BEST COMMUNICATOR AWARD 2008
The Best Communicator Award presented at the trade
event held in Verona is designed to emphasise the importance
of design when displaying stone. It aims to highlight
both marble and natural stone’s communicative power and
promote their use in construction. Selection is guided by the
premise that these materials are particularly effective at articulating
the dialogue between surface and volume.
Marmomacc’s organisers believe that an original and
creatively designed stand generate added value for exhibitors.
As a result, a stand becomes an effective means of
communicating a company’s vision. At the last edition of
Marmomacc, the Best Communicator Award 2008 was won
by the stands created by Il Casone SPA (Marble and Natural
Stone) and Piba Marmi SRL (Marble).
(FDP). Por provincias, las empresas procedían
de: Alicante, Almería, Barcelona, Burgos,
Castellón, León, Lérida, Murcia, Pontevedra,
areas to explore creative new ways of employing this material. Although marble is conventionally
associated with cladding for walls and floors, companies and designers presented
a series of innovations designed to widen its use and application.
The Italian trade fair was characterised by its wide range of parallel events. For example,
participating companies held meetings with designers to raise awareness about their
projects, inviting journalists to participate in discussions about them.
As has been the case at previous editions, the trade show held in Verona also provided
a selection of training and education programmes addressing stone’s particular requirements
and advantages. One of these events was a forum at which lecturers from the
universities participating in the education programme shared the benefits of their experience
with stone. Another noteworthy aspect of the show was the emphasis placed on
alpine architecture’s role as a link between traditional use of materials and latest-generation
environmentally friendly design. Finally, a series of well-attended itinerant exhibitions
were set up throughout the Marmomacc site.
SPANISH PARTICIPATION
For the 14th year, the ICEX (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior – Spanish Institute
for Foreign Trade) supported 29 Spanish natural stone sector companies’ participation in
the show. These firms travelled to the trade fair as a group co-ordinated by the FDP (Federación
Española de la Piedra Natural – Spanish Natural Stone Federation).
