LOM <strong>Moulding</strong><br />
When the first LOM facility, which included 182 moulding<br />
machines in the <strong>Moulding</strong> Department, was completed in<br />
2009, it was expected that it would meet The LEGO Group’s<br />
capacity requirements for some years to come. However, sales<br />
at The LEGO Group increased so quickly that there was soon<br />
talk about expanding. Another building was available next to<br />
the first facility, in another industrial park. Based on this building,<br />
a new project was started to create a new moulding facility.<br />
At the end of 2009, preparations started and the project was<br />
approved by The LEGO Group Board of Directors in May 2010.<br />
On April 1st, 2011, the first of the moulding machines were<br />
commissioned in what is now called Module 2. In the period from<br />
April to the end of June, 336 new moulding machines were installed<br />
in Modules 1 and 2, along with various systems for handling raw<br />
materials, storage, cleaning equipment, etc. The move from the<br />
existing moulding facility with associated workshops and other<br />
supporting functions started in June 2011 and was completed in<br />
September 2011. The factory was officially opened on September<br />
30th, 2011, as originally planned in June 2010.<br />
From May to July, a project group was established with<br />
representatives from Facility, Engineering and Production.<br />
Construction work started on July 14th, 2010 and the first<br />
phase of the building was ready for infrastructural fitting in<br />
January 2011. From January to September 2011, construction<br />
and fitting work continued in parallel. After only 14 months of<br />
work, construction ended in September 2011.<br />

Instalaciones<br />
de moldeo de LOM<br />
Tras la inauguración en 2009 de las primeras instalaciones de LOM,<br />
cuyo departamento de moldeo estaba formado por 182 máquinas<br />
de moldeo, todos esperábamos que su capacidad fuese suficiente<br />
como para satisfacer los requisitos de The LEGO Group durante<br />
varios años. Sin embargo, las ventas de The LEGO Group crecieron<br />
con tal rapidez que no pasó mucho tiempo hasta que fue necesario<br />
comenzar a hablar acerca de una expansión. Además del edificio<br />
en el que implantamos las primeras instalaciones, había otro<br />
disponible en otro polígono industrial que sería finalmente elegido<br />
como base de un nuevo proyecto destinado a la construcción de<br />
nuevas instalaciones de moldeo. Los preparativos dieron comienzo<br />
a finales de 2009 y el proyecto fue aprobado por la junta directiva<br />
de The LEGO Group en mayo de 2010.<br />

instalaron 336 nuevas máquinas de moldeo en los Módulos 1 y 2,<br />
Los días que transcurrieron entre mayo y julio sirvieron para<br />
establecer un grupo dedicado al proyecto que contaría<br />
con representantes de los departamentos de instalaciones,<br />
ingeniería y producción. Las obras comenzaron el 14 de julio<br />
de 2010 y la primera etapa del edificio ya estaba lista para la<br />

acompañadas de diferentes sistemas destinados a la manipulación<br />
de materias primas, el almacenamiento, la limpieza, etc. La<br />
mudanza desde las antiguas instalaciones de moldeo, en la que<br />
participaron los talleres asociados y demás funciones de apoyo,<br />
dio comienzo en junio de 2011 y finalizó en septiembre del mismo<br />
año. La fábrica abrió sus puertas oficialmente el 30 de septiembre<br />
de 2011, tal y como se había previsto originalmente en junio de 2010.<br />
