This course offers a comprehensive approach on the use<br />
and design of constructivist strategies in ELT (English<br />
Language Teaching). Students have the opportunity to<br />
practice and apply traditional strategies as well as updated<br />
ones. Students integrate the use of these strategies in<br />
their professional practicum so that they can identify,<br />
analyze, apply, and evaluate different pedagogical and<br />
constructivist strategies in their English classes.<br />

The primary purpose of this course is to help students<br />
gain confidence and expertise as classroom instructors.<br />
This goal will be accomplished in several ways: students<br />
will acquire knowledge about teaching approaches and<br />
methods by reading the required texts, supplemented by<br />
articles on SLA (Second Language Acquisition); develop<br />
skills in critical analysis of pedagogical approaches; learn<br />
through analysis and practice how to design activities for<br />
teaching and testing, including the use of multimedia and<br />
the Internet; get feedback on their own teaching from a<br />
class observation by the professor; sharpen observation<br />
skills through self-analysis of videotaped classes and<br />
analyses of the classes of others; and reflect on their own<br />
teaching philosophy and practices by preparing a teaching<br />
portfolio that contains artifacts related to teaching and<br />
their self-reflections.<br />

Este curso ofrece al futuro Máster en la Enseñanza<br />
del Inglés un tratamiento comprensivo de la sintaxis<br />
del idioma inglés. Incluye un repaso profundo de las<br />
estructuras gramaticales del inglés y del análisis sintáctico<br />
de las estas. Explora nociones del papel de la gramática<br />
en el aprendizaje del idioma inglés. Asimismo, el curso<br />
ofrece un espacio para fortalecer el conocimiento sobre<br />
el idioma inglés a partir de sus estructuras por parte<br />
de los estudiantes para su posterior aplicación en la<br />
práctica pedagógica. El estudiante tendrá 4 horas de clase<br />
presencial y deberá dedicar 8 horas al estudio individual<br />
fuera de clase cada semana.<br />

The course provides an overview of the theory and practice<br />
of writing in a second language. It examines distinctions<br />
between first and second language writing and major<br />
issues and dilemmas within the field, including composing<br />
processes, error correction and feedback, contrastive<br />
rhetoric, culture, course design, and plagiarism.<br />
