Table 1 shows the result of the factor analysis of the adaptation scales,
including Alfa Cronbach coefficient, general and of each factor, plus
the measure of sample adequacy KMO of 0,875, which are quite acceptable
and confirm the global internal consistency of the scale. When
analysing the reliability of each factor, we find that in the three factors
the obtained coefficients are acceptable.
From the results of the factorial analysis, the composition of significant
factorial charges for each factor was studied. In order to do that the
variables were classified according to their factorial charge and a name
was given to each factor according to the content of the said charges. As
is shown in Table 1, the 14 variables are grouped into three components
or factors which are similar to the Black et al. (1991) model of General,
Social and Job Adaptation of the expatriate. The factorial charges of
each variable are higher than 0.50, except for the variable «health and
medical services». Therefore, hypothesis 1 is accepted and it is concluded
that the adaptation of the expatriate to the international assignment is
a multidimensional construct that includes three dimensions: general, social
and job adaptation.
Additionally, as is shown in Table 1, we can also point out that the
first factor called «General Adaptation» was the one that more clearly
showed the variance 42.25%. In this factor, 8 variables are grouped, including
the two variables added to the questionnaire. The second factor
called «Social Adaptation» only explains 11.18% of the total variance.
