutal that children suffer
from the same level of stress than adults. However
they show it in a different manner and instead of
looking sad, they might be more aggressive, apathetic
or irritable.
a ProGressIVe adJustment
The most advisable is to dose the changes so that
children and adults can adapt to the new situation.
At least one week before the beginning of classes
it is best to get back into the sleeping routine and
bring forward, gradually both the bedtime and the
waking up time.
With kindness and cuddles, after a few complicated
days, the child will soon get used again to the routine
that will remain the same for the whole term.
Along those same lines, efforts must be made to go
back to fixed meal times. With those adjustments, it
will be simpler to go back to the distribution between
leisure time and activities that slowly will come back
into the life of the child.

In any case, and although the return to school
remains an obligation, it must become a great opportunity.
Therefore, it is better to put incentive on
the positive aspects of this situation.
Motivate the child to meet with school friends,
after months of separation, it is an opportunity to
get closer to school with the happiness of meeting
friends again, tell each other about their summer
adventures or play together again. It is also positive
to share with the child the excitement of a new class,
new experience, new school friends… It is the moment
to use the new school bag, books or desk even and
meet new teachers and start new activities.

Rückkehr! Anfang September hört der Sommer auf und wir Wir
müssen uns auf die gefürchtete Rückkehr in die
Schule und auf die Routine einstellen. Dies ist der
ideale Zeitpunkt, um aus einem Problem eine Chance
zu machen.
Die Ferien gehen zu Ende und die gefürchtete Rückkehr
zur Routine steht vor der Tür, die von vielen als
ein unvermeidbares Tief nach den Ferien betrachtet
wird. Die Rückkehr nach Hause, zur Arbeit und zu den
Verpflichtungen löst bei den Erwachsenen ein Gefühl
von Unbehagen aus und führt sogar zu Beklemmungen.
Aber nicht nur die Erwachsenen haben dieses
Problem, auch den Kindern, die nach zwei Monaten
Ferien in die Schule zurück müssen, fällt es schwer,
wieder den Schulrhythmus aufzunehmen, sich an die
Essenszeiten zu gewöhnen und zu akzeptieren, dass
sie nun weniger Zeit zum Spielen haben.
Auf einmal haben sie wieder Verpflichtungen; diese
Veränderung geschieht so ruckartig, das die Kinder
genauso gestresst sind wie die Erwachsenen. Sie
zeigen das jedoch auf andere Weise: Wahrscheinlich
sind sie nicht traurig, sondern aggressiv, apathisch
und sogar reizbar.
eIne allmÄHlIcHe umstellunG
Es wird empfohlen, die Umstellung zu dosieren,
damit sich Kinder und Erwachsene auf die neue
Situation einstellen können. Mindestens eine Woche
bevor der Unterricht wieder anfängt, muss der Schlafrhythmus
wieder eingeführt werden, und man sollte
sowohl die Schlafenszeit als auch die Aufstehzeit
nach und nach vorverlegen.
Wenn man das Kind liebkost und freundlich zu
ihm ist, wird sich es sich nach einigen schweren Tagen
wieder an die Routine gewöhnen, die zum dem
Schuljahr gehört.

werden. Daher ist es das Beste, die positiven
Aspekte dieser Situation zu stärken.
Man sollte das Kind dazu ermuntern, sich mit seinen
Schulfreunden zu treffen, die es seit Monaten nicht gesehen
hat. Auf diese Weise bekommt es einen Grund,
sich auf die Schule zu freuen, um seinen Freunden von
den Abenteuern zu erzählen, die es diesen Sommer
erlebt hat, und wieder mit ihnen zu spielen. Außerdem
ist es auch positiv, dem Kind Vorfreude auf ein neues
Schuljahr zu vermitteln, auf neue Erfahrungen, neue
Schulkameraden… Es ist die Zeit für einen neuen
Schulranzen, neue Bücher und sogar ein neues Schreibpult.
Es ist der Zeitpunkt, um von neuen Lehrern zu
profitieren und neue Aktivitäten zu beginnen.
So sollten es die Eltern erreichen können, dass
das Kind mit Optimismus in die Schule zurückkehrt.
Es ist wichtig den Kleinen zu erklären, dass sie nun
wieder in die Schule gehen müssen; wir sollten uns
ihre Meinungen anhören und zusammen mit ihnen
eine außerschulische Aktivität auswählen… Auf diese
Weise machen wir aus der Rückkehr in die Schule,
die traumatisch sein kann, wenn sie schlecht durchgeführt
wird, etwas ganz Normales.

Wir müssen unsere Kinder nicht nur bei der Rückkehr
in die Schule unterstützen, sondern dürfen

El turismo extranjero en tiempos de crisis

En tiempos de crisis, no hay mejor noticia para las
Islas Canarias que ver como se reactiva la primera
industria y motor del archipiélago. Han pasado más
de 50 años desde que las turistas y los turistas extranjeros
desembarcaran en las playas españolas y
las cosas han cambiado mucho. De hecho, factores
como las dificultades económicas han hecho que
alemanes e ingleses, entre otros, busquen alternativas
al sol y playa español en otros destinos más
económicos y sofisticados.
Sin embargo, pese a las crisis, los volcanes y los controladores
aéreos, Canarias es prácticamente la única
comunidad autónoma que ve crecer el sector turístico
de forma sostenible. A falta de los resultados de este
verano, que saldrán a la luz cuando se cierre el tercer
trimestre del año, Canarias recibió la visita de más de
cuatro millones de personas en el primer semestre
del año 2010. Estos datos suponen una subida de
un 2% interanual. A nivel económico, el gasto de los
turistas en sus vacaciones en las Islas Canarias en el
segundo trimestre alcanzó los 2.072.175.666 millones
de euros. Este gasto se materializa en un incremento
del 15% respecto al mismo período del año anterior,
según información del Instituto Canario de Estadística.
Si hablamos de turismo extranjero, la consejera
de Turismo del Gobierno de Canarias, Rita Martín,
valoró este verano como “espectacular” el repunte
de turistas procedentes de fuera de nuestro país. El
aumento más importante fue de los visitantes del
mercado británico, aunque también se incrementó
la llegada de los alemanes.
En cuanto al gasto por visitante, con una media
diaria de 96 euros, las cifras publicadas han sido
muy variables en función del país de origen del turista.
Mientras los suizos gastaron 149,62 € diarios,
según cifras del segundo trimestre de 2010, los de
los países nórdicos dejaron un promedio de 132,76
€. En total, según la Consejería autonómica, el gasto
medio por turista y día se incrementó en un 11,93%
en el segundo trimestre de este año.
Ante este análisis, y con la tendencia que vive el turismo
en España, los mejores augurios para el mes de agosto
recayeron en Canarias y, concretamente, en Fuerteventura,
donde la Confederación Española de Hoteles y
Alojamientos Turísticos presentó unas previsiones del
90% de ocupación hotelera. Si se han cumplido o incluso
superado es algo que sabremos en los próximos días.
oBJetIVo: canadÁ
Mientras, la Consejería de Turismo del Gobierno
canario, junto al turoperador Total Vacations, han
puesto su mirada en un nuevo mercado: Canadá. Con
el objetivo de atraer a turistas de esta procedencia,
se plantea un paquete turístico para la temporada
invernal con vuelos regulares a través de ciudades
como Madrid, Barcelona o Londres. Los destinos
serán Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura
y La Palma, aunque está previsto que se oferten
excursiones a varias islas.
Con un catálogo propio y un amplio calendario de
jornadas profesionales, la Consejería de Turismo ha emprendido
acciones que incluyen una campaña vía correo
electrónico o información de la oferta de alojamientos
en la revista profesional Travel Courier, entre otras.
Además, este mes de septiembre, el turoperador
canadiense va a organizar presentaciones del destino

la isla como destino ideal para la práctica de los deportes
náuticos. Con esta intención ha puesto en marcha una
iniciativa publicitaria que, hasta el próximo mes de octubre,
promociona la isla en Internet a través de la web
Windguru.com. Con su presencia en el portal más visitado
a nivel mundial por los aficionados a estos deportes,
Fuerteventura reafirma su posición en el sector del surf,
el windsurf y el kitesurf de cara a los principales países
emisores de turistas a la isla, como son, Gran Bretaña,
Irlanda, Alemania, Francia, Italia y España.

Foreign tourism in times of crisis

During times of crisis, there couldn’t be better
news for the Canary Islands than seeing how their
first industry and driving force of the Archipelago
is making a come back. Foreign tourists have been
coming to the Spanish beaches for over 50 years and
many changes have occurred since. Indeed, factors
such as financial difficulties have made German and
English tourists, to name a few, look for alternatives
to Spanish sun and beaches for more economical
and sophisticated destinations.
However, despite the crisis, volcanoes and air traffic
controllers, the Canaries are almost the only autonomous
community to see its tourism sector increase in
a durable manner. In the absence of this summer’s
figures that will be published after the third trimester
of the year, the Canaries have had the visit of over
four million people during the first semester 2010.
Those figures represent a 2% interannual increase.
Financially, during the second trimester, tourists spending
in the Canary Islands reached 2.072.175.666

the fact that the island is an ideal destination for nautical
sports. With this in mind, they have launched an
advertising campaign that until October will promote
the island on the internet through the Windguru.com
website. By being present on the most visited website
worldwide by sports enthusiasts, Fuerteventura is
consolidating its position in the sectors of surf, windsurf
and kitesurf in countries where most tourists are
coming from such as Great Britain, Ireland, Germany,
France, Italy and Spain.

