,
relacionado con la fluorita [2]. En el vanadato CaVO 3
se
observó magnetorresistencia positiva [3].
5. Vanadium perovskites, RVO 3
We have prepared, by soft chemistry techniques, the
complete series of RVO 3
perovskites, which are extremely
interesting given the anomalous diamagnetism
effect that they show below T N
. We have studied the
crystal and magnetic structures of LuVO 3 [1] and its
thermal evolution by neutron diffraction. We have
observed the simultaneous development of a structural
and magnetic transition: the RT orthorhombic crystal
structure becomes monoclinic just below the Néel temperature
due to the establishment of an orbital ordering
effect, which involves a great distortion of the VO 6
octahedra. The compound ScVO 3 , studied by neutron
diffraction, presented a bixbyte structure; the topotactical
oxidation gave rise to a new phase ScVO 3.5
, related
to fluorite [2]. In CaVO 3 vanadate we observed the occurrence
of positive magnetoresistance [3].
6. Propiedades y mecanismos en óxidos
magnetorresistivos
6. Properties and mechanisms in magnetoresistive
oxides
We continue studying by means of many different techniques,
different families of magnetoresistive oxides in
order to disentangle the mechanisms of their peculiar
properties and to increase the magnetoresistance at
low fields and high temperatures. We study the magnetism,
electronic properties and local structure corresponding
to the different electronic and magnetic phases
as a function of the doping and the composition as
well as their correlation to the magnetotransport.
