INTRODUCCIÓN
INTRODUCTION
Este libro es el reflejo de sueños, pensamientos y reflexiones que
durante estos últimos años se han hecho realidad. Esta realidad es
STUA, una empresa familiar, en la que hacemos muebles con la ilusión
de estar aportando algo más que sólo muebles.
Son los muebles, en gran parte, los que crean nuestro entorno y con
su diseño podemos influir en el ambiente que hay a nuestro alrededor.
Gracias a ellos podemos lograr atmósferas más sosegadas, que nos
transmiten serenidad.
En STUA nos gustan las cosas sencillas, tranquilas e intemporales, y
así es la colección de mobiliario que hemos desarrollado durante los
últimos años.
Pensamos que la cultura de las cosas bien hechas se debe aplicar a todo
lo que nos rodea: la arquitectura, el arte, el diseño, la vida y por
supuesto a los muebles. Por eso STUA produce sus muebles en España
con materias primas 100% europeas, cuidando al máximo el medio
ambiente.
En este libro les proponemos ideas y proyectos que nos gustan, nuestra
manera de hacer muebles, el aire que se respira en las imágenes es el
que a nosotros nos gusta respirar.
Les mostraremos la obra de grandes arquitectos y artístas con los que
hemos tenido la oportunidad de colaborar en estos años.
Hablaremos poco, dejaremos que las imágenes hablen por nosotros.
This book is the product of many years of thinking and
dreaming. The realisation of those dreams is a company called
STUA, a family company whose aim is to create fine furniture
which embodies the best quality of design.
Our daily lives are constantly affected by the environment in which
we live and work. Good design can make that environment more
pleasant and attractive, making our daily lives easier.
STUA's style is clean, simple and timeless. We believe that this
level of quality should apply to all aspects of life: architecture, art,
furniture, living in general.
We create our design and we produce furniture in Spain, with
100% european materials and a total care for the enviroment in
which we live.
In this book we would like to show you examples of collaborations
with architects and artists, projects which we are very proud to
have been associated with.
Above all, the image to follow tell our story for us.

together with the Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
Deseo agradecer al jurado y a todos los que hacen posible este premio
la concesión a STUA de este importante galardón. Al fundar STUA hace
25 años, el diseño apenas estaba presente en nuestras vidas. Pero una
idea, la de hacer muebles que mejoraran nuestra manera de vivir ha
sido la que me ha guiado durante estos años.
El diseño ha sido la herramienta con la que hemos logrado crear una
colección con una personalidad reconocida en todo el mundo. El diseño
de STUA está basado en tres ideas:
- la sencillez de las formas
- la intemporalidad, para que los muebles nos acompañen durante años
- y el cuidado con esmero de los pequeños detalles.
Hacemos pocos muebles, con una gran carga de originalidad. Pero en
esta aldea global en la que nos encontramos no siempre se respetan
las ideas y la originalidad, de forma que cada vez más nos encontramos
con imitadores y a veces incluso con copiadores.
Tenemos que hacer frente a una lucha permanente y desigual, con
competidores que no juegan con las mismas reglas de juego. Por eso
agradecemos especialmente que se reconozca el trabajo que realizamos
en STUA. Es agradable ver que la originalidad por la que luchamos
es reconocida en nuestra tierra.
Pero en este día tan importante para nosotros tengo que lamentar la
situación tan difícil en la que se encuentra la economía occidental.
Parece que hemos olvidado los principios que han dinamizado la economía
hasta ahora. La transformación de la materia es la que crea
riqueza, es la que dinamiza el país. Actualmente mucha empresas han
abandonado estas actividades deslocalizando la producción y esto nos
empobrece. No se trata de criticar la globalización si no la deslocalización.
Las administraciones deberían considerar como reconducir esta
situación.
Desde STUA pedimos una reflexión para que retomemos todas esas
actividades que dan valor añadido, que crean riqueza. Para que España
también sea un país productor de bienes, no solo de servicios. Por
supuesto los consumidores, que somos todos, tenemos en nuestra
mano una parte importante de la solución ya que al comprar estamos
decidiendo donde queremos crear puestos de trabajo. Se trata de ser
responsables tanto a la hora de producir como a la de consumir.
El buen diseño, la innovación, deben ser la bandera de la diferenciación
y originalidad de nuestros productos. Pero estos diseños solo crearán
riqueza y darán trabajo a nuestra gente si los producimos aquí, en
España.
En STUA hemos aplicado esta filosofía de trabajo desde el comienzo.
Hacemos nuestros muebles aquí, con componentes europeos. Hoy,
más que nunca, creemos que solo el trabajo firme y constante en esta
dirección dará sus frutos. En STUA vamos a continuar con esta cultura,
con más y mejores muebles, más atractivos, funcionales, ecológicos,
en resumen, con más diseño.
Por último quiero recordar a todos los compañeros que forman parte
de STUA. Son personas que llevan muchos años trabajando con nosotros
a los que agradezco su esfuerzo y esmero. A todos ellos, a mi
familia: Marina, Jon y Elen y a todos los que nos han ayudado a lograr
este Premio, muchas gracias.

