8. Sputtering magnetron deposition of
ternary compounds based in TiN
We have grown Ti x Al y N and Cr x N coatings using co-sputtering
magnetrón processes. We have studies the chemical
and structural characterization of the coatings
together the influence of the process parameters in the
properties of the films. We have also studies the chemical
stability of the films in corrosive atmospheres
and at high temperatures. From a fundamental point of
view we have studied de roughness of the films and its
temporal evolution. For this purpose we have used AFM
measurements in samples obtained at the same conditions
but at different deposition times. The mechanical
characterization of the coating have been completed
with wear resistance measurements in order to determine
the wear and coefficients. We are evaluating the
possible application of our coatings as protective coatings
in the industrial sector
9. Determinación de la estructura electrónica
y superficie de Fermi de los óxidos
conductores bidimensionales - Mo 4 O 11 y
A temperatura ambiente hemos caracterizado
9. Electronic structure and charge density
wave transition in molybdenum
bronzes, -Mo 4 O 11 , K 0.9 Mo 6 O 17 studied by
angle-resolved-photoemission
Low dimensional metallic oxides have been object of
continuous interest in the last two decades mainly due
to the electronic instabilities that they present at low
temperatures. In particular, charge density waves
(CDW) instabilities associated with a strong electronphonon
interaction have been found in molybdenum
metallic oxides such us Magneli phase compound -
Mo 4
O 11
or purple bronze K 0.9
Mo 6
O 17
. Angle Resolved
Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) studies have been
performed on these compounds focusing on their electronic
structure and Fermi Surfaces (FS) topologies. The
FS topology is very important to determine if these
materials respond to the hidden nesting, used to
explain the observed CDW instabilities[3].We have performed
a complete experimental band structure and FS
topology. The nesting vector of -Mo 4 O 11 has been estimated
from ARPES measurements. Our results are consistent
with previous findings reported by X-ray diffraction
and tight-binding calculations. [4] We have also
performed photoemission (PES) and ARPES on
K 0.9
Mo 6
O 17
from RT down to T ~ 40K, well below the CDW
transition temperature, T CDW ~ 120 K. We have focused
on M dispersion band and photoemission measurements
near the Fermi Level at the FS regions susceptible
of being nested after the Peierls transition. A pseudogap
opening in this region has been observed.
