1. Crecimiento y propiedades de en láminas
delgadas y heteroestructuras de óxidos
magnetorresistivos
sustratos a temperatura ambiente.
y presentan baja resistividad residual y alta Tc.
1. Growth and properties of magnetoresistive
oxide thin films and heterostructures
1. We have obtained high quality manganite layers
(LCMO y LSMO) and heterostructures by the sputtering
technique on room temperature substrates. On the
other hand, high quality Sr2FeMoO6 double perovskite
thin films have been grown by PLD. The films are epitaxial,
strained by the substrate and present low residual
resistivity and high Tc. We study the effect that different
kind of defects, as structural barriers, doping and
oxygen deficiency have on the magnetotransport behavior.
We also study the changes in the structure and its
correlation to the magnetic and magnetotransport properties
of ultrathin layers down to 2.5 nm.
2. Magnetorresistencia colosal en la
perovskita doble Sr 2 FeMoO 6 y derivados
Hemos proseguido los estudios sobre Sr 2
FeMoO 6
(416 K),
a la magnetización a saturación (M s = 3.97 MB) y la magnetorresistencia
a bajo campo (6.5% a temperatura
2. Colossal magnetoresistance in double
perovskites A 2 MM’O 6 (A= alkali-earths; M,
M’= transition metals)
Wet chemistry techniques, involving the previous elaboration
of reactive citrate precursors, have been used
to prepare polycrystalline Sr 2 FeMoO 6 double perovskite,
exhibiting record values of T C (416 K), saturation magnetization
(M s = 3.97 MB) and low-field magnetoresistance
(MR= 6.5% at room temperature for H=0.3 T) [1].
We have also studied the effects of electron and hole
doping in the series Sr 2-x La x FeMoO 6 and Sr 2-x FeMoO 6 ,
from neutron powder diffraction and magnetization
data. Sr-deficient samples exhibit a rapid decrease of T c
and M s with x, whereas a change from tetragonal to
monoclinic symmetry and a monotonic behaviour of T C
is found in the La-substituted samples [2]. On the other
hand, we have studied the catalytic properties for
methane combustion on the double perovskites
A 2 FeMoO 6 (A= Ca, Sr and Ba), finding a higher catalytic
activity for the Sr compound, of 80% at 800 K, related
to the presence of oxygen vacancies on the surface [3].
