estructura metaestable (amorfa, nano y micro- cristalina)
1. Magnetic microwires
Microwires obtained by rapid solidification techniques
having diameter from around 1 to 120 micron. Those
having vanishing magnetostriction are investigated
concerning the giant magnetoimpedance effect which
is of particular interest for magnetic field sensor devices.
Our interest on those with large magnetostriction
lies in the study of the fluctuations of the switching
field as a function of temperature, as well as the novel
effect consisting of the field induced rotation and levitation
of magnetostrictive wires.
2. Preparation, properties and simulation
of nanostructured magnetic materials
This research line focuses on the preparation and optimization
of the magnetic properties of high anisotropy
materials as SmCo and FePt. By using pulsed laser ablation
deposition we have prepared high coercivity SmCo
films for microelectromechanical applications. Also, we
have analyzed the hysteresis and relaxation processes
taking place in nanoparticulate films formed by partly
transformed FePt particles. A third activity is related to
the nanostructuring by means of lithographic techniques
of Fe films in order to write antidots. We have
measured in these samples and by means of the magneto-optic
Kerr effect their demagnetization properties.
The analysis of these results has been carried out by
using micromagnetic simulations.