In Krisenzeiten gibt es für die kanarischen Inseln
keine bessere Nachricht, als dass unsere Hauptindustrie
und der Motor des Archipels wieder wachsen.
Es sind 50 Jahre vergangen, seitdem die ersten ausländischen
Touristen an den spanischen Stränden
ankamen, und seit dieser Zeit haben sich die Dinge
sehr geändert. In der Tat haben Deutsche, Engländer
und andere Ausländer an billigeren und höher entwickelten
Orten nach Alternativen zur Sonne und zu
den Stränden Spaniens suchen.
Die Kanaren sind die einzige autonome Region,
in der der Tourismus trotz der Vulkane und der Fluglotsen
auf nachhaltige Weise wächst. Es gibt noch
keine Ergebnisse für diesen Sommer, die kommen
erst nach Abschluss des dritten Quartals des Jahres
heraus, aber die Kanaren wurden im ersten Quartal
2010 von mehr als vier Millionen Menschen besucht.
Dies ist gegenüber dem Vorjahr ein Anstieg um
2%. Im zweiten Quartal haben die Touristen auf den
kanarischen Inseln 2.072.175.666 Millionen Euro
ausgegeben. Dies beinhaltet nach Angaben des
kanarischen Instituts für Statistik ein Wachstum um

autonomen Region sind die durchschnittlichen Aus-
gaben der Touristen im zweiten Quartal um 11,93%
pro Tag gestiegen.
Angesichts dieser Untersuchung und der aktuellen
Tendenzen in der spanischen Tourismusbranche gab
es für August die besten Prognosen für die Kanaren
und besonders für Fuerteventura, wo der spanische

ausgestreckt: Kanada. Um Touristen von dort anzuziehen
wird für die Wintersaison ein Tourismuspaket
mit Linienflügen über Städte wie Madrid, Barcelona
und London entworfen. Die Reiseziele werden Teneriffa,
Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura und La
Palma sein, außerdem ist vorgesehen, Ausflüge auf
verschiedene Inseln anzubieten.
Das Amt für Tourismus hat mit einem eigenen Katalog
und zahlreichen Tagungen für Fachleute Aktionen
durchgeführt; dazu gehören unter anderem eine E-
Mail-Kampagne und Informationen über das Angebot
an Unterkünften in der Fachzeitschrift.
Außerdem wird ein kanadischer Reiseveranstalter
im September Präsentationen der kanarischen Inseln
als Urlaubsziel in ganz Kanada organisieren. Es sind
insgesamt 14 Veranstaltungen in Städten des ganzen
Landes vorgesehen. Der wichtigste Termin ist am 20.
September in Toronto, wo die Kanaren als Neuheit im
Katalog 2010-2011 präsentiert werden.
Idealer ort für wassersPort
Das Patronat für Tourismus von Fuerteventura setzt
darauf, dass die Insel ideal für den Wassersport ist.
Deshalb hat es eine Werbekampagne begonnen, die
bis Oktober auf der Website Windguru.com im Internet
für die Insel werben wird.
Dadurch, dass die Insel auf
der Website vertreten ist,
die von den begeisterten
Wassersportlern weltweit
am meisten besucht wird,
bestätigt sie im Bereich des
Surfen, Windsurfen und Kitesurfen
ihre Position in den
Ländern, aus denen die Mehrzahl
der Touristen stammt,
welche die Insel besuchen. Das sind Großbritannien,
Irland, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien und Spanien.

Los servicios de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo recuperan
un ejemplar aguililla
El Cabildo de Fuerteventura, a través de los servicios
de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente, devolvió, el
pasado mes, al medio natural un espécimen joven de
aguililla (Buteo buteo), que había aparecido diez días
atrás en un domicilio particular de la localidad de El
Cotillo desorientado y con síntomas de desnutrición.
Según la explicación del Departamento de Fauna
del Cabildo, el ejemplar se encontraba débil por falta
de alimentación y también posiblemente a causa de
las altas temperaturas.
Tras pasar diez días al cuidado de los oficiales de
fauna de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo en la Estación
Biológica de La Oliva, el espécimen fue soltado en el
Comedero de Guirres de Tiscamanita, donde encontrará
un entorno propicio para alimentarse y volver
a integrarse en el entorno.
Esta especie de ave rapaz cuenta con un status de
itinerante alrededor de todo el Archipiélago Canario,
siendo sus alimentos principales roedores como
ardillas y conejos y otras aves de pequeño tamaño
como palomas, perdices, gangas, etc.
En el nuevo Catálogo Canario de Especies Protegidas
(Ley 4/2010 de 4 de junio), el aguililla (Buteo
buteo), se reconoce en la categoría de Interés Especial,
al igual que ocurre en el catálogo Nacional de
Especies Protegidas.
Esta catalogación implica la necesidad de realizar
un seguimiento de su estado de conservación, y
establece una serie de prohibiciones relativas a cualquier
acción que tenga que ver con su perturbación,
persecución, captura, deterioro o muerte.
Además de las especificidades de las especies protegidas,
esta misma Ley establece que la perturbación,
muerte, captura o retención intencionada de cualquier
especie silvestre se considera sanción administrativa
grave, lo que puede acarrear a los infractores multas
de hasta 200.000 euros en caso de que estas infracciones
se produzcan en época de reproducción y
crianza, o en su trayecto de regreso hacia los lugares

de cría en el caso de las especias migratorias.
el Vuelo del aGuIlIlla
El aguililla se reconoce por su vuelo con las alas en
forma de ‘V’, a diferencia de otras rapaces similares
como los cernícalos o los halcones que son más
pequeños y vuelan con las alas planas.
Las rapaces que se pueden encontrar en Fuerteventura,
por orden de mayor a menor presencia, son el cuervo,
el alcaudón, el cernícalo, el aguililla, el halcón de berbería,
el halcón peregrino y el guincho o águila pescadora.

einen Mäusebussard aus

Das Amt für Umwelt des Cabildo von Fuerteventura
wilderte im vergangenen Monat ein jungen Mäusebussard
(Buteo buteo) aus, der zehn Tage vorher
in einem Privathaus in El Cotillo desorientiert und
unterernährt aufgefunden worden war.
Nach Angaben des Departements für Fauna des
Cabildo war der Vogel schwach, weil er unter Nahrungsmangel
und möglicherweise auch unter den
hohen Temperaturen gelitten hatte.
Nachdem der Vogel zehn Tage von den Verantwortlichen
für Fauna des Umweltamtes des Cabildo auf
der biologischen Station in La Oliva gepflegt worden
war, wurde er auf dem Futterplatz für Schmutzgeier
in Tiscamanita freigelassen, einem geeigneten Ort,
wo er Nahrung findet und sich wieder in seinen natürlichen
Lebensraum integrieren kann.
Diese Vogelart zieht durch den ganzen kanarischen
Archipel, und ihre Hauptnahrung besteht aus Nagetieren
wie Eichhörnchen und Hasen sowie aus kleineren
Vögeln wie Tauben, Rebhühnern, Flughühner usw.
Der Mäusebussard (Buteo buteo) wird im neuen
kanarischen Katalog der geschützten Arten (Gesetz
4/2010 vom 4. Juni) und im nationalen Katalog der
geschützten Arten in der Kategorie “besonders interessant”
geführt.
Diese Katalogisierung bedeutet, dass es notwendig
ist, auf den Erhalt dieser Arten zu achten, und setzt
zahlreiche Verbote fest, die das Stören, Verfolgen,
Fangen, Schädigen und Töten betreffen.
Dieses Gesetz bestimmt nicht nur die Spezifikationen
der geschützten Arten, sondern auch, dass
das absichtliche Stören, Töten und Fangen von
wilden Tieren als schweres administratives Delikt
gilt, und dass es die Rechtsbrecher Geldstrafen bis
zu 200.000 Euro kosten kann, wenn diese Verstöße
zur Zeit der der Fortpflanzung und der Aufzucht oder
bei Zugvögeln auf dem Weg an deren Aufzuchtsorten
geschehen.

Man erkennt den Mäusebussard an seinem Flug
mit seinen V-förmigen Flügeln. Die übrigen ähnlichen
Raubvögel wie Falken dagegen sind kleiner und haben
flache Flügel.
Auf Fuerteventura kann man folgende Raubvögel
sehen, die nach ihrer Anzahl geordnet sind (zuerst
kommen die, von denen es am meisten gibt): Krähen,
Würger, Falken, Mäusebussarde, Wüstenfalken, Wanderfalken
und Fischadler.

Council services released a young Common Buzzard
(Buteo buteo) in the wild last month that had turned
up ten days before at the home of a neighbour in El
Cotillo, disorientated and with malnutrition symptoms.
According to the Cabildo’s Fauna Department, the
specimen was very weak for lack of food and possibly
also because of the heat.
After spending ten days in the care of the Cabildo’s
environment fauna officials at the Biological Station
of La Oliva, the specimen was released at the
Guirres’ feeder in Tiscamanita where he will find
suitable ground to feed on and get integrated into
its environment.
This species of bird of prey has a status of migrant
bird throughout the Canaries Archipelago, its main
food source being rodents such as squirrels and
rabbits and other small birds such as pigeons, partridges,
etc.
In the new Canarian Catalogue of Protected Species
(Law 4/2010 of 4th June) the Common Buzzard
(Buteo buteo) is listed in the Special Interest category
as in the National Catalogue of Protected Species.
This label implies the necessity to follow its preservation
and establishes a series of prohibitions as
to any kind of action that would be related to its disruption,
persecution, capture, deterioration or death.
In addition to the specifications of the protected
species, this Law also establishes that the disruption,
death, capture or intentional detention of any wild
species carries a severe administrative sanction and
could mean fines of up to 200.000 Euros for offenders
if those offences happen during reproduction or
breeding periods, or during migratory birds’ travels to
their reproduction sites.
tHe flIGHt of tHe common BuZZard
This Common Buzzard can be recognised by its
flight with “V” shaped wings, whereas other similar
birds of prey like kestrels and falcons are smaller and
have flat wings.
The birds of prey that can be found in Fuerteventura
are, in order of the most commonly found to the least:
crows, shrikes, kestrels, common buzzards, Berber
falcons, Peregrine falcon, and Ospreys.

Se puede acceder a las grutas caminando
sobre las rocas y mejor aún
nadando para poder contemplar sus
paisajes interiores, cuando el mar está
en calma. El Mirador, desde el que se
aprecia un paisaje fuerte de rocas mar
abierto con una vista de la pequeña playa
del pueblecito típico de pescadores.
De camino hacia Ajuy, encontramos el
precioso valle de la Vega de Río Palma
y con el Santuario de la Virgen de la
Peña, patrona de la Isla, al que acuden
en masiva romería los peregrinos en el
mes de septiembre, y el Barranco de
las Peñitas donde se recoge el agua de
lluvia de forma natural.

swimming there in order to be able to
admire the interior of the caves. From
the Mirador you will have the best view
of the cliffs, the sea and the small
beach of this tiny typical fishing village.
On the way to Ajuy, you will go through
the magnificent valley of Vega de Rio
Palma where you can visit the «Virgen
de la Peña» Sanctuary, patron saint of
the Island. This is where many pilgrims
come during the month of September,
as well as at the Barranco de la Peñitas
where the rain water gets
accumulated naturally.