First and foremost, I would like to thank the jury and all those who
made it possible for STUA to be awarded this important Prize. When
STUA was established twenty-five years ago, design was hardly present
in our lives. However, the idea of making furniture that can improve
the way we live has guided me throughout this time.
Design is the tool that has enabled us to build up a collection whose
personality is recognised around the world. STUA’s design is based on
three ideas:
- simplicity of form
- timelessness, to create furniture that can stay in our lives for years
- and care over even the smallest detail.
However, ideas and originality are not always respected in this global
village in which we live, and we find more and more imitators, even
copiers. We are forced to engage in permanent, unequal combat
against competitors who do not adhere to the same rules. That is why
we are especially grateful when the work we do at STUA receives
recognition. It is a real pleasure to see that the originality we strive for
is rewarded in our own country.
However, on such an important day for us, I must also voice my regret
for the difficult situation in which the Western economy finds itself. It
seems we have forgotten the principles that have enabled our economy
to flourish until now. What creates wealth, what drives the
country forward, is the transformation of material. Today, many companies
have abandoned such activities, relocating production, and this
makes us poorer. It is not a question of criticising globalisation, but
relocation. The authorities should look at ways of correcting this
situation.
We at STUA call on everyone to reflect on this state of affairs and to
begin reviving activities that create added value, that generate wealth.
Spain should not only produce services, it should also be a country
that produces goods. Of course, all of us as consumers hold a considerable
part of the solution in our own hands, since when we purchase
something we decide where we want to create jobs. We need to be
responsible, both when it comes to producing and when consuming.
Good design and innovation should be the key components in ensuring
the differentiation and originality of our products. But these designs
will only create wealth and generate jobs for our people if we produce
them here, in Spain. At STUA, we have applied this philosophy to work
from the very outset. We make our furniture here, using European
parts. Today more than ever, we believe that the solution lies in consistent,
hard work in this direction.
We at STUA continue with this culture, producing more and better
furniture which is also more attractive, more functional and more
eco-friendly. In short, this is furniture with more design.
Finally, I would like to remember all my colleagues at STUA. These are
people who have been working with us for years, and I would like to
thank them sincerely for all their hard work, skill and dedication. To
these, and to my family, Marina, Jon and Elen, and to all those who
have helped us to achieve this Prize, I say thank you very much.

MALI, ZANGO TRAVEL PROJECT
Project: Zango. Travel from Spain to Mali, as customer service to bring one comfortable Globus chair to a gentleman.

Cuando nuestros fotógrafos hicieron un viaje por África, se llevaron
consigo una silla Globus en su equipaje. El resultado puede verse en
estas mágicas imágenes.
La silla siguió el viaje hasta que encontraron en Mali un caballero que
tenía un puesto de sillas y aun así sufría de dolores de espalda. La
silla Globus ha sido todo un alivio para él.
When our photographers went on a trip around Africa, they took a
Globus chair with them in their luggage. The result can be seen in
these magical pictures.
The chair went with them on the trip until they reached Mali, where
they met a gentleman who, despite having his own chair stall,
suffered from backache. The Globus chair has been a great relief
for him.

