térmica a tiempos largos y consecuentemente
3. Micromagnetic modeling of field and
thermal magnetisation reversal for magnetic
recording applications
The research focuses on the development and application
of computer simulation methods to model the
dynamic switching and thermal stability properties for
magnetic recording media. Particularly, we have developed
numerical methods capable to evaluate long-time
magnetisation decay and consequently to predict thermal
stability of magnetic recording media. Other line
includes the study of magnetisation dynamics in highanisotropy
films for ultrahigh-density recording applications,
with a special emphasize of heat-assisted magnetic
recording. This involves the modeling of switching
properties of self-organized magnetic arrays of FePt
and of composite FeRh/FePt bi-layer structures. Other
line includes the proposal to model the magnetisation
dynamics at high temperature using the Landau-
Lifshitz-Bloch equation which takes into account longitudinal
relaxation and fluctuations.
4. Una nueva familia de óxidos ferromagnéticos:
RMMnO 5 (R= tierras raras, M= Fe,
Cr)
Muy recientemente hemos obtenido, por primera vez,
un nuevo óxido ferromagnético de composición
YMnFeO 5
4. A new family of ferromagnetic oxides:
RMMnO 5 (R= rare earths, M= Fe, Cr)
Very recently we have obtained, for the first time, a new
ferromagnetic oxide of stoichiometry YFeMnO 5 . This
phase is structurally related with the family of oxides
RMn 2 O 5 (R= rare earths, Bi): the crystal contains infinite
chains of Mn 4+ O 6 octahedra sharing edges; the Mn 3+
cations are in pyramidal coordination, due to the Jahn-
Teller character of this cation. The antiferromagnetic
structure of RMn 2
O 5
is complex and sometimes incommensurate
with the chemical cell. The replacement of
Mn 3+ by Fe 3+ induces dramatic changes in the magnetism;
for YMnFeO 5 we observe a ferromagnetic behaviour
with a T C
= 160K, confirmed by neutron diffraction
[1]. There are very few ferromagnetic oxides, which
makes very valuable the description of a new family of
ferromagnets. RMnFeO 5 oxides must be obtained under
high oxygen pressure conditions to stabilize Mn 4+
cations; the preparation of the members with other rare
earths is in progress.