Wirkung ausübt.. Am Aussichtspunkt
haben Sie eine Sicht auf den kleinen
Strand und das Fischerdorf Ajuy. Auf
dem Weg nach Ajuy gehen wir durch
das schöne Tal von Vega Río de Palma
an der heiligen Jungfrau Virgen de la
Peña vorbei, zu der die Pilger im Monat
September eine Pilgerfahrt machen.
Weiter durch die Schlucht Barranco de
las Peñitas wo auf natürlicher Weise
das Regenwasser in Bächen aus den
Bergehängen hervortritt.

Clementina Castro – Artesanía con flores
“Ahora estoy desarrollando una línea de
bisutería con flores secas”
FMHOY - Fuerteventura
Hoy traemos a nuestras páginas los trabajos de
artesanía de Clementina Castro, asturiana de origen
pero afincada en Fuerteventura desde hace más de
veinticinco años. Su trabajo se basa en la recolección,
preparación y decoración ornamental con flores secas
o prensadas de todo tipo de objetos.
¿cómo comenzó su afición por este tipo de artesanía?
Tenía una amiga dueña de una floristería, que un
día me dijo: “se me van a estropear estas flores, llévatelas
y mira que puedes hacer con ellas”, y lo hice;
comencé a indagar cómo podía secarlas, a buscar
libros para ver de cuantas formas se podían tratar.
La curiosidad hizo que empezase a recogerlas yo
misma, a secarlas, a decolorarlas, probaba lo que
había leído y comencé a hacer centros. Mi amiga
me enseño un poco a montar centros, ramos, etc.
Vimos que tenían aceptación en la floristería y se
vendían bien.
¿de qué fecha estamos hablando?
Era el año 1992; luego durante varios años lo deje
aparcado, aunque siempre tenía flores prensadas
que utilizaba para hacer alguna felicitación, postal
o pequeños regalos. También en los paquetes de
navidad, colocaba algún adorno de flores secas,
nunca lo dejé del todo.
¿Y cómo surge la idea de dedicarse a ello de
forma más profesional?
Hablando con una amiga que iba a un mercadillo,
que hace un trabajo muy bonito sobre tejas, me
preguntó cuál era mi especialidad y le hice un marcapáginas
con flores secas. Tuvo éxito y rápidamente
me fueron demandando más cada día. Me fui entusiasmando
y comencé a ir al mercadillo del Centro
Comercial del Campanario con diferentes diseños.
¿sigue yendo al mercadillo a corralejo?
Actualmente no, porque al tener más demanda
y más puntos de venta aprovecho los domingos y
festivos para trabajar en mis creaciones y reponer la
demanda de lo vendido. El resto de los días tengo otro
trabajo al que me dedico de lleno y si no descanso,
no podría atenderlo como debo.
¿dónde se pueden encontrar sus creaciones
florales?
En las tiendas de artesanía del Cabildo, la del
aeropuerto y, partir de septiembre, en la de Juan
Ismael y creo que también en la de Antigua. Se
encuentran también en una tienda particular de
souvenirs que hay en el muelle de cerca de donde
llegan los cruceros.
¿Qué novedades tiene en mente para un futuro?
Estoy desarrollando, con flores secas, una línea de
bisutería que espero que en breve esté en algunas
tiendas.
¿usa flores de fuerteventura?, pues aunque no lo
parezca a simple vista, la variedad floral de esta
isla es enorme...
Sí, efectivamente, sobre todo las recojo personalmente.
Deben ser recogidas a ciertas horas para
evitar que tengan exceso de humedad. El secado
es muy importante para que no pierdan color y no
parezcan marchitas, luego el prensado es diferente si
va a ser plana o con volumen dependiendo de cómo
y dónde van a ser colocadas.
Además, debido al tipo de fragilidad que presenta
cada flor, el tratamiento que debo darla es distinto.
¿Hace trabajos por encargo?
Por supuesto, siempre me adapto al trabajo que me
pida el cliente. Sobre todo cuando preparo libros antiguos
como recuerdo para un profesor o alguna persona
especial, que es un trabajo que siempre se solicita
expresamente, procuro personalizarlos al máximo.

Clementina Castro – Handcraft maker with flowers
“I am now developing a jewellery line with
dried flowers”

Today we have brought to our pages the creations
of Clementina Castro, who is from Asturias but has
lived in Fuerteventura for over twenty five years. Her
work is based on picking, preparing and drying flowers
and using them to create ornaments.
How did you start being interested in this type of
handcraft?
One of my friends owned a flower shop, and one
day she told me: “those flowers are dying, take them
home and see if you can do something with them”,
and so I did; I started looking how I could dry them,
looking for books to see which way to handle them.
Curiosity made me start picking flowers myself to
dry and discolour them, try out what I had read
about it. My friend gradually taught me how to make
table centre pieces, bouquets, etc. We saw that they
appealed to people in the flower shop and that they
were selling well.
when was this?
It was in 1992; later after a few years I left it to a
side, although I still had flowers pressed that I used
for special occasions, cards or small presents. Also at
Christmas I put a few dried flowers on the presents’
wrapping paper, I never left it completely.
and how did you get the idea of dedicating yourself
to it in a more professional manner?
I was speaking with a friend who was exhibiting at
a market, she does beautiful creations on tiles, and
she asked me what my specialty was, so I made her a
bookmark with dried flowers. It was such a success in
so little time that they asked more everyday. It got me
motivated and I started exhibiting at El Campanario
Commercial Centre with different designs.
do you still exhibit at the market in corralejo?
Not at present because as I have more demand and
more points of sale, I take advantage of Sundays and
bank holidays to work on my creations and provide
more stock for what has been sold. The other days I
have my other full time job and if I was not to rest, I
could not work properly.
where can we find your floral creations?
In the Cabildo’s handcraft shops, in the airport and
from September onwards, in the Juan Ismael shop
and I believe in Antigua’s shop also. Some can also
be found in a private souvenir shop in the harbour,
close to where the cruise ships dock.
do you have any new ideas for the future?
I am developing a line of jewellery with dried flowers,
which I hope will soon be available in some shops.
do you use flowers from fuerteventura? although
it may not look like it at first glance, there is a
large variety of flowers on this island…
Yes, indeed, I collect them myself. They have to be
collected at a certain time of the day to avoid having
too much humidity. The drying stage is very important
so that flowers don’t loose their colours or look shrivelled,
later the pressing stage is different depending
if the flowers will be flat or with volume according to
how they will be used.
Furthermore, because of the different level of
fragility of each flower, each one has to be handled
differently.
do you make creations on order?

“Zurzeit entwickle ich eine
Modeschmucklinie aus Trockenblumen”

Heute berichten wir in unserer Zeitschrift über
die Arbeit der aus Asturien stammenden Kunsthandwerkerin
Clementina Castro, die seit mehr als
fünfundzwanzig Jahren auf Fuerteventura lebt. Ihre
Arbeit besteht aus dem Pflücken, dem Präparieren
und der Dekoration von Trockenblumen. Außerdem
verarbeitet sie gepresste Blumen auf allen möglichen
Gegenständen.
wie haben sie mit diesem kunsthandwerk begonnen?
Eines Tages sagte mir eine Freundin, die ein Blumengeschäft
hatte: „Diese Blumen sind kurz davor zu
verwelken, nimm sie mit und schau, was du daraus
machen kannst.” Ich tat das und erkundigte mich, wie
ich die Blumen trocknen könnte, und ich schaute in
Büchern nach, auf welche verschiedenen Arten man
sie verarbeiten könnte.
Ich war neugierig und begann, selbst Blumen zu
pflücken und diese zu trocknen und zu bearbeiten.
Ich probierte das, was ich gelesen hatte und begann
Gestecke zu machen. Meine Freundin brachte mir bei,
wie man Gestecke, Sträuße usw. macht. Wir sahen,
dass diese im Blumengeschäft gut ankamen und sich
gut verkaufen ließen.
wann war das?
Ich habe die geschäftliche Nutzung einige Jahre
aufgeschoben, aber ich hatte immer gepresste Blumen,
die ich für Glückwunschkarten, Postkarten und
kleine Geschenke verwendete. Ich schmückte auch
Weihnachtsgeschenke mit Trockenblumen. Ich habe
diese Arbeit nie ganz aufgegeben.
und wie kamen sie auf die Idee, daraus eine
professionelle tätigkeit zu machen?
Ich sprach mit einer Freundin, die auf einem Markt
verkaufte. Sie macht sehr schöne Arbeiten auf Ziegeln.
Sie fragte mich, worauf ich spezialisiert sei und ich
stellte für sie ein Lesezeichen aus Trockenblumen her.
Ich hatte Erfolg und ständig stieg die Nachfrage. Ich
war begeistert und begann, diese mit verschiedenen
Mustern auf dem Markt des Einkaufszentrums El
Campanario zu verkaufen.
Verkaufen sie immer noch auf dem markt von
corralejo?
Zurzeit nicht; da eine größere Nachfrage besteht
und ich an mehreren Orten verkaufe, nutze ich die
Sonn- und Feiertage zum Arbeiten, damit ich die
verkaufte Ware ersetzen kann. An den übrigen Wochentagen
habe ich eine andere Vollzeitarbeit und
wenn ich mich nicht ausruhe, kann ich diese nicht
perfekt machen.
wo kann man Ihre Blumenarbeiten kaufen?
In den Kunsthandwerksläden des Cabildo, am
Flughafen und ab September auch in dem Laden
von Juan Ismael und, wie ich glaube, auch im Laden
von Antigua. Sie werden darüber hinaus in einem
privaten Souvenirgeschäft an der Hafenmole für die
Kreuzfahrtschiffe verkauft.
welche Pläne haben sie für die Zukunft?
Ich bin dabei, eine Linie für Modeschmuck aus
Trockenblumen zu entwickeln und hoffe, dass dieser
bald in einigen Geschäften erhältlich sein wird.
Verwenden sie Blumen aus fuerteventura? auch
wenn man es nicht auf den ersten Blick bemerkt,
gibt es auf der Insel extrem viele verschiedene
Blumen...