MILWAUKEE, ART MUSEUM
Project: Milwaukee Art Museum

El Museo de Arte de Milwaukee comisionó al arquitecto Santiago
Calatrava para un nuevo acceso y una nueva ala del Museo.
Una vez acabado, el impacto del proyecto ha sido tal, que el Museo
se ha convertido en el signo de identidad visual de la ciudad. En las
imágenes podemos ver la perfección con la que las sillas Globus se
integran en el proyecto, complementándolo.
Durante las horas de apertura del museo, las “alas” del edificio se
elevan, para mostrarse desplegadas frente al lago.
Milwaukee Art Museum commissioned the architect Santiago Calatrava
to design a new access and a new wing of the Museum.Once it was
finished, the impact of the project has been so great that the Museum
has become a visual hallmark of the city.
In the photos we can see how the Globus chairs perfectly integrate
within the project to complement it.
During the museum’s opening hours, the buildings’ “wings” are raised
up, spreading out against the backdrop of the lake.

HERNANI, CHILLIDA LEKU MUSEUM
Project: Chillida-Leku Museum, Hernani near San Sebastián

Eduardo Chillida es escultor y Chillida-Leku para la gente de San
Sebastián, como lo somos nosotros, es un sitio especial. Es un lugar
que hay que describir desde el corazón. Eduardo Chillida es un escultor
singular, una persona especial, el fruto de la tierra donde ha vivido.
Chillida tiene una calidad humana que transciede a su propia obra,
pero que inevitablemente se refleja en todo lo que ha hecho.
Chillida Leku, es el museo donde se reúne la obra de Chillida. Su obra
viene de la vida y de la tierra, está enraizada como pocas. Es por eso
que la tierra de Chillida Leku es el mejor espacio para entender su
obra, su personalidad y el carácter abierto de su tolerancia.
El arquitecto Joaquín Montero ha trabajado a lo largo de más de 14
años con Chillida para crear un entorno sobrio y mágico en el que las
obras de Chillida parezca que hayan nacido alli. Trabajar a lo largo de
14 años es, hoy día, un plazo muy largo. Pero de acuerdo con la personalidad
de Chillida, las cosas sólo hay que hacerlas bien. Resulta
sorprendente saber que para la reconstrucción del antiguo caserío de
Zabalaga, eran necesarias ciertas vigas de madera, y que Chillida y
Joaquín Montero estuvieron esperando durante años a que esas
columnas de la forma y tamaño necesario aparecieran en los bosques
de Navarra. El resultado de este trabajo se puede ver en cada detalle
del museo.
Ahora todos podemos visitar el que ha sido el almacén de sus obras
durante años, el lugar donde Chillida dejaba reposar sus esculturas de
hierro para que tomaran la patina que el paso del tiempo debe dejar
en ellas. Obras que nos hablan del espacio y de nosotros mismos,
obras que hay que sentir para apreciar.
En Stua hemos tenido la inmensa suerte de que todo el mobiliario que
se ha instalado sea nuestro. Que nuestros muebles convivan con las
obras de Chillida es un honor que sólo sabemos agradecer mostrando
la calidad de la obra que Chillida ha dejado para nosotros.
Eduardo Chillida was a sculptor of San Sebastian and the museum of
Chillida-Leku is now a very special place. It is a place to be discovered
from the heart. Chillida was a unique personality and a singular artist.
Chillida-Leku is the museum which now houses most of the artist's
oeuvre.
His works came from life and are deeply rooted to hearth. For this
reason the museum is the most appropriate place in which to understand
him and his works; the openness of his mind, and the depth of
his character.
The architect Joaquín Montero worked for over fourteen years with
Chillida to create the sober and magical surroundings where the works
are located, works which seem to have always been there. Fourteen
years is a tremendously long time on such a project, but the time
span reflects the personality of the man and his way of doing things.
In order to re-build the old Zabalaga house, Montero and Chillida waited
for years to get beams from the forests of Navarra so that the
sizes and shapes that they needed would be correct. Every aspect of
the museum reflects this extraordinary attention to detail.
It is also possible to visit the warehouse where he stored sculptures
which were works in progress. In this space the raw metals took on a
patina of time and exposure, and absorbed the essence of him. Works
which reflect life and humanity and which have to be
experienced to appreciate.
Stua are honoured to have provided furniture for this museum. The
fact that our furniture is living in the same space as the works of
Chillida is a source of great pride. Our respect for the man as an artist
is exemplified in the images to follow which show the quality of his
work, left for all to enjoy.

