ABSTRACT
Suicide’s theory of regulation is incomplete owing to the underdevelopment of the fatalist
suicide type. It is here proposed a new reading of Suicide so as to reconstruct fatalism and purify
anomie as general concepts. The outcome is the arising of a systematic and rigorous theory that
allows us to distinguish four types of pathological regulation: acute fatalism, chronic fatalism,
acute anomie and chronic anomie. The proposed reconceptualization is set up against other
interpretations wich do not solve Suicide’s reading problems.