Ja und ich pflücke diese Blumen selbst. Sie müssen
zu bestimmten Zeiten gepflückt werden, damit sie
nicht zu viel Wasser enthalten. Es ist sehr wichtig
sie auf die richtige Weise zu trocknen, damit sie ihre
Farbe nicht verlieren und nicht verwelkt aussehen.
Danach kommt das Pressen, und die Methode ist anders
wenn die Blume ganz oder platt verwendet wird.
Außerdem muss jede Blume anders behandelt
werden, weil einige empfindlicher sind als andere.
machen sie auftragsarbeiten?
Natürlich, ich mache immer das, worum der Kunde
mich bittet. Vor allem wenn ich alte Bücher aufarbeite,
die Erinnerungen an einen Lehrer oder an eine
besondere Person sind - derartige Arbeiten werden
immer speziell bestellt- bemühe ich mich, diese so
persönlich wie möglich zu gestalten.

Im Verjüngungszentrum Oxygen auf Fuerteventura,
das vor kurzem in Puerto del Rosario eröffnet wurde,
werden sowohl für Frauen als auch für Männer zahlreiche
Behandlungen mit den neusten Technologien
für die Schönheitspflege angeboten: Lpg Endermologie,

Miss y Míster Fuerteventura 2010

El pasado 24 de julio se celebró el certamen de
Miss y Míster Fuerteventura 2010. La gala tuvo lugar
en un centro comercial de Puerto del Rosario y en ella
se pudo disfrutar de 7 candidatos y 11 candidatas
que aspiraban a Miss y Míster Fuerteventura 2010.
Posaron en bikini y bañador respectivamente y
posteriormente en traje de coctel las chicas y en traje
los chicos. Tuvo una duración de 2 horas aproximadamente
y estuvo amenizada por el grupo El Pez Listo.
Finalmente, Raquel Perdomo Morrillo fue la elegida
y Victor Garcia Núñez el elegido. 1º finalista y 1ª Dama
fueron Yusep López Hierro y Noelia Morera Sáez y 2º
Finalista y 2ª Dama fueron Lucas Palacios Peronti y
Patricia Gómez Saavedra.
Varias empresas locales colaboraron con el evento,
así como el Centro Comercial y la agencia Planificaciones
Mundiales.
Miss and Mister
Fuerteventura 2010
The Miss and Mister Fuerteventura 2010 contest
took place on 24th July. The gala was organised in
Puerto del Rosario’s commercial centre where 7
male candidates and 11 female candidates were
witnessed during the contest for Miss and Mister
Fuerteventura 2010.
They walked around in bikinis and swimming costumes
respectively and later wore evening gowns for the
girls and suits for the boys. The event lasted about two
hours and was animated by the band “El Pez Listo”.
Finally it was Raquel Perdomo Morrillo and Victor
Garcia Nuñez who won the contest and the runners
up were Yusep López Hierro and Noelia Morera Sáez
and the second runners up Lucas Palacios Peronti
and Patricia Gómez Saavedra.

Am 24. Juni fand die Miss und Mister Fuerteventura
Wahl 2010 statt. Die Galaveranstaltung fand in einem
Einkaufszentrum in Puerto del Rosario statt. Es gab
7 Kandidaten und 11 Kandidatinnen, die Miss oder
Mister Fuerteventura 2010 werden wollten.
Sie posierten zuerst im Bikini und mit Badehose,
danach trugen die Mädchen Cocktail-Kleider und die

Jungs Anzüge. Die Veranstaltung dauerte ungefähr
2 Stunden. Zum Abschluss trat die Gruppe El Pez
Listo auf.
Schließlich wurden Raquel Perdomo Morrillo und
Victor Garcia Núñez gewählt. Der 1. Finalist und die
erste Dame wurden Yusep López Hierro und Noelia
Morera Sáez, der 2. Finalist und die 2. Dame wurden
Lucas Palacios Peronti und Patricia Gómez Saavedra.
An diesem Event waren mehrere örtliche Unternehmen
sowie das Einkaufszentrum und die Agentur
Planificaciones Mundiales beteiligt.
REAPERTURA DE “CASA MANÉ”
Tras un tiempo cerrado para realizar mejoras,
abre sus puertas al público el Centro de Arte Canario
“Casa Mané” en La Oliva, donde se puede
disfrutar de unaextensa colección de arte.

Fuerteventura presente en el
Rainforest Murça

Un año más, el equipo de Fuerteventura 4x4 participa
en la prueba internacional de todoterreno extremo
Rainforest Murça, que en su edición del 2010 se
celebra este mes de septiembre en Portugal, donde
se enfrentará a otros equipos de Inglaterra, Francia,
Alemania, Italia, Portugal, España, etc., esperando
repetir los excelentes resultados alcanzados en ediciones
anteriores.
En esta edición, el Range Rover pilotado por Elías
Badra y Juan Carlos Vera, ha recibido diversas modificaciones
desde la última participación en la edición
anterior, con el objetivo de convertirlo en un vehículo
capaz de superar a sus competidores en las duras
pruebas a las que tendrán que enfrentarse en la
edición del presente año. La experiencia acumulada
en años anteriores y en otras pruebas de 4x4 en las
que ha participado el equipo, tales como Challenger x
Ttren Francia, en colaboración con el equipo Ekolan.
Han servido de guía para presentar en esta Rainforest
2010 un equipo sólido y de una calidad probada, con
grandes expectativas. Tal y como nos explicaba Elías
Badra, “este año llevamos un coche completamente
diferente diseñado; basándonos en la experiencias de
competiciones realizadas tanto en territorio nacional
como internacional preparamos el coche para llevar al
equipo Fuerteventura a lo más alto del podio”.
Esta edición de la Rainforest 2010 comenzaba con
una prueba especial nocturna el 4 de septiembre en la
localidad de Vimioso, en Portugal. En días sucesivos,
se sucederían pruebas tanto diurnas como nocturnas
en las que, tanto hombre como máquinas, deberán
superar numerosos obstáculos que pondrán a prueba
sus capacidades y resistencia. Las sucesivas ediciones
de la Rainforest han mostrado un nivel cada vez mayor
de exigencia en numerosas etapas de superación de
obstáculos, orientación y trabajo en equipo, con una
importante asistencia de público y eco internacional
en numerosas publicaciones del motor.
Fuerteventura takes part
in the Rainforest Murça
Once again this year, Fuerteventura’s 4x4 team participates
in the international extreme 4x4 Rainforest
Murça championship which for its 2010 edition takes
place in September in Portugal where teams from
England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, etc.
will compete hoping to repeat the excellent results
achieved previously.
In this edition, the Range Rover piloted by Elías
Badra and Juan Carlos Vera, has been modified since
its last challenge in order to convert it into a vehicle
more able to compete with its opponents in the tough
stages that are to be faced in this year’s edition. The
experience gained over the past few years and in other
4x4 challenges where the team has competed such
as X-Trem Challenge 4x4 in France in collaboration
with the Ekolan team have been a guide in entering
into this Rainforest 2010 challenge with a strong
team, with proven records and great expectations.
As Elías Badra was explaining, “this year we have a
car that has been completely redesigned; we based
ourselves on experiences from previous challenges
in Spain and abroad and transformed the car in order
to get Fuerteventura’s team on the highest step of
the podium”.
This edition of Rainforest 2010 starts with a special
night time stage on 4th September in Vimioso in Portugal.
Then day time and night time stages will follow
where both men and machines will have to overcome
many obstacles and test their abilities and resistance.
The successive editions of Rainforest have shown
an ever increasing level of difficulties in numerous
stages of obstacle overcoming, orientation and team
work, with a large public attendance and a substantial
coverage in many motor racing publications.
The team took the boat on 22nd August towards
Seville and later carried on by road to Portugal. The
challenge finishes on 12th September and we hope
that Elías and Juan Carlos will have demonstrated
once again the great 4x4 level of Fuerteventura.
Fuerteventura kommt
zum Rainforest Murça
Auch dieses Jahr nimmt die 4x4-Mannschaft aus
Fuerteventura an dem internationalen Extremsport-
Wettkampf Rainforest Murça teil, das im September
2010 in Portugal stattfindet. Dort wird die
Mannschaft von der Insel gegen Mannschaften aus
England, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien, Portugal,
Spanien usw. kämpfen und hofft, dass sie genauso
hervorragende Ergebnisse erreichen wird wie in den
vergangenen Jahren.
Der Range Rover, der von Elías Badra und Juan
Carlos Vera gesteuert wird, wurde seit dem letzten
Rennen um einiges verändert. Damit wurde beabsichtigt
das Fahrzeug so auszustatten, dass es in der
Lage ist, seine Konkurrenten bei den harten Kämpfen
zu übertreffen, an denen sie dieses Jahr teilnehmen
müssen. Die Erfahrungen, die sie in den vergange-
nen Jahren und bei anderen 4x4-Kämpfen wie dem
Challenger x Ttren Frankreich, zusammen mit der
Mannschaft Ekolan gesammelt haben,
waren nützlich, um beim Rainforest 2010 eine solide
Mannschaft zu präsentieren, die ihre Fähigkeiten
schon bewiesen hat. Elías Badra hat uns erklärt:
„Dieses Jahr fahren wir mit einem Auto, das ganz
anders entworfen wurde; dabei stützten wir uns auf
die Erfahrungen, die wir bei nationalen und bei internationalen
Wettkämpfen gemacht haben. Wir haben
das Auto so präpariert, dass wir die Mannschaft von
Fuerteventura so gut wie möglich vertreten können”.
Das Rainforest 2010 beginnt am 4. September in
Vimioso in Portugal mit einem besonderen, nächtlichen
Wettkampf. In den darauf folgenden Tagen
werden sowohl tagsüber als auch nachts Wettkämpfe
stattfinden, bei denen sowohl Männer als auch Maschinen
zahlreiche Hindernisse überwinden müssen,
um ihre Fähigkeiten und ihre Ausdauer zu beweisen.
In der Vergangenheit stieg das Niveau bei Rainforest
von Jahr zu Jahr; die zu bestehenden zahlreichen
Wettkämpfe, bei denen Hindernisse überwunden,
die Orientierung geprüft und Arbeit in der Mannschaft
gefragt war, wurden immer schwieriger. Es kam
viel Publikum, und zahlreiche internationale Motor-
Zeitschriften berichteten über das Ereignis.