PARIS, MAISON DE L’ARCHITECTURE

Hay edificios que nos hablan directamente de su historia. En este
caso la historia está presente en el colegio de arquitectos de París
de manera muy singular. Inicialmente los edificios eran un convento
religioso, tras una época de abandono, fue ocupado por artistas
que utilizaron sus paredes para dar rienda suelta a su creatividad.
La reforma de Karine Chantier y Thomas Corbasson ha respetado cada
una de esas etapas de manera que el proyecto sale altamente
enriquecido y enraizado.
There are buildings which speak directly about their history. In this
case, the history is present in the Paris Bureau of Architects in a very
unique way. The buildings were initially a religious convent, which,
after a period of desertion, was occupied by artists who used its walls
to give free rein to their creativity.
The renovation by Karine Chantier and Thomas Corbasson has respected
each of those periods in such a way that the project is highly enriched
and deeply-rooted.

SAN SEBASTIAN, HOSPITAL

Si hay un lugar en el mundo en el que hay que intentar lograr tener
un ambiente sosegado y que nos ayude a pasar horas difíciles es un
Hospital Oncológico.
Este proyecto ha utilizado butacas Nube y mesas Nube en la zona de
recepción y las zonas de espera en color verde esperanza.
If there is a place in the world where we need to provide a calm
setting to help us get through difficult times that is an Oncology
Hospital.
This project uses Nube armchairs and Nube tables in the reception
area and the waiting areas in green, the colour of hope.

GRANADA, LA PRINCIPAL

La arquitectura de Campo Baeza es esencial y personal. Sus obras son
sencillas y reconocibles, tienen siempre la calidad de su trabajo. Una
de las últimas obras que ha completado es la sede central de la Caja
de Granada. Se trata de una obra rotunda y fuerte, que marca el
paisaje de una ciudad que ya cuenta en la Alhambra con una de las
obras cumbres de la historia de la arquitectura.
Esta obra, cuya parte principal es un bloque compacto de hormigón,
deja pasar la luz con una calidad que nos hace recordar el espacio y
la luz de las mejores catedrales. Hormigón, travertino y alabastro son
los nobles materiales que se dejan bañar por lo que el Campo Baeza
denomina como "impluvium de luz".
Stua ha provisto de las sillas Gas para alguna de las áreas del edificio,
sillas que como el edificio, son intemporales.
The architecture of Campo Baeza is fundamental and personal. His
works are recognisable for their deceptive simplicity, the purity
and quality of his work is always evident. One of his most recent
projects is the headquarters of Granada Bank, in Granada, Spain.
It has become a salient motif on the Granada skyline, a city which
has another building of major historical significance, the
Alhambra.
The building's central core is a compact concrete block, and light
pierces the space in a manner similar to the ancient cathedrals,
filtering down from the highest points. Concrete, travertine and
alabaster are the most noble of materials when bathed in 'the
warmth of natural light', as Campo Baeza says.
Gas chair, as timeless and pure form as the building they grace,
can be found within.

MADRID, BONDAGE FILM

El Hotel Puerta América es un compendio de la mejor arquitectura del
mundo. Dos de sus plantas han servido de escenario para el rodaje de
la película Bondage: una suite diseñada por Jean Nouvel y un vestíbulo
de Arata Isozaki.
La película dirigida por Javier Guerrero cuenta el encuentro entre dos
amantes, sumidos en una intensa relación de dependencia.
The Hotel Puerta América is a compendium of the best architecture in
the world. Two of its floors were used as the set for the film Bondage:
a suite designed by Jean Nouvel and a lobby by Arata Isozaki.
The film directed by Javier Guerrero tells of an encounter between two
lovers, submerged in an intense relationship of dependence.