Cristina Schonung, portavoz de la comunidad de Los Risquetes
“Pretendemos mantener un aspecto rural, y
vivir de forma ecológica”

Hemos sido invitados por Cristina Schonung a
visitar Los Risquetes en Villaverde.
Tras seguirla por un terrible camino de tierra ondulado
durante varios kilómetros hemos llegado a una
zona parcelada con preciosas casas integradas en su
mayoría en el paisaje. Tanto es así, que apenas en la
distancia se aprecian las construcciones. Solo algunos
pequeños oasis verdes destacan en el entorno.
Frente a estas edificaciones se extiende una preciosa
vista que alcanza hasta Lanzarote. Montañas,
dunas, mar, forman un mosaico de belleza especial.
Los Risquetes es una zona parcelada en fincas de
mínimo 3.000 m2, que en sus orígenes fue el terreno
donde un pastor cuidaba su rebaño. Tras conseguir
el necesario permiso, fue vendiendo el terreno para
su posterior urbanización.
Nos cuenta Cristina…
“Un arquitecto yugoslavo propuso la idea de construir
las casas, recubiertas de piedra volcánica o en
colores tierra oscura, tan integradas en el conjunto de
las montañas que rodean el lugar que no rompieran la
armonía del paisaje. Siempre se pretendió mantener
un aspecto rural, y vivir de forma ecológica, y por esa
razón asumieron que no dispondrían de electricidad,
salvo la adquirida a través de sus placas solares y
que el agua que les permitieron enganchar de una
general cercana del consorcio, sería reciclada y aprovechada
para sus jardines.
Todo iba por buen camino hasta que el tiempo ha
ido pasando y los propietarios de estas fincas, han
empezado a ver como todo se volvía dificultades y
aplazamientos.”
Casi todos los propietarios son extranjeros, aunque
como Cristina, residente con más de 25 años en la
isla, y sienten que esto les dificulta mucho entenderse
a la hora de negociar con los centros administrativos,
para poder llegar a los acuerdos que les permitan
continuar la mejora del acceso a sus viviendas.
cuéntenos cristina, cuales son los problemas
que tienen en los risquetes?
Para empezar, hemos demostrado que se puede
crear una urbanización ecológica y estética acorde con
el medio ambiente, que la idea podía ser un proyecto
posible de construcción en la isla. En su momento tuvo
una gran acogida por parte del Ayuntamiento, pero con
el tiempo no recibimos ninguna ayuda.
Pedimos que, contando con nuestra aportación y,
estamos dispuestos a colaborar económicamente,
se nos asfalte la carretera que llega hasta la general
de Villaverde. Además de la lluvia que cada invierno
la destruye, tenemos ahora el paso de los camiones
que llevan material para la construcción de la autopista
norte. Cuando empezamos a reclamar al Ayuntamiento
de la Oliva, nos dijeron que cada mes se mandaría
aplanar y mejorar los daños producidos por este nuevo
transito habitual, cosa que no han cumplido. Casi cada
año tiene que pasar una máquina para que el camino
se vuelva accesible después del barro. Seria mucho
más fácil asfaltarlo de una vez definitivamente.
No es necesario que sea una ancha carretera. Con

un espacio para un coche nos conformaríamos, ya
que al no ser tantos vecinos podemos cedernos el
paso en caso de estrechamiento al cruzarnos.
¿Han intentado hablar esto con las administraciones
correspondientes?
Sí, desde luego, pero es prácticamente imposible
llegar a las personas adecuadas que pueden tomar
una decisión.
Nos pasa igual con los permisos de construcción.
Sabemos que estos terrenos no pueden extenderse
para su urbanización, pero no es lógico que gente
que compro sus fincas dentro de la zona autorizada
y parcelada lleve mas de cinco años con el dinero en
los bancos de Fuerteventura intentando conseguir un
permiso de obra. Esto no es una construcción turística,
pero estamos afectados por el P.I.O.F.
Hasta donde sabemos, el P.I.o.f. está ya aprobado
o le falta ya muy poco...
Sí, alcaldes anteriores ya nos dijeron que en cuanto
estuviese aprobado, ya tenían libertad para poder autorizarnos,
pero actualmente la contestación que recibimos
es “no sabemos nada”, lo cual es muy preocupante.
Las personas que esperan esta autorización son
personas jubiladas, que quieren vivir aquí y compraron
su terreno y lógicamente son una fuente de
ingresos a través de sus pensiones para la isla. No
son personas que vienen a buscar trabajo.
Hemos acudido a su magazine, porque sabemos
que son muchas las personas que lo leen y quizás
alguien se haga eco de nuestra solicitud. Además
invitamos a quien desee visitar el lugar, y conocer
nuestra forma de vida aquí.
Esperamos que al leer estas líneas las personas
adecuadas les brinden la ayuda que solicitan. Estamos
seguros que valoraran la aportación económica
que supone para la isla y también la fuente de trabajo
de construcción para las gentes de la zona.

“We are trying to respect the rural landscape
and live in an ecological manner”

We have been invited by Cristina Schonung to visit
Los Risquetes in Villaverde.
After following a difficult winding dirt track for various
kilometres, we reached an area with beautiful
houses which mostly blend into the landscape. So
much so that in the distance one can hardly notice
the buildings. Only a few green oasis stand out from
the landscape.
In front of those few buildings, the beautiful view
extends until Lanzarote. Mountains, dunes and the
sea make a unique and beautiful mosaic.
Los Risquetes is an area divided in plots of 3.000
m2 minimum which originally was where a shepherd
used to keep his herd. After getting the necessary
licenses, the land was sold in order to be urbanised.
Cristina tells us about it…
“A Yugoslavian architect proposed the idea of building
houses, covering them with volcanic rocks or
in dark earthy colours that would blend in with the
mountains around them in order not to disturb the
harmonious landscape. The aim has always been to
respect the rural landscape and live in an ecological
manner, and this is why it was decided that they
would not have electricity unless it was through solar
panels and that the water they were getting from the
water board would be recycled and used to water
the gardens.
It was all going very well until, as time went by,
owners started experiencing difficulties and delays”.
Almost all the owners are foreigners, although
like Cristina, a resident for the past 25 years on the
island, and they feel that this is making it difficult for
them to communicate when it comes to negotiating
with the administration when making requests for
permits to make improvements on the access road
to their properties.
tell us cristina, what problems are los risquetes
facing?
First of all, we have proved that it is possible to
create an ecological urbanisation that blends in
with its environment, and that this idea could be a
possible building project on the island. At the time
the Ayuntamiento was quite in favour but we did
not get any subventions. Considering our input and
being prepared to participate financially, we asked
for the road that leads to Villaverde to be resurfaced
with tarmac. In addition to the rain that destroys the
road every winter, we now have lorries that go back
and forward with materials of the North motorway
construction. When we started complaining at the
Ayuntamiento of La Oliva they told us every month
that they would have the track flattened and that
damages created by this new type of traffic would be
repaired, which they have not done. Almost once per
year a machine has to go through so that the track
can be made accessible again because of the mud. It
would be much easier if the road surfacing was done
once and for all.
It is not necessary to widen the road. We are quite
happy to have space for one car to go through because
there are not many neighbours and we can give
way to one another when required.
Have you tried to contact the administration
concerned?
Yes of course, but it is almost impossible to get to
the person that can actually make a decision.
We are having the same problems with building
permits. We know that those plots cannot be extended
to be built on but it is not logical that people who
purchased land within the authorised area that was
made into plots over five years ago are waiting with
money sitting in Fuerteventura banks trying to get a
building licence. This is not a tourist building site but
we are submitted by the P.I.O.F.
as far as we know the P.I.o.f. has already been
approved or is about to…
Yes, the previous mayors already had the opportunity
to give us the authorisation, but the reply we are
now getting is “we don’t know”, which is very worrying.
People who are waiting for this authorisation are
retired people who want to live here and therefore
purchased that plot of land and logically they are
a source of income through their pensions for the
island. Those are not people who came here looking
for work.
We have turned to your magazine because we know
that many people read it and maybe someone will
hear about our request. Furthermore we are inviting
anyone who wants to find out about the site and our
way of life here to come along.
We hope that people concerned who read those
lines will give them the support they seek. We are
sure that the financial contribution and the source of
employment in the building trade that this represents
for the island will be greatly valued.

“Wir wollen das ländliche Aussehen
beibehalten und ökologisch leben”

Wir sind von Cristina Schonung nach Los Risquetes
in Villaverde eingeladen worden.
Nachdem wir ihr mehrere Kilometer auf einem
schrecklichen Weg gefolgt waren, kamen wir zu einem
parzellierten Gelände mit wunderschönen Häusern,
von denen die Mehrzahl in die Landschaft integriert
ist. Und zwar so, dass man die Gebäude aus der Entfernung
kaum wahrnimmt. In der Umgebung fallen
nur einige kleine grüne Oasen auf.
Von diesen Häusern aus hat man einen wunderschönen
Ausblick und kann sogar Lanzarote sehen.
Die Berge, die Dünen und das Meer bilden ein wunderschönes
Mosaik.
Los Risquetes ist ein in mindestens 3.000 m2
großes, in Grundstücke unterteiltes Gelände, auf
dem ursprünglich ein Hirte sein Herde gehütet hatte.
Nachdem er die notwendigen Genehmigungen
erhalten hatte, verkaufte er das Gelände, auf dem
eine Siedlung gebaut werden sollte.
Cristina hat uns folgendes erzählt…
“Ein jugoslawischer Architekt hatte vorgeschlagen,
Häuser zu bauen, die mit Vulkanstein verkleidet oder
mit dunklen Erdfarben bemalt werden sollten sollten,
damit sie zu den Bergen passen und die Harmonie
der Landschaft nicht zerstören. Es wurde immer
beabsichtigt, das ländliche Aussehen beizubehalten
und auf ökologische Weise zu leben. Deshalb akzep-
tierten die Anwohner, ausschließlich Sonnenenergie
zu verwenden und das Wasser, das sie bekommen,
weil sie einen Wasseranschluss in der Nähe des
Konsortiums benutzen können, zu recyclen und für
ihre Gärten zu nutzen.
Zuerst lief alles gut, aber mit der Zeit sahen die
Besitzer dieser Grundstücke, dass die Probleme
zurückkehrten und alles länger dauerte als geplant”.
Fast alle der Besitzer sind Ausländer, auch wenn
sie wie Cristina seit mehr als 25 Jahren auf der Insel
leben, haben sie das Gefühl, dass es ihnen deshalb
schwerer fällt, mit den Verwaltungen zu verhandeln,
um Vereinbarungen zu treffen, durch die die Zufahrten
zu ihren Häusern verbessert werden.
cristina, erzählen sie uns bitte etwas über die
Probleme, die sie in los risquetes haben.
Zuerst einmal möchte ich betonen, dass wir
bewiesen haben, dass es möglich ist, eine Siedlung
zu bauen, die gleichzeitig ökologisch und ästhetisch
ist und in die Umgebung passt, und dass diese Idee
auf der Insel verwirklicht werden konnte. Am Anfang
wurde das Projekt sehr gut von der Gemeinde aufgenommen,
aber nun werden wir nicht unterstützt.
Wir fordern, dass die Straße nach Villaverde asphaltiert
wird und sind auch bereit, uns an den Kosten zu
beteiligen. Zu der Tatsache, dass sie jeden Winter vom
Regen zerstört wird, kommen jetzt noch die Lastwagen,
die Material zum Bau der Autobahn Nord bringen.
Als wir begonnen haben, uns bei der Gemeinde von
La Oliva zu beschwerden, wurde uns versichert, dass
sie jeden Monat glätten und die Schäden beheben
lassen würden, die dadurch entstehen, dass die
Lastwagen nun ständig hier vorbeifahren, aber sie
haben ihre Versprechen nicht gehalten. Jedes Jahr
muss der Weg von einer Maschine wieder befahrbar
gemacht werden; es wäre wesentlich einfacher die
Straße ein für alle Mal zu asphaltieren.
Die Straße muss nicht breit sein, wir wären mit dem
Platz für ein Auto zufrieden, denn da es hier nicht
viele Anwohner gibt, könnten wir uns gegenseitig die
Vorfahrt lassen, falls die Straße zu schmal sein sollte,
wenn wir einander entgegenkommen.
Haben sie versucht, mit den zuständigen Verwaltungen
zusprechen?
Ja, natürlich, aber es ist praktisch unmöglich, mit
den Personen zu sprechen, die Entscheidungen
treffen können.
Das gleiche passiert uns mit der Baugenehmigung.
Wir wissen, dass das Grundstück der Siedlung nicht
vergrößert werden darf, aber es ist unlogisch, dass
Leute, die ihre Grundstücke auf dem genehmigten
und aufgeteilten Gelände gekauft haben, seit mehr
als fünf Jahren ihr Geld in Banken auf Fuerteventura
liegen haben und versuchen, eine Baugenehmigung
zu bekommen. Dies ist keine touristische Siedlung,
aber wir sind vom P.I.O.F (Plan für Raumordnung auf
Fuerteventura) betroffen.
wenn wir richtig informiert sind, dann wurde der
P.I.o.f. schon verabschiedet oder er ist kurz davor...
Ja, die vorigen Bürgermeister haben uns gesagt,
dass sie uns die Genehmigungen erteilen könnten,
sobald er verabschiedet ist. Aber zurzeit sagen sie
uns: „Wir wissen nichts”. Das ist sehr beunruhigend.
Die Menschen, die auf diese Genehmigung warten,
sind Rentner, die hier leben möchten und sich
ein Grundstück gekauft haben. Es ist logisch, dass
diese Leute durch ihre Rente ein Einnahmequelle für
die Insel sind. Sie sind nicht hierher gekommen, um
Arbeit zu suchen.

Wir haben uns an Ihre Zeitschrift gewand, weil wir
wissen, dass Sie viele Leser haben, und vielleicht
können wir uns so Gehör verschaffen. Außerdem
laden wir diejenigen ein, die den Ort besuchen und
unsere Lebensweise kennenlernen möchten.

Para solIcItar suBVencIones en
materIa de educacIón
El pasado mes de agosto el BOP publicaba las
bases reguladoras de las subvenciones 2010 destinadas
al alumnado y comunidad educativa del Municipio
de Antigua, destinadas a gastos de transporte
para estudiantes que cursen estudios fuera de este
término municipal y de la isla en materias no impartidas
en el CEO de Antigua, a gastos de material escolar
y libros de texto, así como también, destinadas a
facilitar la organización de actividades extraescolares
realizadas por AMPAS o centros educativos.
Estas subvenciones, incluyen también las ayudas
económicas destinadas a estudiantes que cursen estudios
homologados fuera de la isla de Fuerteventura,
o que se acojan a programas de movilidad a países
extranjeros, durante el curso académico 2009/2010.
Para optar a estas subvenciones es preciso estar
empadronado como mínimo desde hace un año en
el municipio de Antigua, encontrarse al corriente en
obligaciones tributarias o con la Seguridad Social,
y no tener pendiente de justificar otras subvenciones
concedidas por el Ayuntamiento. Además en
el caso de optar a las subvenciones de transporte
fuera del municipio, el estudiante deberá tener una
edad comprendida entre los 14 y 25 años de edad,
estar desempleado y cursar estudios en horario de
tarde-noche sobre materias que no se impartan en
el municipio.
El plazo de presentación de solicitud de subvenciones
para Transporte fuera de la isla o programas de
movilidad a países extranjeros durante el curso académico
2009/2010, será hasta el 10 de septiembre.
Desde el 9 de septiembre ya hasta el 9 de octubre
del 2010 podrán presentarse las solicitudes referentes
a la Adquisición de material escolar y libros de
texto, y Transporte fuera del municipio de Antigua
durante el curso académico 2010/2011.
Finalmente las solicitudes de subvenciones para
realizar Actividades extraescolares 2009/2010 o Adquirir
material durante el año 2010, se formalizarán
del 20 de septiembre al 20 de octubre.

Zu BeantraGen
Im August veröffentlichte das Amtsblatt der Provinz
die Grundlagen der Subventionen 2010 für Schüler
und für den Bildungsbereich der Gemeinde von Antigua.
Diese Subventionen sind für die Transportkosten
für Schüler bestimmt, die außerhalb der Gemeinde
oder außerhalb der Insel in Fächern unterrichtet
werden, die es am CEO in Antigua nicht gibt. Dazu
kommen die Kosten für Schulmaterial und Schulbücher
und für außerschulische Aktivitäten, welche von
AMPAS oder von Bildungseinrichtungen durchgeführt
werden.
Zu diesen Subventionen gehören auch finanzielle
Unterstützung für Studenten, die amtlich anerkannte
Studiengänge außerhalb der Insel Fuerteventura
studieren oder im Studienjahr 2009/2010 an Austauschprogrammen
im Ausland teilgenommen haben.
Um diese Subventionen beantragen zu können,
muss man mindestens seit einem Jahr in der Gemeinde
Antigua gemeldet und den Verpflichtungen
gegenüber der Steuer und der der Sozialversicherung
nachgekommen sein. Außerdem darf man nicht
andere noch zu begründende Subventionen der Gemeinde
beantragt haben. Ferner müssen die Schüler,
die Subventionen für die Fahrtkosten außerhalb der
Gemeinde beantragen, zwischen 14 und 25 Jahren
alt und nicht erwerbstätig sein und nachmittags oder
abends Unterricht in Fächern nehmen, die nicht in
der Gemeinde unterrichtet werden.
Die Frist, um die Subventionen für die Reisekosten
außerhalb der Insel oder für Austauschprogramme
im Ausland während des Schuljahres 2009/2010 zu
beantragen, läuft bis zum 10. September.
Vom 9. September bis zum 9. Oktober 2010 können
die Anträge für den Kauf von Schulmaterial,
Schulbücher und für Fahrtkosten außerhalb der
Gemeinde Antigua für das Schuljahr 2010/2011
beantragt werden.
Die Subventionen für außerschulische Aktivitäten
2009/2010 und den Erwerb von Material im Jahr
2010 können vom 20. September bis zum 20. Oktober
beantragt werden.

en Zonas rurales
En el marco de actuación en mejora y ampliación
de infraestructuras que el Ayuntamiento de Antigua
viene realizando en diferentes localidades del municipio,
se ha obtenido la aprobación de cuatro nuevos
proyectos en materia de electrificación, tres de los
cuales, subvencionados en un 80 por ciento por el
Plan de Electrificación Integral Canaria, Pelican.
En concreto, se amplía la red eléctrica de las viviendas
en la zona de Maninubre con una inversión
de 128.386,55 euros, y de las viviendas de Las Bermejas
en Triquivijate, destinando 89.450,25 euros,
además se procederá este mismo año, al soterramiento
de la línea de distribución de 20 kilowatios y la
electrificación y sectorización en la zona del Durazno
con una inversión de 250.769,36 euros.
Entre los próximos proyectos a ejecutar, el Ayuntamiento
tiene previsto mejorar y ampliar la red
eléctrica en la zona de viviendas del mercado municipal
de Antigua, proyecto ya aprobado y que ocupa
un lugar preferencial para ser subvencionado con
fondos Pelican.

In rural areas
Within the initiative of infrastructures’ improvement
and extension that Antigua’s Ayuntamiento has been
developing in various areas of the Municipality, four
new projects have been approved regarding electricity
network, of which three are financed at 80 % by the
Integral Canaria Plan of Electrification, Pelican.
Concretely, the electric network is being extended
in the area of Maninubre representing an investment
of 128.386,55 Euros and in the area of Las Bermejas

obtiene fondos económicos del Estado y el Gobierno
de Canarias destinados a la construcción este mismo
año de una Escuela Pública Infantil.
La Escuela Pública Infantil de Antigua deberá estar
construida antes de que finalice este año.
La parcela destinada a la construcción de la Escuela
Infantil de Primaria, se ubica en la Avenida de la
Constitución, esquina con la Calle El Deporte. Frente
a la Escuela se encontraría el CEO de Antigua, en su
trasera la Piscina Municipal, y en su lateral izquierdo
las instalaciones del Pabellón Municipal de Deportes.

A year ago the Ayuntamiento made 2.040,40 square
metres of public land available to the Canarian

best possible outcome has been achieved with the
decision from the Education, Universities, Culture
and Sports Council to invest 480.809,54 Euros. The
project will be put out for tender for 13 days starting
from 23 August until 2 September.
In the article published in the BOC number
155/20973 Antigua is the only area of Fuerteventura
and in the whole province of Las Palmas to obtain
public funds from the Canarian State and Government
for the construction of a Public Infant School this year.
This school will have to be completed before the
end of the year.
The plot destined to the construction of the school
is situated in Avenida de la Constitución, at the corner
of Calle El Deporte. The CEO of Antigua will be situated
in front of the school, the Municipal swimming pool
behind it, and on its left the Municipal Sports Hall.