ATHENS, NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM

El Museo de la Acrópolis de Atenas ha sido un proyecto estratégico
para Grecia. La Acrópolis y su Partenón son el símbolo del país, y
necesitaban de un museo a la altura de la obra original.
El proyecto de Bernard Tschumi junto a Michalis Fotiadis ha dado el
marco perfecto para contemplar las antiguas maravillas del pueblo que
dio origen a la democracia.
The Acropolis Museum in Athens has been a strategic project for
Greece. The Acropolis and its Parthenon are the symbol of the country,
and they needed a museum on the same level as the original work.
The project by Bernard Tschumi, together with Michalis Fotiadis, has
provided the perfect setting to contemplate the ancient marvels of the
town that gave rise to democracy.

La tienda de STUA en Madrid cuenta con un espacio diáfano, luminoso
y limpio diseñado por el estudio de arquitectura 3.14 Gestión +
Arquitectura. Aprovechando las bondades del espacio, con más de 6
metros de altura, y enormes ventanales, el espacio se ha dividido en
una planta baja de exposición de STUA y una planta superior
retranqueada como zona de trabajo y de reunión.
La escalera que une ambas plantas es discreta y se ha separado de la
zona de exposición con un biombo de 6 metros de altura. El biombo
forma parte de los diseños de STUA pero en dimensiones mayores de
lo habitual. El biombo tiene una apariencia desestructurada dentro de
un marco rectangular y hace de barandilla a la escalera de acceso a la
segunda planta.
Ese biombo, de color blanco como el resto del espacio, dota de una
discreta personalidad al espacio. Así los productos destacan con mayor
facilidad pues no compiten con la arquitectura sino que toman el
protagonismo en este espacio dedicado al diseño y a la creación
contemporánea.
The space of STUA shop in Madrid is a bright, clean, open space
designed by the architects studio 3.14 Gestión + Arquitectura.
Making the most of the great features, with a height of over 6
metres, and huge windows, the space has been divided into a
ground floor for the STUA exhibition area and a gallery-style first
floor as a work and meetings area.
The staircase that joins the two floors is discrete and has been
separated from the exhibition area by a 6-metre-high screen. The
screen is in line with STUA’s designs, but on a larger scale than
usual. The screen has an unstructured appearance within a rectangular
frame and acts as a handrail for the staircase that leads to the
second floor.
The screen is white to match the rest of the space, and provides it
with a discrete personality, enabling the products to stand out more
easily as they do not have to compete with the architecture but are
the main focus in this space devoted to design and contemporary
creation.

El Maritime es uno de los hoteles más singulares del mundo, quizá
gracias a su historia. Antiguamente era la casa donde descansaban en
tierra los marineros de los barcos que atracaban en el puerto de
Nueva York. Por ello las ventanas son redondas como las escotillas de
los barcos y otros muchos detalles.
Hoy, gracias a la reforma de Sean MacPherson & Eric Goode, se ha
mantenido ese espíritu marinero.
The Maritime is one of the most unique hotels in the world, perhaps
due to its history. In the past it was the house where sailors rested
when there ships docked in the port of New York. That is why the
windows are round like ship portholes, as well as many other details.
Today, as a result of the renovation carried out by Sean MacPherson &
Eric Goode, that same seafaring spirit has been maintained.

El décimo edificio independiente más alto del mundo, completado el
año 2002. La torre tiene 338m en su punto más alto. La plataforma
de observación principal está a 223m sobre el nivel del suelo. Desde la
plataforma de observación más alta se puede ver a 55km de distancia.
La torre está diseñada para soportar vientos de hasta 400 km/h.
La torre cuenta con más de 1700 sillas Gas. Las sillas están tapizadas
en la tela Glove de Kvadrat.
This is the 10th tallest free-standing building in the world. The tower
is 338 m. at its highest point with the main observation level 223m
above ground. It is possible to see for 55 km from the highest viewing
deck. The tower can withstand winds of up to 400km/h.
The interior features over 1,700 Gas chairs, all upholstered in Kvadrat

The architecture of Enric Ruiz Geli is radical in its search for a balance

of his projects and constructions.