El Ayuntamiento de Antigua, a través de la Concejalía
de Turismo organiza la Fiesta Infantil de la Playa
todos los viernes del verano, ofreciendo un amplio
programa de actividades en las playas de El Castillo
y La Guirra.
Torneos deportivos de fútbol, vóley playa, petanca,
carreras, juegos, gincanas, castillos hinchables,
casetas de la espuma, talleres de pintura, cometas,
o maquillaje, son algunas de las actividades que
disfrutan más de cien niños y niñas que se dan cita
cada viernes en las Fiestas Infantiles de la Playa.
La implicación de los animadores de los recintos
hoteleros, junto a los técnicos del Ayuntamiento de
Antigua, y el grupo de animación Jiribilla hacen posible
el buen funcionamiento y desarrollo de estas
Fiestas Infantiles de la Playa.
En la organización de las Fiestas de la Playa, colaboran
con el Ayuntamiento de Antigua, la Consejería
de Turismo del Cabildo insular de Fuerteventura, Barceló
Hotels Resorts, los Hoteles Elba, y la Asociación
de Comerciantes ACOCA.

Antigua’s Ayuntamiento with the Tourism Council
have organised Children’s Beach Parties every Friday

during the summer, offering a wide programme of
activities on the beaches of El Castillo and La Guirra.
Sports’ tournaments of football, beach volley,
petanque, races, games, inflated castles, foam structures,
workshops (painting, kite or face-painting) are
some of the activities that over one hundred children
enjoy every Friday during the Children’s Beach Parties.
Animators from the hotel complexes joined in with
Antigua’s Ayuntamiento’s technicians as well as the
animation group called “Jiribilla” in order to make this
initiative possible and ensure the smooth running of
those Children’s Beach Parties.
The Beach Parties organisation consists of
Antigua’s Ayuntamiento, Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s
Tourism Council, Barceló Hotels Resorts, Elba Hotel
and the ACOCA Commerce Association.
The Children’s Beach Parties in Caleta de Fuste are
a perfect combination of sports, music and entertainment
on the sandy beach, by the sea, in optimal
conditions for safety, cleanliness and services.

Das Amt für Tourismus der Gemeinde von Antigua
organisiert im Sommer an allen Freitagen Kinderstrandfeste
mit zahlreichen Aktivitäten, die an den
Stränden von El Castillo und La Guirra stattfinden.
Zu den Aktivitäten, an denen die Jungen und
Mädchen jeden Freitag bei dem Strandkinderfest
teilnehmen können, gehören Fußball, Strandvolleyball,
Boccia, Rennen, Spiele, Gymkhana, aufblasbare
Schlösser, Mal- und Schminkkurse und Papierdrachen.
Neben dem Fachpersonal der Gemeinde von Antigua
sind auch Animateure der Hotelanlagen und die
Gruppe Jiribilla beteiligt. Alle tragen zum guten Ablauf
der Kinderstrandfeste bei.
An der Organisation der Strandfeste sind die Gemeinde
von Antigua, das Amt für Tourismus des Cabildo
von Fuerteventura, Barceló Hotels Resorts, die
Elba-Hotels und der Händlerverband ACOCA beteiligt.
Bei den Kinderfesten an den Stränden von Caleta
de Fuste werden Sport, Musik und Vergnügen
am Strand auf perfekte Weise kombiniert. Was die
Sicherheit, die Sauberkeit und die Toiletten betrifft,
sind die Bedingungen einwandfrei.

Fuerteventura’s Cabildo is collaborating with
the Culture and Historic Heritage Council, Antigua
Ayuntamiento and Antigua’s Casino Association for
the project of refurbishment and remodelling of the
congress centre in order to create dressing rooms for
the actors, new access ways to the scene, storage
room, etc.
The Culture and Historical Heritage Council regularly
collaborates with Antigua’s Casino for theatre
and musical events and this initiative aims at ensuring
the longevity of this collaboration where the Casino
provides the promises free of charge in return for
equipment.

El Ayuntamiento ha instalado un nuevo Parque
Infantil en Agua de Bueyes que consta de dos toboganes,
pasarelas de cuerdas, y torreta de juegos y
equilibrios sobre un suelo acolchado con baldosa
porosa de caucho antideslizante, especialmente
preparada para evitar golpes o raspaduras a los niños
y niñas usuarios.
El Parque Infantil se ubica junto a la Plaza de Agua
de Bueyes, en un emplazamiento protegido del viento.
Agua de Bueyes es una localidad prioritaria para el
Ayuntamiento de Antigua, y junto a ésta se irán incorporando
nuevas infraestructuras, y mejoras en su
pavimentación, canalización y alumbrado que facilite
la vida a los vecinos residentes en esta localidad.
También en Antigua se encuentra un Parque Infantil
en un recinto protegido y amplio, que proporciona
un espacio de juego a los numerosos niños y niñas
que acompañados de sus familiares, visitan por las
tardes o el fin de semana esta instalación municipal.

The Children’s Play Park is situated close to Plaza
de Agua de Bueyes in an area sheltered from the
wind. Aguas de Bueyes is a priority area for the Ayuntamiento
of Antigua, and in addition to this initiative,
new infrastructures will also be created by improving
pavements, piping and street lighting which will bring
more quality of life to residents.
There is also a Children’s Play Park in Antigua in a
protected and wide area that provides a playing area
to many children who visit this area with their families
in the evenings or at the weekends.

Die Gemeinde hat einen neuen Kinderspielplatz
in Agua de Bueyes eingerichtet. Dort gibt es zwei
Rutschen, einen Spielturm und Gleichgewichtsspiele
auf einem gepolsterten Boden aus rutschfestem
Kautschuk, der extra so bearbeitet wurde, dass sich
die Jungen und Mädchen, die dort spielen, nicht weh
tun können.
Der Kinderspielplatz befindet sich an einer windgeschützten
Stelle am Platz von Agua de Bueyes. Agua
de Bueyes ist ein vorrangiger Ort für Antigua. Neben
den vorher genannten Arbeiten bekommt dieser
Ort nach und nach neue Infrastrukturen. Außerdem
werden die Asphaltierung, die Kanalisierung und die
Beleuchtung verbessert, um den Ortsansässigen das
Leben zu erleichtern.
In Antigua gibt es auch einen Kinderspielplatz auf
einem großen geschützten Gelände. Dort können
zahlreiche Jungen und Mädchen in Begleitung ihrer
Verwandten spielen, die nachmittags oder am Wochenende
diese öffentliche Einrichtung benutzen.

Programa de Integración Sociocultural de Inmigrantes
en el municipio, ofreciendo entre las distintas actividades
la organización de una Charla informativa
sobre la Ley de Extranjería que se ofreció recientemente
con una destacada asistencia que superó las
40 personas.
Entre los asistentes a la charla destacaba la presencia
de representantes de asociaciones marroquíes,
mauritana, senegalesa, y latinoamericanos, que
participaron con numerosas preguntas y opiniones
sobre la nueva Ley de Extranjería.
Más de 30 comunidades de diferente origen y
nacionalidad conviven en el municipio de Antigua,
que registra una población superior a los 10.000
residentes de los que más de 4.000 personas son
nacidas en el extranjero.

In July, the Ayuntamiento of Antigua started a Programme
of Socio-cultural Integration for Immigrants
of the Municipality, offering various activities such
as an Information Discussion about the Immigration
Law where over 40 people participated.
The assistance consisted of representatives from
Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and South America
who participated with many questions and opinions
about this new Immigration Law.
Over 30 different communities of different origins
and nationality are cohabitating in the Municipality
of Antigua, where the population consists of over
10.000 residents of which 4.000 people from foreign
countries.

El Ayuntamiento desde finales de julio y principios
de agosto renueva y amplía la señalización vial de
las calles principales del casco de Antigua, remarcando
la pintura de líneas continuas y discontinuas,
stops, pasos de peatones, zonas de aparcamiento,
renovando aquellas señales verticales deterioradas,
y ampliando el número de hitos que señalizan el
tráfico vial.

informados en el Punto de Información Turística
recientemente abierto en la Plaza, y a la posibilidad
de visitar el Museo del Queso, se añade un nuevo
atractivo principal con la apertura continuada por
las mañanas de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La
Antigua.

tHe streets of antIGua
Since the end of June and beginning of August the
Ayuntamiento has been changing and adding road
signs in Antigua by re-drawing the lines painted on the
roads, zebra crossings, parking lines and changing a
few vertical signs that were damaged and multiplying
the number of milestones.
Antigua is renewing its image by providing more
and more infrastructures and leisure space to residents,
from Children’s Play Parks, an expected new
Skating Ground close to the Municipal Sports’ Hall
which is almost completed, a renovated Square and
the expected opening of the Municipal Youth Centre.
Tourists who visit Antigua also have more and more
on offer which is advertised at the Tourist Information
Point recently opened on the square, as well as the
possibility to visit the Cheese Museum and the Church
of Nuestra Señora de La Antigua that will remain open
every morning.

Die Gemeinde erneuert und erweitert seit Ende
Juli und Anfang August die Verkehrsschilder der
wichtigsten Straßen der Innenstadt von Antigua. Die
Farbe der durchgezogenen und gestrichelten Linien,
der Fußgängerübergänge und der Parkplätze wird
erneuert, beschädigte vertikale Schilder werden ersetzt,
und es werden mehr Meilensteine aufgestellt.
Der Ort Antigua erneuert sein Image, indem er den
Anwohnern ständig mehr Infrastrukturen und Zonen,
in denen man sich ausruhen kann, bietet. Der Platz
wurde ganz und gar neu gestaltet. Zu dem Kinderspielplatz
und einer Skate-Piste neben der Turnhalle
kommt auch noch das neue Jugendzentrum.
Auch das Angebot für die Touristen, die Antigua
besuchen, wird ständig erweitert. Darüber können
die Besucher sich in dem neuen Tourismusbüro informieren,
das kürzlich auf dem Platz eröffnet wurde.
Außerdem können sie das Käsemuseum besuchen.
Eine weitere interessante Neuheit ist, dass die Kirche
Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de La Antigua nun den
ganzen Vormittag geöffnet ist.

Recuperar edificios antiguos en una isla sembrada
de construcciones casi en ruina implica una labor de
aprecio y reconocimiento del valor del patrimonio histórico
municipal para que no se pierda en la memoria
y llegue a generaciones posteriores. Este es el caso de
la Casa del Coronel, que no de Los Coroneles, situada
frente a la piscina municipal, en el centro de La Oliva.
Así, la Casa del Coronel se reinventará a sí misma
y de domicilio particular pasará a ser un centro multidisciplinar
de cultura y arte para el municipio de La
Oliva a final de año, según apuntan las previsiones,
ya que hasta ahora se ha finalizado el 40 por ciento
de los trabajos.

Renovating old buildings on an island that has
buildings almost in ruins spread all over the territory
implies appreciation of the municipal historical heritage
value so that it is not forgotten and gets passed on
to the next generations. This is the case for Casa del
Coronel, not de Los Coroneles, situated in front of the
municipal swimming pool in La Oliva’s town centre.
Therefore, Casa del Coronel has been reinvented
and from a home it will now become a cultural and
art multipurpose centre for La Oliva’s municipality
from the end of this year onwards according to the
expected completion dates as 40% of the renovation
work has now been completed.

Das ist der Fall der Casa del Coronel, die sich vor dem
öffentlichen Schwimmbad in La Oliva befindet.
Die Casa del Coronel wird erneuert: aus einem Privathaus
wird Ende des Jahres ein multidisziplinäres
Kunst- und Kulturzentrum für die Gemeinde von La
Oliva. Dies ist vorgesehen, und bis jetzt sind 40 % der
Arbeiten abgeschlossen worden.

El Ayuntamiento desplegó desde el pasado, 11
de agosto, un zafarrancho de limpieza en el pueblo
de Corralejo ante la afluencia masiva de turistas,
en concreto la ocupación turística ronda el 90% en
agosto, lo que ha supuesto un aumento de basura
considerable.

Ante la llegada masiva de turismo en Corralejo, la
plantilla municipal de operarios de limpieza estuvo
dedicada por unos días a las labores de ornato, limpieza
y embellecimiento del pueblo, sin prejuicio del
servicio para otros enclaves del municipio.
Se movilizó a todo el personal de limpieza del pueblo
para realizar un zafarrancho de limpieza tanto en
Corralejo pueblo como en Corralejo playa.
Corralejo mantiene una población estable sobre
unos 11.000 vecinos durante todo el año, pero en
especial en los meses de verano se desborda la
ocupación turística, por lo que desde la Corporación
se hacen verdaderos esfuerzos para mantener los
servicios municipales y, sobre todo, la limpieza viaria
y de playas.
En el pueblo de Corralejo, el personal en tareas
limpieza asciende a 30 personas, a las que hay que
añadir dos barredoras. Este equipo se dedica de forma
permanente y diaria a las tareas de limpieza, pero
en esos días se incrementó mediante un convenio
con el Gobierno de Canarias con 15 personas más
para la limpieza viaria y de jardines.
Para la recogida de basura y enseres hay que llamar
previamente a la Tenencia de Alcaldía para que
efectúe el servicio.

The Ayuntamiento has launched since 11th August
a general clean in Corralejo in consideration of the
massive affluence of tourists, that actually represented
90% occupancy in August, and which created a
considerable increase of waste.
The municipal team of cleaning technicians was
therefore dedicated for a few days to tidying up, cleaning
and embellishing the village, without interfering
with the service to other areas of the municipality.
The entire team of cleaning technicians was mobilised
for the general clean of the village of Corralejo
as well as its beaches.
Corralejo’s population represents 11.000 residents
all year round, but during summer months the tourist
occupation rises so much that the corporation has to
make extreme efforts to maintain municipal services
and especially to keep streets and beaches clean.
There are 30 cleaning technicians for the town of
Corralejo and two road sweeping machines. This team
is permanently and daily dedicated to cleaning but
for those few days it was agreed with the Canarian
Government to increase the team with another 15
people to clean streets and gardens.
For the removal of waste and large belongings one
must call the Town Hall first so that this service can
be organised.

Am 11. August führte die Gemeinde in Corralejo
eine Großreinigung durch, da es wegen den zahlreichen
Touristen wesentlich mehr Müll gab als sonst.
Im August sind ungefähr 90% der Unterkünfte des
Ortes belegt.
Deshalb war das Reinigungspersonal der Gemeinde
in Corralejo einige Tage lang damit beschäftigt, den
Ort zu schmücken, zu reinigen und zu verschönern,

ohne dass dadurch der Dienst in anderen Teilen der
Gemeinde vernachlässigt worden wäre.
Das gesamte Reinigungspersonal des Ortes wurde
mobilisiert, um die Großreinigung sowohl im Corralejo
als auch am Strand durchzuführen.
Corralejo hat ungefähr 11.000 Ortsansässige,
aber besonders in den Sommermonaten ist dieser
Ort von Touristen überfüllt, deshalb bemüht sich die
Gemeinde die die öffentlichen Leistungen und vor
allem die Sauberkeit der Strände zu gewährleisten.
In dem Ort Corralejo besteht das Reinigungspersonal
aus 30 Personen. Dazu kommen noch zwei
Kehrmaschinen. Diese Mannschaft ist tagtäglich für
die Reinigungsarbeiten zuständig, aber in diesen Tagen
wurden durch ein Abkommen mit der Regierung
der Kanaren 15 weitere Personen für die Reinigung
der Straßen und der Gärten beschäftigt.
Um Müll und andere Sachen abholen zu lassen,
muss man vorher das Bürgermeisteramt anrufen und
diese Leistung beantragen.

Temple Arco Club: Deporte para todos
FMHOY - Fuerteventura
Hace unos siete años un grupo de amigos, aficionados
al tiro con arco, empezaron a buscar lugares
adecuados para realizar esta actividad. Recabaron la
ayuda de algunos aficionados y empezaron a tirar en
una nave del polígono de La Hondura pero por falta
de seguridad e higiene decidieron pedir ayuda a las
instituciones públicas, para ello se constituyeron en
asociación deportiva que culminó en la fundación del
Temple Arco Club el 14 de octubre de 2004. Desde
entonces los amigos de tiro con arco han visto crecer
sus filas hasta llegar a participar en la liga Canaria
con la que llegaron los primeros podios y aunque esta
liga finalizó, el Temple Arco Club sigue participando,
como parte integrante de la Asociación Canaria de
Tiro con Arco, ininterrumpidamente en la legítima
heredera liga ATIRCA.
En la actualidad el Temple Arco Club organiza y
desarrolla actividades deportivas recreativas entre
las que destaca el Torneo de Puerto del Rosario cada
octubre durante las fiestas y el Gran Premio Atlántico
de enero en el Polideportivo Insular. Varias veces al
año los arqueros majoreros se desplazan a la vecina
isla de Lanzarote para participar en el Recorrido de
barranco 3D, que consiste en desplazarse por el barranco
tirando a dianas tridimensionales de animales
para compartir esa experiencia con el hermano club
La Flecha de Lanzarote, ya que ellos se desplazan a
menudo para asistir a las tiradas de la Liga ATIRCA.
Desde el año pasado el Temple Arco Club, mediante
sus monitores, dirige la Escuela Municipal de Tiro
con Arco en el estadio de Los Pozos para niños de
7 a 15 años.
El pasado mes de abril el club organizó el Día de
Puertas Abiertas en el Albergue de Pozo Negro, en
colaboración con el Cabildo, los Ayuntamientos de
Puerto y Antigua, ATIRCA y la Cruz Roja, donde cualquiera
ha podido iniciarse en este deporte peculiar.
Durante el mes de agosto los monitores y socios del
club cooperaron de nuevo con el Albergue de Pozo
Negro en los campamentos de verano para ampliar
la variedad de actividades para los niños asistentes.
El Temple Arco Club se rige por el lema ya que sus socios son tanto hombres
como mujeres, jóvenes (la más joven es la socia
Tigana de 2 años), mayores (Martin de 76 años) y
de cualquier nacionalidad. También personas con
discapacidad o con problemas de salud (epilepsia o
problemas respiratorios, entre otros) pueden practicar
esta actividad recreativa.
En el próximo mes de octubre el club tiene previsto
organizar, aparte del Torneo de Puerto del Rosario,
una exposición sobre el tiro con arco en el centro de
Juan Ismael para acercar más esta actividad a los
interesados. ¡Todos están invitados!
TEMPLE ARCO CLUB: SPORTS FOR EVERYONE
Seven years ago, a group of friends, archery enthusiasts,
started looking for adequate sites for this
activity. They asked for help from another few archery
enthusiasts and started practising in an industrial
unit of La Hondura but it was lacking in safety and
hygiene and they decided to request help from public
institutions; in order to do so they created a sports’
association, which became the “Temple Arco Club”
foundation on 14th October 2004.
Since then archery enthusiasts have seen their
numbers increase to the point of participating in the
Canarian league where they finished on the highest
steps of the podium and although the league is now
finished, Temple Arco Club keeps participating within
the Canarian Archery Association in the ATIRCA league.
Currently Temple Arco Club is organising and developing
recreational sports’ activities of which Puerto
el Rosario’s Tournament every October during the
fairs and the Gran Premio Atlántico in January in
the Island’s Multi-sports complex. A few times per
year Archers from Fuerteventura travel to the neighbouring
island of Lanzarote to participate in the “3D
Barranco Race”, which consists of travelling through
the barrancos while shooting on tri-dimensional animal
targets, in order to share this experience with

the club “La Flecha de Lanzarote”, who often come
over themselves to participate in the ATIRCA league.
Since last year, and thanks to its coaches, Temple
Arco Club manages the Municipal Archery School on
Los Pozos stadium for children aged between 7 and
15 years old.
Last April, the club organised an open day in the
Hostel of Pozo Negro in collaboration with the Cabildo,
the Ayuntamientos of Puerto del Rosario and Antigua,
ATIRCA and the Red Cross when anyone could come
an discover this sport. During the month of August,
coaches and members of the Club cooperated again
with the Hostel of Pozo Negro in the summer camps in
order to increase the variety of activities for children.
Temple Arco Club’s slogan is “Sports for everyone”
as its members consists of men, women, children
(the youngest member is Tigana aged 2), elders (the
eldest is Martin aged 76) of any nationality. People
with reduced mobility or with health problems (epilepsy
or respiratory problems) can also practise this
recreational activity.
Next October the club will organise, apart from
Puerto del Rosario’s tournament, an exhibition about
archery in the Juan Ismael centre in order to bring this
activity closer to those interested. Everyone is invited!