El diseño de la butaca NUBE combina la
ortodoxia plana y ortogonal de los espacios
contemporáneos con las curvas del cuerpo
humano. La butaca NUBE tiene un diseño
exterior limitado por superficies planas y
paralelas, mientras que el espacio en el
que nos sentamos es curvo y acogedor,
como un nido.
Toda la parte trasera curva de la butaca
queda vista, de forma que se ve la forma
en la que nos vamos a sentar y ya se
puede presentir la comodidad de las curvas
antes de sentarse. El volumen queda
delimitado, por tanto, por las sobrias líneas
rectas del exterior, enriquecidas por la gracia
de las curvas del interior. Este efecto
queda resaltado por la utilización de dos
colores en cada butaca, un color para las
superficies planas y otro color combinado
para las superficies curvas.
La estructura es ligera, liviana, mínima;
continúa la coherencia de las formas exteriores
sin dejarse notar. Es de varilla de
acero cromado. La butaca NUBE tiene otra
particularidad, y es que vista desde arriba
es cuadrada, de forma que en la práctica
varias butacas pueden combinarse girando
entre si. Es decir, que las butacas pueden
unirse formando líneas rectas, quebradas,
cuadrados, o formas de L.
La butaca NUBE es siempre tapizada y se
puede utilizar tanto en el hogar como en
la instalación.
The design of the NUBE armchair juxtaposes
the clean lines and right angles of contemporary
architecture with the curves of
the human body. The outside of NUBE is
all straight lines and flat parallel planes,
whilst within it is cosy and curved, like a
nest.
Instead of a solid block, the design of
NUBE allows us to see all of the structure
at once and the chair’s interior form. So
the soft curve where one sits is immediately
visible from all angles. The comfort level
of the chair is visible to the sitter.
The volume is delineated by the sober,
straight lines of the outside, enriched by
the grace of the inner curves. This effect is
enhanced by the use of two colours in the
upholstery of the armchair, one colour for
the flat surfaces and the other colour for
the curves.
The frame of the chair is light, minimal and
continues the line of the outer form,
almost imperceptibly. The frame is of solid
chromed steel.
Looked at from above, NUBE is completely
square in form and combinations of
shapes. Straight lines and angles can be
created by placing multiple chairs beside
each other.
NUBE is suitable for both domestic and
contract use, and is only available in an
upholstered form.

Sitzrichtung. Die Sitzgruppe
kann als gerade Linie oder versetzt verbunden
aufgestellt werden.

Le design du fauteuil Nube vient de la

espaces contemporain et les formes du
corps humain. Les surfaces extérieures du
fauteuil Nube sont faites de parties planes

Le dossier est fait d'un espace évidé aux
contours courbés dévoilant une forme en
coquille. L'arrondie de l'assise permet simplement
quand on la regarde d'anticiper un
confort hors du commun avant même de
s'asseoir.
Le volume est déterminé par la sobriété
des lignes sobres et simples de l'extérieur
du fauteuil enrichissant ainsi la délicatesse
des détails de l'assise. Cette particularite
est mise en valeur grâce à l'utilisation de
deux teintes de tissus pour le garnissage
du fauteuil, une pour les surfaces planes
l'autre pour les parties arrondies.
La structure du fauteuil Nube est légère et
minimaliste. Elle souligne le contour du
fauteuil toute en étant presque invisible.
Elle est faite d'un tube massif chrome brillant.
Un autre détail qui fait la particularité
du Nube est le carré qu'il forme vu dessus.
Cette particularité permet de combiner et
additionner différents fauteuils entre eux,
ainsi le Nube peut être connecter et former
le ensembles alignés ou en angle. Le Nube
peut être utilisé dans des projets de collectivité,
que résidentiel. Le Nube est toujours
recouvert.

STUA presenta el taburete ONDA. Este revolucionario
diseño ha sido creado por el fundador de
STUA Jesús Gasca.
Las formas de ONDA están diseñadas basándose
en las curvas del cuerpo humano y su resonancia
en las curvas de las ondas sinusoidales.
Buscando que la forma del asiento, se acople al
final de la espalda como lo haría un guante. Así
el pequeño respaldo en forma de onda le aporta
su personalidad y da un notable apoyo lumbar.
ONDA aporta una gran novedad tecnológica: el
asiento del taburete tiene una "piel" extra, de
una goma blanda, que logra que el confort de las
formas sea total. Esta "piel" es más pequeña que
la carcasa y dibuja el perfil del perímetro, aportando
un carácter más gráfico. Esta "piel" se
moldea junto a la carcasa del taburete, de forma
que el asiento exteriormente tiene dos materiales,
dos densidades y dos colores, que se combinan
enriqueciendo la elegancia de las formas.
La estructura del taburete cuando es de acero
inoxidable puede ser usado tanto en el interior
como en el exterior. Cuando la estructura es de
acero cromado mate o brillo es para uso en el
interior. Las cuatro patas parten del centro del
asiento desplegándose con suaves curvas
hasta formar una base estable.
Cada uno de los aspectos del diseño ha sido
cuidado de forma que ONDA sea estético
desde cualquier ángulo. Todas las partes del
taburete son curvas, ya que se ha pensado de
forma prioritaria en la ergonomía de los usuarios.
Como es habitual en los diseños de STUA,
el proyecto se ha realizado con calma, con la
ilusión de realizar un producto que enriquece el
panorama del diseño, aportando originalidad,
frescura y coherencia. Y con la pretensión de
hacer de ONDA un taburete intemporal.
STUA is delighted to present the ONDA
stool. This visionary design has been conceived
by Jesus Gasca, who founded STUA
more than 20 years ago.
The shapes of ONDA mimic the curves of
the human body as well as the curves of a
wave. Like a glove, the seat moulds by
following the contours of the sitter and
provides lumbar support by hugging the
person’s lower back.
The seat design is very innovative, it has
an extra soft rubber “skin” which gives
superb comfort. This inner “skin” is
slightly smaller than the shell. Both shell
and skin create interesting colour and textural
contrasts.
The skin and shell are moulded simultaneously
so that the final product incorporates
two different materials, densities, and
colours. Overall, a rich and elegant solution.
When with a stainless steel frame, ONDA
is suitable for both indoor and outdoor
use. When chromed frame (shiny or matt)
the stool is for indoor. The four legs curve
out smoothly forming a lightweight and
stable base.
ONDA looks beautiful from any angle and
is both brilliantly innovative and ergonomic
in form. Consistent with the rest of
the STUA collection ONDA has been created
with care and attention, adding a new
typology to the STUA family. The result is
ONDA, refined and timeless.

Das Design der ONDA-Formen basiert auf den
Kurven der menschlichen Körpergestalt; die
Resonanz auf den welligen Sinuslinien. Dabei soll
sich die Sitzform wie ein Handschuh am unteren
Rückenteil anschmiegen. So verleiht die kleine
wellenförmige Rückenlehne Persönlichkeit verbunden
mit einer hervorragenden Lumbalabstützung.
ONDA fügt technologische Spitzeninnovation bei:
dem Hockersitz liegt eine Extra-„Haut“ aus weichem
Gummi auf, womit eine absolut komfortable
Formengestaltung gelingt. Diese, als das Gehäuse
kleinere „Haut“, zeichnet das Umfangsprofil ab,
einen bildlichen Charakter verleihend. Diese „Haut“
formt sich mit dem Hockergehäuse um, so daß der
Sitz außenseitig zwei Werkstoffe, zwei Dichten und
zwei Farbtöne aufweist, die sich untereinander kombinieren
und die Eleganz der Formen anreichern.
Der Hocker besteht aus einer Stahlrohrkonstruktion
(matt oder Hochglanzverchromt) oder aus
matt Inox-Stahl. Die vier Füße treten aus
der Sitzmitte hervor und erstrecken sich,
in sanft geschwungenen Kurven, bis eine
stabile Basis zustande kommt.
Jedem einzelnen Designaspekt wurde äußerste
Sorgfalt gespendet, damit der ONDA von jedem
Winkel aus ästhetisch wirkt. Alle den ONDA-Hocker
zusammensetzende Teile sind gekurvt, denn im
Vordergrund aller Gedanken stand die Ergonomie des
Benutzers. Nach der gewöhnlichen Art eines STUA-
Design, wurde das Projekt ohne Eile, ganz in Ruhe
abgewickelt, stets mit der Freude ein Produkt zu
schaffen, das eine Anreicherung im Designpanorama

conçu par Jesus Gasca.
Les lignes de Onda imitent à la fois les
courbes du corps humain ainsi que celles
d'une vague. Tel un gant, la coque moulée
injectée suit les contours de la personne
assise dessus et lui assure un support lombaire
en enveloppant le bas du dos.
L'assise est d'une technique très innovante.
Son intérieure est légèrement plus étroite
que sa coquille et elle est faite d'un revêtement
de caoutchouc très agréable, ce qui
contribue à un grand confort. L'ensemble,
coquille et intérieur forment un contraste
de couleurs et de textures du plus bel
effet.
L'intérieur et la coquille sont moulés simultanément
de façon à ce que le produit final
comporte deux matériaux, de densités et
couleurs différentes. Cette solution apporte
un résultat riche et élégant.
Avec sa structure en Inox, l’Onda à la fois
un usage d’intérieur et d’extérieur.
Structure chrome (brillant ou matt) seulement
pour usage d’intérieur. Les quatre
pieds légèrement courbés assurent une
base stable mais légère.

Un clásico del diseño de los últimos tiempos,
con más de 15 años, la silla Egoa es
de una comodidad extraordinaria, pues el
respaldo se adapta a la posición de la
espalda, acompañando nuestro movimiento.
Se logra así una ergonomía dinámica.
Pero para conocerla es necesario sentarse
en ella.
La estructura es de acero cromado, asiento
tapizado en tela o piel y las versiones en
diferentes maderas, como el cerezo natural,
el haya, el fresno, wenge, etc. Existe
la versión con ruedas que se pueden elegir
con diferentes durezas según el suelo
sobre el que se vaya a utilizar la silla.

La mesa Deneb es el origen del sistema
de exterior Deneb.
Se compone de mesa y su correspondiente
banco. La estructura es de aluminio
anodizado y el sobre de lamas de madera
de Teka maciza.
La madera de teka con la lluvia y el sol va
cambiando de color y requiere de un sencillo
mantenimiento con aceite de teka
para mantener su condición original.
La madera de Teka proviene de bosques
gestionados con criterios de sostenibilidad.
Nuevo sobre de compacto, HPL, laminado
de alta presión, de gran duración, para
uso intenso. El sobre de compacto es de
12mm tanto para interior o exterior.

Atlas is a product which can be adapted to
a variety of uses, including discreet storage
cabinet, bedside table, desk pedestal.
The unique aluminium drawers are easy to
clean because of the rounded shapes of
the interior of the drawers.
The sides of each Atlas unit are made of
MDF with aluminium colour finish.

JESUS GASCA, 1998
Sapporo es un sistema sencillo y versátil.
Se trata de un módulo individual que se
puede componer, apilándolo, desde 1
hasta 6 alturas.
El módulo Sapporo va apoyado sobre una
base de acero fija o de ruedas (las ruedas
sólo hasta dos alturas).
En cada balda lleva una guía de aluminio
para las puertas correderas. Las puertas de
cristal templado pueden ser transparentes
o acabado hielo seco o de plexiglas de
colores: rojo, rosa, naranja o antracita.
Nuevas puertas reversibles de roble y nogal.
El mueble siempre es acabado en color
blanco (como las nieves de la ciudad japonesa
de Sapporo) con una anchura de
120cm y profundidad de 35cm.
Sapporo is a refined and versatile storage
system. It can be used as an individual
element, or can be stacked up to six units
high. The units sit on a steel base, which
can be either fixed or on castors (castors
only until 2 units high).
The sliding doors can be of tempered glass
in a transparent or frosted finish. Plexiglass
doors are also available in the following
colours: red, pink, orange & charcoal.
New oak and walnut reversible doors.
The doors can be added or removed from
the unit without altering the structure.
Sapporo is always finished in white, like
the snows of Sapporo in Japan, and it is
made in a standard width of 120cm and
width of 35cm.
